A stag do at sea
Chris returned from a stag weekend in Portsmouth that combined a late Friday night with sailing to the Isle of Wight the following morning. The boats required the group to handle the sails rather than simply sit as passengers, but seasickness quickly left Chris struggling.
He messaged Scott from the water because there was no obvious escape. Scott, who was already known for becoming ill at sea, could offer sympathy but no useful way to get him back to land. Chris survived both the sailing and the return journey, although he remained visibly drained on Monday.
Scott admitted to a smaller weekend failure after losing his temper at a drive-through. The passenger could not decide what to order, leaned across him to speak into the microphone and then checked the bag before they moved away. After more sleep, Scott accepted that the silent drive home had been a disproportionate response.
Glory holes, Doggy Style and Dick Lovett
The show revived an old game in which Scott and Chris called genuine businesses with names that sounded funny when spoken aloud. A listener supplied the much better title Funny Business.
The calls reached a crystal shop whose name sounded like Glory Holes, a dog-grooming business called Doggy Style and the car dealership Dick Lovett. The challenge was to ask each person to repeat the company name without laughing. Scott won the round and immediately wondered whether future versions should add mouthfuls of water to make it resemble Innuendo Bingo.
Barbara Windsor’s breakfast
Greg James played Real or No Real as Big Weekend preparations intensified. One story claimed Barbara Windsor brought salmon and avocado to supplement hotel breakfasts. The image of her arriving in Exeter with fish in her luggage fascinated the show, although Scott worried about how safely the salmon travelled.
Breakfast had begun its week of Big Weekend co-hosts with Craig David and Dan Smith from Bastille. Craig’s sung seven-day weather forecast became the highlight, while Scott predicted Ryan Tedder might write another hit for Jess Glynne during their turn the following morning.
