5 September 2006: Laura Tests Chloe’s Boyfriend

Laura hits the streets to test whether Chloe’s boyfriend is really the reformed ladies’ man he claims to be, or if he’ll fall for her advances in the pub. After a comedic false start with the wrong man, she finally tracks down the right target.

Chloe calls in with a relationship dilemma: her boyfriend wants to move in together, but her friends insist he’s an untrustworthy player who used to be a serial womaniser. He claims he’s changed and that Chloe is “the one,” but she wants definitive proof. Scott and the team offer to send Laura into a local pub to subtly seduce him while Chloe listens in.

The plan begins with Chloe describing her boyfriend’s type—tall, blonde, curvy—which Laura fits reasonably well. But things immediately go awry when Laura approaches what she thinks is him, only for the mystery man to reveal he’s Welsh. Chloe confirms that’s definitely not her boyfriend, who isn’t Welsh, and Laura has to beat a hasty retreat from her unsuspecting target with an awkward excuse.

After regrouping, Laura spots another man sitting alone in the back room and approaches him with compliments about his T-shirt and offers of drinks. She even suggests going to other venues nearby, turning up the flirtation dial noticeably. But this time the boyfriend holds firm: he politely but consistently declines her advances, saying he’s already late and needs to go. Laura’s charm offensive fails to budge him.

By the end, Chloe is vindicated—her friends were wrong. Her boyfriend passed the test with flying colours, refusing temptation and staying loyal. Scott congratulates him, and Chloe gets her reassurance that he really is telling the truth about being a changed man.
