Oh my goodness. Newsbeat have uploaded the jingles to their YouTube page.
-
So who will be up at 06:30 like me to hear the new Newsbeat jingle?
Oh probably. No point in masking my nerdiness.
-
Hopefully we can find out who produced the jingles, and in turn hope that they upload the beds to their website. I always like to hear these things clean.
And I'm fully aware how nerdy this post is but oh well.
-
Interestingly (or not) the bed Greg played of the current theme has a different voiceover to what is on the air. Either that or it's the same voiceover with a different accent.
I'm glad Greg cares about us nerds.
-
Listen to the start of greg james' podcast. He explains how the new newsbeat theme will be starting in the new year. And he plays a sneaky clip!
Ooo, exciting stuff.
-
It was played a few weeks ago when they broadcast live from the Lebanon-Syria border. Seems to be getting used for particularly sad top stories.
-
I thought she sounded pretty good, even if she did call the station 1Xtra 3 or 4 times. I don't think it was a trial, she done 6-10am over on 1Xtra so must have been last minute.
-
Pure Jingles have updated their website with the new Radio 1 idents, included some as of yet unheard cuts. I love the energy of this package.
-
I noticed that the other day, it sounds rather out of place.
Another nerdy observation, Greg and Fearne rarely play the idents and opt for the IDs. I've always wondered if that's a creative decision or not.
-
If anyone cares, Dev had to take over from Fearne today at 12 as she wasn't feeling well.

I think Grimmy will be on breakfast for quite a while. He's bang on target for their young audience agenda, plus listening figures aren't all bad considering.
Greg's perfect for drivetime (whooo). His show's a great listen, but I think he'll have the Mills curse in that he might not ever get breakfast. I hope I'm wrong though - he's easily my favourite on Radio 1. The Sony Gold reflects that.
I also feel like Alice Levine is being set up to take over Fearne - she fits the bill perfectly. I'd be torn between Dev and Matt Edmondson for the afternoon slot though, and it'd be interesting to see where Chris Stark ends up when Scott eventually leaves. He's a staple of Scott's show but too good to just chuck away.
-
Adele sat in for Gemma too.
Half hour Newsbeat special as well.
-
He definitely had IDs that Mike voiced, I've heard them when he's covered drive.
That's because he used to do early breakfast, which doesn't have a dedicated jingle package.
-
Dev probably does have new voices, but for whatever reason he never plays his name IDs, only generic Radio 1 ones. He does have a few funny ones he uses sometimes recorded by Matt Fincham, like "Dev- the one with the fat voice". Don't think they'll bother updating the 10 Minute Takeover, they didn't the last time they changed the voices until he got the new jingles if I remember correctly. Dev's ramp, as well as the podcast intros still have Holly and David, so I don't think they're in a hurry to update absolutely everything
Dev probably doesn't have generic name IDs made. His permanent slot is the Weekend Breakfast Show which has it's own package.
-
Holly's chart intro was shortlived. Heard a new version today with the new voiceovers, minus the 'listen from 4, watch from 6' tag.
The 5pm news intro has been updated too.
Posted this in the wrong thread, doh.

I think one of the female voiceovers (Louisa I believe) done the imaging for Radio 1 in Ibiza.
Her voice rings a bell.
-
Lots to say!
Greg had a very geeky conversation with Chris Smith with the News just after the 4:30 news, naming all four of the new voiceovers. Louisa, Kyle, Rebecca and Merv. And I have a feeling Rebecca (the Scottish one) may have been one of the voices on the Big Weekend imaging? I could be wrong.
So far there seems to be new station and presenter idents (a couple of which I've heard seem to be re-edits of the old idents) as well as new IDs (obviously). Quite a bit of old imaging has snuck through - Newsbeat up until late-afternoon, the Ten Minute Takeover, and the official number one jingle (which for some reason features Holly off of the olden days).
As usual when they change the voiceovers on the news it sounds a bit off but I'm sure we'll adjust.
Overall, a decent update. Good to hear Radio 1 sounding a bit fresher today.

Looks like Even More Music Month is coming back this September, with 30 days of Live Lounges.

The only Newsbeat by Music4 I can find is this from 2006. Is this the one you're referring to?
I don't think the 2009 package, or the slight update to the 2007 one, ever appeared on the Music4 website.
I found the '09 intro on YouTube: http://youtu.be/SE33tW5bvvg

I never specifically disliked the current package, but I always loved the Music4 one that preceded it. Heard it on a Moyles clip the other day and it just sounds so exciting and has a great build-up.

How much of the day is 1xtra Newsbeat different from Newsbeat? Or is it just breakfast?
It's just breakfast that has it's own bulletins on 1Xtra.
-
What are the full Newsbeat times of the day? And which are different on 1xtra?
For a weekday I'm pretty sure it's
06:30, 07:00, 07:30, 08:00, 08:30, 09:30, 10:30, 11:30, 12:45, 13:30, 14:30, 15:30, 16:30, 17:00, 17:45, 22:00
1Xtra's the same although I don't think they run a bulletin at 06:30.
-
Very different from what they've had before. I suspect if this makes it to air they'll be tweaked to include the new female voiceover at the end.
The sound of Newsbeat 2015!

Had a few listens, and I actually quite like them. They seem to have a good balance between serious-sounding yet keeping within the overall sound of Radio 1/1Xtra. There's a decent build-up which I feel the last package lacked.
The sonic logo isn't hugely original - it's basically just the same note twice. But times have changed since the 1tro days and Radio 1 doesn't have a four-note logo anymore so I suppose the news should be no different.
I'll reserve my full judgement until I hear it on-air tomorrow but so far I'm impressed.
