  1. £10.00 can pay for a volunteer to visit an isolated older person in the U.K., so they feel less alone....

I'm confused... volunteers generally, um, DON'T get paid apart from maybe travel costs...

That's what he always call himself!! It's supposed to be a running joke, I think ?!

like Moyles being the Saviour... wait, does that mean that Moyles is Mills' son?:crazy:

  2. this was rumoured to be true. but he was found out later to be an utter twat, like phillip schofield.

Ahh, thanks for clearing up that urban myth. Last time I listen to the streets.

I heard they had been offered a contract with Del Monte advertising, er, pineapples............

That's odd, I always thought of them more as Lemons...

  3. See I thought when it came out he actually LIKED Crazy Frog and was one of those people who had it as his ringtone etc, has he actually gone off it since?

Massive task today, can't help agreeing with Chris that they haven't thought it through and should have left this til Friday really... most of us would get knackered and wrecked after one building's worth (I know I do when I choose to go up 7 floors worth of steps in my building instead of taking the lift), he's gonna need a week off to recover after this...

  4. Yeah but how many newer artists are now going down the Myspace route or being completely independent? If anything from what I can tell it's the ones who have made the millions who DO have a problem with downloading, aside from Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails etc. Anyone remember Lily Allen's rant and how she said she was quitting music over it?

I'm not so sure artists DO actually need greedy record labels who take the lion's share of the profit and give artists very little anymore. Hell I used to work with a guy who was in a band and he said he'd rather give away the actual music online etc and make the money from touring, and that's by no means something he's alone on. It's the record companies that have the problem even though they're still raking it in, and if they tell one of their artists (Lily Allen, for example) to speak out against it, possibly with threats to their contract etc, is it any surprise we have these artists conveniently speaking out.

I'm also sure it doesn't need to be said yet again that downloading would probably be cut if they brought down the prices. Itunes has helped somewhat with this.

  5. It was a really interesting programme. Jo did a really good job, I think my favourite fact was that people that download illegally actually spend more money on legal downloads and music at about £77 a year, than people that only download legally who spend about £46 annually!

Yep and the record companies continue to whinge about how they're 'losing out' so badly... same as the movie studios who bring out movies that break (and by break I mean absolutely trample) previous records and complain the same thing... I mean hasn't the new Alice movie already beaten the point Avatar was at this long after release?

  6. Basically it's for Footy fans (although I guess it would apply to any sport) but means a fan wearing the shirt/strip etc of their favourite team's fiercest rivals. Mainly famous fans, but I don't see why us normos could also do it and get sponsored.

EG: A Man United Fan wearing an Arsenal or Chelsea Shirt.

For me, it would probably mean wearing a McLaren-Mercedes Shirt to a Grand Prix or something...

I'd be careful about saying you love things forced down your throat around here though :P

  7. That said, I do like the whole Danny Baker Shirt Of Hurt thing that 5Live has going, but maybe that's partly because they don't feel the need to constantly thrust it down the audience's throats, although they do have guests like Chappers on talking about it.

  8. Oh well, thems the breaks... sorry but I have no sympathy. Boo hoo, a guy who makes quite a lot of money loses a chance to make more due to things he did and admits to. It's up there with John Terry losing the England captaincy for me (except I don't see Terry losing out financially, plus he still gets to play the games he wants to play)...

  9. Enthusiasm and passion is fine... what these DJs etc do always feels more forced to me. Also I don't need an endless unrelenting campaign to tell me what a good cause is, I already donate some of what little I have spare to charity.

Also, terrorists and other extremists also have passion for their cause, and use that passion as an excuse to kill, are you saying that's good? (not that the BBC is at that level... yet:P)
