  1. for those of you who do not know what 10 O'clock Live is have a look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10_O'Clock_Live

i have to say i think it's pretty good & i really didn't think that the presenters would be as good as they are on this type of show, David Mitchell is by far the best thing on the show due to his interviews for once he actually asks questions people want to know the answers to & he gets a answer out of them & also which is very rare lets the interviewee answer & then he comes back at them, the interview with Lib Dem MP Simon Hughes was especially good i thought.

ok i know the show is overtly left-wing, but it seems to be very popular with the 16-34 age range & viewing figures are not that to far from Question Times which as far as i can see has had it's day.

it seems that Lauren Laverne wasn't on to much on the last episode, after coming into criticism from viewers, but i do disagree because she isn't a comedian thus doesn't really fit in with the other presenters, but if a actual roll can be found for her then i think she could work really well.

what does everybody else think about the show ?

anything that can encourage younger people to get interested in politics & what the government are "actually" up to can only be a good thing.

PS, love the mentions in the shows of the Bilderberg's & Rothschild's :D

Yeah Alan it's a great show! The first episode was really really poor but after that it really picked up. I still can't quite work out why Lauren Laverne is there, she doesn't add much to the show. David Mitchell interviewing Alistair Campbell was the highlight of the series so far for me. A weird move to have it scheduled against Question Time though.

  2. A resounding NO from me. And this Government can go f*** itself. The Conservatives historically took from the poor to line the pockets of the rich, and NOTHING has changed. They will never get the vote in Scotland. NEVER.

And this is why we can't give Scotland independence. Because it screws over England, Wales and Northern Ireland. We need Scotland to prevent (or make it considerably harder) for the Tories to get a British majority.

  3. Is that Smart who once claimed he 'NEVER knowingly printed an untrue story'... right and Andy Coulson didn't know his paper was phonetapping people.

Because The Sun and The News of the World are the pinnacle of newspaper journalism and uphold the highest of moral and ethical standards. Oh, and they wouldn't dare lie. All heil Murdoch!

  4. By the looks of it, on UM anyway, Sara is becoming quite unpopular again :(

Radio 1 DJ's don't get annual leave... I'm not sure which it is but, they either have to pay the replacement DJ out of their wage or they don't get paid, one of the two...

They're freelance so are paid for the hours they're on air. If they're on holiday or off sick they don't get paid. I'd imagine they are paid for their R1 work for the time they're out and about for Comic Relief, CIN etc. though.

  5. Quite disappointed by the article and the questions. It's unfairly critical of Radio 1 and Chris Moyles.

The specialist takeovers on both Radio 1 and 1Xtra were a refreshing change from what is normally expected from the stations during the day. It is no coincidence in my opinion that the best presentersand the most widely respected DJs on both stations are the ones who have a genuine interest and understanding of music, whatever that genre of music is - eg. Nihal, Trevor Nelson, Chris Moyles, Zane Lowe, Ronnie Herel, Huw Stephens, Benjii B, Jo Whiley, Gilles Peterson, Nick Grimshaw, Mistajam, Annie Mac etc etc.

Radio 1 should really find a way of incorporating the majority of those into the daytime schedules and give them a certain amount of control over the tracklisting (maybe 3/10 tracks to be non-playlisted). The likes of Annie, Huw and the rest have shown time and time again that they are more than deserving of having a daytime show.

By the way, a more direct link to the article - http://www.nme.com/blog/index.php?blog=10&p=9622&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1#more9622

  6. If Matt Edmondson was able to get in for 5 then he probably had a bit more than an hours notice. Maybe Dev was ill and called in at about 2 or 3 and the earliest a cover presenter was able to get in for was 5? The 'Ooops' tweet was probably Dev messing about, making it sound like he had overslept or something.
