  1. His sense of irreverent humor and delivery is quite mint and brilliant. I've met Alex Zane and he is really brilliant!

i hope he does make it to radio one with cheeky pete and marc. I would listen to that all the time. I miss them on xfm but I also like Ian camfield.

  2. Hey you, I sent you a PM. Anyway, It's true. I don't really like that sort of radio, top 40 since I'm the type that can listen to xfm and radio 1 for hours on end. I like that eclectic variety. I never paid attention to the production, but if you do work in audio production it is definetely a great idea to hear what other successful radio stations are doing. In the USA, z1oo's annual revenue is a little over $60 million and they're always in the top ten highest billing stations of North America.

Your arguement is logical and I do respect it. It's hard to get separate personal radio tastes sometimes. It's just really frustrating to be in the a city like New York and not have a radio station that supports the music I like.

Last week I saw La Roux, late of the pier, and the whip in Brooklyn and i was on air.

  3. I kept this thread in the back of my mind when I went on my recent US holiday. Never did I expect it to be as bad as suggested. We had on 95.3 Orlando's number 1 for hip hop and they literally only have 3 songs and its just repeated all day with a few randoms thrown in. All the other stations were the same... if I hear "you spin me right round baby right round" or "my poker ker ker ker face" again, I think I will probably go crazy!!

The worst part is a lot of US top 40 stations speed up the music. I've been listening to the new top 40 station in New York and at least the presenters are interesting and aren't lame like z100. Nothing makes me more angry than z100 in a car (when I'm forced to be in one).

I can also listen to UK radio for hours on end. I love the Stephen Merchant show. I miss the Russell Brand show. Adam and Joe are mint too!

  4. hey Has anyone been watching FM?

I bloody love that telly show. The last episode with cameos from tim westwood, richard bacon, konnie huq, sway, annie mac, jamie theakston, was mint!

I've just bought the entire series on iTunes UK!

And Daniel Kaluyya (ades) is hilarious!

    Who here loves FM?

  5. I have talked to some of you who enjoy opie and anthony. Unfortunately - if you havent heard they won't be on terrestrial radio any longer.

Perhaps there is some site where you can hear their radio show. I think it will continue to be on XM in the states. not sure. Someone around here should hve the link. I prefer to listen to different types of radio programmes but it looks like the station, 92.3 krock is going to turn into a capital radio style station.

    I guess they're looking for a battle with z100...

  6. Has anyone here done a 6 music placement? I am just curious. I applied for one for june - just wondering if they're really competitive as well.

I do love Steve Lamacq and HUw Stephen's shows on there as well. What about 6 music do you like? lets start a conversation!

  7. Well when I want to download a podcast that's uk available only, i usually reroute my web server to a UK proxy address. I pay for one so It's secure all the time. However, there are other proxies from around the world that you can get around seeing music videos on. Seriously, someone else is always posting those things on their channel anyway. Don't worry!

  8. I LOVE SKINS TOO. It sucks being in america where i have to buy it on itunes and costs me 1.89 an episode, but oh well. I still get my skins. Did anyone hear skins radio on NMe in january? It was mint. Never knew Posh kenneth could be a radio presenter lol

  9. I would just say apply for it. There are always exceptions to the rule. Really, age is just a number. I managed to do freelance writing for a number of music magazines when I was about 14,15. It's really about what you've done and your potential ability. I'd say if you've had some years of radio experience under your belt already, you'd be a fair candidate for any sort of BBC work experience.

  10. if anyone here actually listens to american radio, please PM me about it. I'd love to hear what you like. And even if I don't like it, I am just curious. I had no idea the english even enjoyed american radio! Besides, its not all bad. NPR programmes are of great quality.

  11. If people like the type of radio they like, they'll listen to it.

There are young people that like Classic FM and probably even older people who enjoy Moyles in the morning.

Bottom line, you can't stop people from listening to the type of radio they like.

I don't see what the big deal is. Surely they cannot sack any presenter over 30, that would be plain ludicrous. I also do not understand why the hell commercial radio would have a stink over Radio one "not serving their demograpic".

Ironically, Richard Skinner is on XFM. He is the oldest presenter on XFM and the only one not to have his picture on the website. He once worked for radio one,.. before most of us were born.

  12. WAQX-FM looks decent enough. Dedicated rock with Loveline on a night (and who doesn't love Loveline?).

But really, this is why people should buy Sirius XM - can listen to Stern, Opie & Anthony, Ron & Fez, Bubba, etc. Otherwise, you're stuck with Mancow, Imus and Fatty Limbaugh.

I used to listen to loveline on KROQ, That's the best way to listen to it. I think this is where the basis of the sunday surgery came from (that is my conjecture).

I miss it when Adam Carolla used to host loveline. However, thanks to stupid AMP radio adam is no longer doing radio. I have no idea how AMP is going to compete with KIIS 102.7.

do you subscribe to satellite sirius from the UK? Wow. I am not a fan of US radio and I was never allowed to listen to howard stern growing up. You seem like someone who would've enjoyed wnew and K-rock in new york when it had howard

    For the name alone?

that's hilarious! wonder if ofcom would ever approve wank FM in the UK. I don't get the use of a 4 letter radio station ID starting with a W or K. It's purely a north american thing with canadaian stations starting with a C and Mexican starting with a X

Whos he? The guy who makes the jingles/imaging is called Dave Foxx (known as Prod God). He's been doing it for over 20 years. He is also the promo voiceover.

Capital radio? You've got to be joking. Its one of the worst stations in the UK and i dont listen to it for that reason. I have in the past and ended up wanting to jump off a building. I enjoy listening to stations in the US just to see what they are doing and talking about. Its a great source for inspiration at times.

I listen to Z100 (NY), KIIS FM (LA) and Howard Stern.

I'm not saying that they arn't added to playlists. Im saying that they are released two months later in the UK than they are in the US.

I've never heard Z100 play Take That, and Take That dont have a publisher in the US and therefore can't release material there. Unless it gets leaked/sent.

    Hey Inxces,

I think its cool, you like US radio, I like UK radio. It's always interesting to see what raido is like in other places, I guess.

you seem interesting to talk to about UK/US radio regardless of what your preferences are, feel free to PM me.

    LJ

Oh and Skeery is the producer for the elvis duran show on z100.

Oh and Skeery is the producer for the elvis duran show on z100.

  13. A colleague of mine actually interviewed Skeery for a uni project and he's the producer there. I never really gave it a proper listen, but what do you like about the production? Hmm what particular USA pop artists were played at z100 that were not added to Capital 95.8's playlists months later? I am just curious. Both have jingle bell concerts though! Take that is virtually known to the average z100 listener. there's something interesting.

I dunno, It would be nice to hear artists like MR shortie or La roux in America but I guess the USA isn't hip to the hop lol.
