Home from the final on two hours’ sleep
Scott and Chris return from Paris after providing alternative commentary on Portugal’s victory over France in the Euro 2016 final. With around two hours’ sleep, they reconstruct the journey and preview a short Road to Paris film documenting the assignment.
Their trip included meeting David Guetta before the closing ceremony, where he performed with Zara Larsson, and spending time around experienced football broadcasters. Once the match began, however, Scott and Chris abandoned any pretence of neutrality and became increasingly vocal about Cristiano Ronaldo and France’s chances.
Guy Mowbray explains the proper method
BBC commentator Guy Mowbray joins them to discuss the difference between their coverage and a conventional match broadcast. He offers advice about impartiality and preparation, then faces the question Scott and Chris believe no training manual addresses: what is the protocol if a co-commentator passes wind in the commentary box? Guy has no definitive rule, confirming that even elite commentators encounter situations beyond the official guidance.
Chris also regrets failing to eat a croque monsieur or croque madame in France. The disappointment becomes serious enough for him to send food-related messages to Raymond Blanc, while the pair trade further stories about their hotel and Eurostar journey.
A very large Beyoncé order
Greg James plays Real or No Real and learns that a reported Beyoncé catering order before a Manchester concert was genuine. It included hundreds of portions of meat and a fleet of ice-cream vans, producing a bill of about £1,000. A separate claim about the facekini also proves real. After a weekend dominated by football, the programme ends with Scott and Chris trying to return to normality and teasing their interview with David Guetta later in the week.
