Last nightâs gathering and a missing taxi fare
Thursday began with the aftermath of the Radio 2 Presenter Gathering, and Scott was immediately exposed for claiming heâd âjust pop inâ before being spotted as âthe last person at the bar with Mark Radcliffe.â Tina, meanwhile, found herself in the middle of unexpected financial drama after trying to be helpful to Joel Dommett, whose phone had died â along with all his cards.
Tina explained sheâd booked him a taxi home on her app, only to realise she couldnât book one for herself afterwards, couldnât track down repayment details, and ended up getting home via a tube-and-second-taxi relay. âI was tracking Joel on the way home,â she admitted, before immediately acknowledging how that sounded. By breakfast, Joel still hadnât replied, debt collectors were being nominated by listeners, and Scott was already imagining a Radio 2 edition of Canât Pay, Weâll Take It Away.
January health hacks⊠gone wrong 🌭
Scott unveiled what he described as a âhot hackâ for January snacking: filling a large insulated cup with frankfurters from a jar, topping them up with boiling water, and using tweezers to fish them out throughout the morning. The aim, he insisted, was to avoid chocolate and keep going between meals.
Ellie â a vegetarian â was politely horrified. Tina was deeply suspicious. Scott, however, was fully committed, describing the resulting liquid as âsausage brothâ and declaring it âdelicious,â while Ellie announced she might regret everything within minutes. Listener texts came thick and fast, with several claiming they could âsmell the sausages through the radio,â and others questioning how this could possibly replace a Twirl. Scott remained unfazed, noting that at least it wasnât chocolate.
The Good Morning Minute and life admin
The Good Morning Minute featured everything from nursery drop-offs and GCSE nerves to bell-ringing promotions and nose hair trimming. Scott paused on the latter to recommend professional barber waxing for both nasal and ear hair, describing it as âshort, sharp and painful, but quite satisfying.â
Inevitably, sausages crept back in, with Scott gently reminding listeners that raw pork chipolatas were not suitable for flasks.
Pause for Thought and accidental influencer mums
Ramona Ali brought Pause for Thought â along with a handwritten card from her mum, addressed directly to Scott. Ramona shared how sheâd helped her 74-year-old mother join Instagram purely to follow Scott and other Radio 2 voices, only to unleash a full-blown reels obsession. âLike Dr Frankenstein, I have created a monster,â she admitted, though she noted her mum hadnât laughed this much in years.
Scott read aloud part of the card, which congratulated him on his upcoming one-year anniversary on the show and wished him and Sam happiness and health. Ramona revealed sheâd temporarily blocked her mum from seeing one of Scottâs stories, purely so she could talk about her on air first.
The Easiest Quiz: Oasis heartbreak
Craig from Cardiff arrived armed with encyclopaedic Oasis fandom â vinyl, cassettes, posters, the lot â but his quiz run ended abruptly when he answered âLiam Gallagherâ to âName a male singer.â VAR was consulted, but the decision stood. To make amends, Scott let Craig choose any Oasis track, and âSlide Away,â which had been played at Craigâs wedding, was delivered in full. Listener sympathy flooded in, many agreeing the quiz had been âharshâ but redeemed by the song.
Geordia Winkleman takes the castle
The highlight for many was the appearance of Geordia Winkleman â Claudiaâs Geordie counterpart â previewing the final week of The Traitors. She promised the final âRune Tableâ would âtake your pure breath away,â while also admitting how much she misses Tess now Strictly is done.
The interview took an unexpected turn when it emerged the Newcastle sign behind Geordia wasnât mounted at all â her mum had been holding it up throughout, arm aching, just out of shot. Before signing off, Scott requested a horse impression in Claudia tradition, which Geordia bravely attempted despite knee trouble.
Listener reaction was instant and euphoric, with many declaring her their ânew faveâ and admitting they were late for appointments after laughing too hard.
