Chris came back from a death metal festival covered in blood
Chris returned from filming another of his extreme-festival documentaries with a particularly alarming story. At the death metal festival he had interviewed Archgoat and made the mistake of asking whether they ever played weddings. The response was a pint of blood being poured over him. Scott was less impressed than the camera crew and immediately started worrying about whose blood it was and whether Chris now needed a blood test.
Mal had made a promise to her driver
Chris had also received an unexpected late-night call from Radio 1 colleague Mal, who had been celebrating her birthday. She was in an Uber, had got chatting to her driver about Radio 1 and confidently told him she could get him onto Bangers. The next working day Scott and Chris called Mal to confront her about the promise. She remembered the conversation, admitted she and driver Ed had exchanged numbers and accepted that she had probably promised more than she should have.
They then called Ed, who confirmed Mal had earned a five-star passenger rating and was indeed responsible for raising his hopes. Rather than leave him disappointed, they decided to follow through and give him the chance to take part in Bangers.
Scott discovered the future in his house
Scott had become fascinated by Amazon Dash buttons, small Wi-Fi-connected buttons that could instantly reorder household products. He already had them set up for things including toilet roll, mouthwash, washing-up products and beer. The appeal was largely the physical button itself, although Scott immediately realised that putting them around the house also created the danger of visitors repeatedly pressing them.
Chris, meanwhile, recommended Patrice Evra’s Instagram account as a source of Monday motivation. Evra’s enthusiastic videos, beatboxing and smiling challenges made him Chris’s latest favourite person online. Real or No Real later confirmed the extravagant story that Rihanna’s billionaire boyfriend Hassan Jameel had reportedly flown a giant teddy bear around the world for her on a private jet.
