Adele Roberts reveals health scare as lump removed after months of worry

Radio presenter and former Big Brother star Adele Roberts has opened up about a worrying health scare that led to surgery and fresh rounds of hospital tests.

Roberts, 45, told followers she’d spent months concerned about a lump that appeared on her neck at the start of the summer. After it continued to grow and failed to respond to treatment, she was referred to a specialist who removed it.

This week, she received the news she had been hoping for: the lump was benign.

“It’s been on my mind for a while,” she said on Instagram, explaining that recent health issues had left her feeling she could “never take anything for granted”. The ordeal, she added, had made her and partner Kate Holderness “a bit more weird than usual”.

Roberts said she was placed on a waiting list for surgery just before running the Sydney Marathon, where the challenge helped her stay positive while the uncertainty weighed on her. Despite being left with what she described as a “wonky scar”, she said she felt proud of it, calling it her own piece of kintsugi – the Japanese art of embracing imperfections.

Alongside the positive news about the lump, Roberts also revealed she is undergoing further investigations relating to her bowel. An attempted endoscopy this week was unsuccessful due to complications with the preparation process, and she will return for a second attempt under sedation.

The broadcaster, who lives with a loop ileostomy following bowel cancer treatment, joked about the ordeal and thanked NHS staff for their care.

Ending her post with a message to others, Roberts urged anyone worried about symptoms to seek help, adding that “early detection saves lives”.
