    The pair were spotted last week enjoying a cosy day out Mel’s daughter Scarlett, leaving fans wondering if they had been, er, spicing up their lives, writes Katie Hind in the Sunday People .

    They were later seen out running together. Had two indeed become one? Mel, 39, appeared to play down speculation about her and the slimmed-down former Radio 1 DJ she co-stars with in Jesus Christ Superstar.

    She said: “Chris is now one of my closet friends, this show has brought me so much more than I ever anticipated.â€

    The good news for Moyles, 39, is that Mel, also 39, did not rule out romance with someone – and admitted she tends to fancy men her own age.

    The mum-of-one split from boyfriend of ten years, Thomas Starr last July and is definitely looking for love. The bad news is she may now prefer someone younger.

    Scouser Mel said: “I wouldn’t rule out a toyboy. I tended to go for men my own age in the past. But I’m quite relaxed about age, it depends on the person’s maturity.â€

    Of her split with Tom, she said: “When you are in a long-term relationship and have a child, you don’t think you’re going to find yourself single – but life throws these things at us.â€

    what are the press like! They were on a charity run together that's all. Sure they've been good friends for years but it's ridiculous to say they're an item! They've both had bad news recently career wise and are probably just consoling each other

    I feel sorry for Chris Moyles.it's starting to look like his career is at a bit of a dead end .I'm surprised that he hasn't found something to do on tv or radio by now..he's one of the most naturally gifted radio DJs in the country.I think his reputation has put a lot of potential employers off, sadly :(

    Did he mention it at all on the show that it was going to be his last one? Will he not be subsituting any more either? We can only hope!

    Doesn't look like it I'm afraid. Phil Taggart seems to be the main stand in at weekends now,and Pete Allison stood in for Dev when he took a week off,so looks like Tom Deacons not going to be on Radio One at all from now on :(

    Just wandering has this been taken of air? It's just last night they started this new show called my playlist with gabriella aplom and then russel Kane meet week. Has been cancelled, or did it get taken of air for doing something wrong?

    Unfortunately Tom Deacon's show has been axed by Radio One.I've no idea why b ut wed april 3 was definately his last ever show.I was listening.Maybe he wanted to go on the comedy circuit full time or something
