That is definitely an odd one. Very curious to see what it is she's talking about and why she feels she is unable to be on air.
The BBC Music Awards are coming, hosted by Fearne and Chris Evans.

I've always found weather on national radio to be a bit redundant. It's far too vague (for obvious reasons).
-
Well, nobody's confirmed whether Aled is staying or not, although there's nothing to say he's going either. I like hearing Aled on the Surgery though, as a surviving Moyles team member. I like hearing Tina on the news as well for the same reason. I think he's a great host, and at the moment I don't think there's anybody else who could do it.
He's said on Twitter that "Wednesday is the new Sunday". So he should still be hosting it.
Aside from that I'm not sure The Rock Show on a Sunday is a good idea. I can't imagine putting a niche, specialist show on so early will get many listeners.
Not surprised at the leavers really. Glad Alice Levine is getting a promotion - hopefully a stepping stone for taking over Fearne's slot one day.
-
New IDs on Gemma's show too.
-
Looks like they've started to use the new imaging! Heard one of the cuts on Dev's show today!
Just listened on the iPlayer. Sounds like a new voiceover at the very end? She seems to be used in conjunction with the current female.
Scott played a whole load of new idents earlier too I notice.
-
Hopefully a change is on the cards though. It would explain why two ident updates never aired.
-
Isn't this 'one' just an edited version of Holly? It sounds similar to her, they are using editied versions of old voiceovers now and again. Louis Mellis is constantly used as a 'one' voice
I did wonder if it was the pre-Holly voiceover.
Saying that, recent imaging hasn't contained much of the current female voiceover. The Weekend Breakfast Show's jingles are all voiced by the male.
-
I believe the current female voiceover is Katie Bookless.

Still not heard them on-air. That's two updates that have effectively been a waste of time.
Even the older idents aren't getting played as often during the day as they used to. On Fearne's show there's an ident at the beginning followed by the same ID which gets used exclusively afterwards. It's all sounding very stale.
Scott's show is the only daytime show that has a bit of variation with IDs.
I know this all ultra-geeky and all, but imaging makes a big difference to the sound of a station.

Still not heard this package on-air. It sounds pretty good as well.
-
Interesting, I wonder if this batch will make it to air. I never did hear last autumn's update in the end.
-
Grimmy was taken to hospital after swallowing glass apparently.
-
Whilst doing a bit of browsing on jingle sites (as you do), I discovered some Radio 1 idents which I don't think have ever been aired. Looks like they were made for Autumn last year.

Complete stab in the dark, but they sound like the work of Emergency Production Music (EPM). I could be well off with that however.
-
It's the 'Extra' bit that confuses me. And the fact the description says 'new TOH news', which would suggest extra news at the top of the hour instead of on the half hour.
Who knows.

"Smartphone generation"? Ugh. Such predictable 'trying to be cool' language.
As for the changes, fair play. Not shocked about Vernon's departure, but surprised about Reggie going. He always sounded fairly target audience.
I like Matt and Jameela, so good luck to them.

11:30am on Thursday

probably at 2:30? why do you say that?
He normally does 11:30 onwards doesnt he?
Pretty sure Dom used to do the morning updates and Newsbeat on a Monday.
-
Have we found out who it is yet?

Found an interesting chat with Radio 1's Station Sound Manager on the current imaging:

Fellow geeks might be interested in PURE Jingles' website, which appears to have the entire sweeper package.

I was driving from Glasgow to Edinburgh today and most of the time it did say 'BBC R1'.
I wonder...
-
Normally it'll revert to 'BBC R1' or 'BBC.R1' on the RDS feed if there's an issue at the transmitter and a backup has kicked in. You see it every so often, and I'm pretty sure my car said 'Radio 1' when I was out earlier so it's probably just a mistake.
It used to be 'BBC R1' permanently but changed in the late 90s/early 2000s, so I'm presuming the backup name wasn't changed back then.

The last update from Pure Tonic Media was January 2011. Nothing more after that. Basically they created updates in August/Sep/Oct/Nov/Dec 2010 and January 2011, then it all suddenly stopped....
Pure Tonic got swallowed up by Reelworld in summer last year so perhaps that had something to do with the lack of updates from then on, and the introduction of a new package.

Was quite nice to listen to Danny Howard yesterday. Interestingly the link to Glastonbury failed (anyone remember the similar Jo Whiley/Chris Moyles incident?) which meant that he had to stay on the air for a while after 7pm.
