14 February 2008: Season 2 Premiere of “My Name is Scott” — Jo Whiley’s Paintball Revenge

The long-awaited return of “My Name is Scott” sees Jo Whiley get her own back on Scott in spectacular fashion, armed with a paintball gun and a warehouse full of quiz questions designed to humiliate him.

Scott’s karma-redemption feature returns for its second season with a revenge segment that has Jo Whiley in complete control. After Scott had previously planted embarrassing items in Jo’s house (including a whip under her bed when Mika visited to record a show, mortifying Jo in front of her young son), Jo orchestrated an elaborate comeuppance. She lured Scott to an old warehouse called the Electro Works in North London and set up a paintball challenge: answer ten general knowledge questions correctly to avoid being shot, or get hit with the paintball gun for each wrong answer.

The questions were deliberately focused on Scott’s own show — asking him to name a Page Three model he’d groped (he answered incorrectly as “Haley” instead of “Peta”), recall a listener survey about Britney Spears smelling like fish (he guessed 58% instead of the correct 64%), and identify a child from his pointless surveys. Scott got repeatedly hit, with particularly painful shots to the arm and — as he later ruefully noted — the groin. Throughout, Jo maintained an intimidating demeanor, complete with heavy breathing as she aimed the gun, creating a genuinely scary dynamic that Scott found far more unnerving than typical paintball sessions with groups of friends.

The episode also featured Scott’s earlier karma installments, including an extended bit about “One Who Doesn’t Speak” accidentally leaving the Flirt Divert SIM card in his personal phone, resulting in his wife receiving constant incoming calls from listeners throughout the evening. The team discussed answering those calls live on air in future shows. Callers during the show included people discussing Valentine’s Day relationships and MSN breakups, with Scott taking calls from listeners about relationship disasters.
