28 November 2006: Rate My Listener Guessing Game with Chloe Goes Wrong

With Scott away, the boys attempt their usual Rate My Listener guessing game with Chloe from Essex, but things quickly derail when she refuses to play along with their usual format — she’s an accountant, not a pole dancer, and she’s determined to stay honest about it.

The show opens with the team promoting their Rate My Listener feature, directing listeners to check out Chloe from Essex on the BBC website. There’s immediate banter about her appearance and occupation: while the boys assume she might be a model or pole dancer, Chloe quickly clarifies she’s actually an accountant who handles payroll. The guessing game premise — where listeners are supposed to reveal surprising or glamorous jobs — completely falls apart when Chloe refuses to play along or make something up. The boys keep pushing her to embellish or joke about being a pole dancer, but she’s unapologetic about her real job and even mentions she does actually use the pole in her home for fitness purposes, which becomes an awkward running gag throughout the segment. It’s clear the boys expected a more entertaining reveal, and the feature becomes increasingly cringeworthy as they struggle to make radio gold out of a perfectly ordinary accountant who won’t pretend otherwise. The segment ultimately highlights the gap between what the boys thought Rate My Listener would deliver and what actually happened when a listener refused to play the game their way.
