7 March 2025: Remember Monday are the UK’s Eurovision act

The Eurovision reveal

Scott spent the morning building towards the official announcement of the UK’s act for the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel. He stressed that there had been rumours and fan speculation, but joked that “it ain’t a Eurovision entry until I say it is”.

After playing clips from previous UK entries, he introduced three singers in the studio: Remember Monday. The group consisted of Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele, friends who had sung together for years.

The programme gave the group its first official interview after the announcement. They described the news as difficult to process and said hearing their name sung in a Radio 2 jingle made the scale of the moment feel real.

Scott presented the song as the UK’s official 2025 entry and played What the Hell Just Happened?. The track moved between tight three-part harmonies, theatrical changes of pace and a chorus built around the title.

Listener response was immediate. Messages described the harmonies as “off the charts”, called the song “a journey” and urged the UK to take “all the points”. Scott warned the group not to get big heads while reading the praise.

Remember Monday

Lauren, Holly-Anne and Charlotte explained that they had met through performing arts training and had remained friends while developing as singers. Their ability to harmonise live was central to the act.

They discussed the process of keeping their involvement secret while Eurovision forums tried to identify the UK entrant. The official announcement finally allowed them to speak openly about Basel and the preparation ahead.

Scott asked how they would translate a song with so many changes into a live Eurovision performance. The group expressed confidence in singing it live and said the arrangement reflected what they had always done together.

Their former performing-arts teacher Jenny called the programme and became emotional. She remembered first hearing Holly rehearsing outside the toilets and asking whether she understood “how big” her voice was.

Jenny described teaching the group as “the easiest two years” of her career because their talent was already obvious, but emphasised that they had also worked relentlessly and often had to be pushed out of the building at closing time.

The call left the group crying in the studio. Scott told listeners that he had no concerns about the live vocals and played the song a second time before the trio left.

The Wonder Years

The Wonder Years began in 1980 and moved year by year through a half-hour of music. The feature provided the final extended musical sequence before the handover.

7 March 2025: Vernon Kay

Scott handed over after the Eurovision announcement had dominated the morning. He told Remember Monday that they would be seeing a great deal of him in the months before Basel.

Vernon picked up the reaction to the song as Scott encouraged listeners to watch and listen again. The handover also revisited the strength of the group’s live harmonies and the emotional call from their former teacher.
