Mum enters the group chat
Lea returns with an update about her best friend Lauren, a personal trainer who has begun training Lea’s mother. The arrangement has expanded far beyond exercise: her mother joins their group chat and Snapchat conversations, invents nicknames for everyone and goes with Lauren on a day trip to Matlock involving fish and chips and a rowing boat.
Lea initially feels displaced as the two become increasingly close, but now accepts that she is effectively the third wheel in a friendship she introduced. Scott and Chris are fascinated by the speed with which her mother has become a full member of the social group.
Water, Love Island and Bangers
Scott attempts to drink three litres of water during the day and consequently spends much of the programme planning toilet breaks. When a listener mentions a UTI, he misreads it as an STI and has to apologise.
The Love Island final prompts a discussion of Cara and Nathan and an idea for a dramatic split-or-steal ending, only for Scott and Chris to discover that the mechanism is already familiar television territory. In Bangers, Woody chooses Chris’s Usher and will.i.am track “OMG”, giving Chris a 2–1 lead for the week.
Fill Me In returns
Scott and Chris play their autocomplete game Fill Me In, attempting to complete popular searches beginning with questions such as “Is it legal to…” and “Is it rude to…”. The answers range from marrying a cousin and owning a monkey to elbows and washing in a train sink. The segment also revives their dispute with Matt Edmondson over who can claim ownership of the format’s name.
Clara Amfo then plays Real or No Real. The claims include live trainspotting, Kim Kardashian-branded burger restaurants and Adele having pizza delivered roughly 70 miles only to fall asleep before it arrived. Clara wins by 30 points to 20.
