Taking a banger to the showers
Chris believed Kiko Bun’s “Sticky Situation” was a future classic and wanted more people to hear it. Scott decided the busy basement showers at the BBC would provide an ideal early-morning audience, especially because staff cycling to work might include important executives.
Chris entered fully clothed, turned on a shower and attempted to begin a communal singalong. The humidity, echo and sight of a presenter broadcasting beside unsuspecting colleagues made the exercise more awkward than musical, but he successfully introduced Shower-oke and returned with a recording of his own performance.
The experiment did not conclusively prove that the song was already a banger. It did establish that Breakfast cover allowed the pair to cause trouble in parts of the building that were normally quiet during their afternoon show.
A royal day out
Scott proposed travelling to Windsor after Thursday’s programme for the Queen’s 90th birthday. He imagined getting close enough for a photograph and perhaps meeting Barack Obama, who was also visiting the UK.
Chris expected enormous crowds and reminded Scott that the Queen’s official summer birthday would offer another public celebration. Scott had only just learned that sovereigns born outside summer received a second birthday to improve the chances of good weather for Trooping the Colour.
The possibility of drinking wine before seeing the Queen worried him less than Chris. Scott expected any resulting Snapchat to feature an enthusiastic “slay Queen”, which he considered sufficient reason to attempt the trip.
Early-morning games
A therapeutic videographer joined Real or No Real, and Battle of the Bangers continued. Emeli Sandé was also trailed as having a special Biffy Clyro announcement, briefly causing exaggerated concern that a hip operation might affect the band’s Big Weekend appearance.
