Is Chappers leaving?

I still prefer Laura... I will always prefer Laura. Beccy is OK, but a bit too impertinent to Scott. Also didn't like the fact that she missed a 'phone call offering Scott a helicopter ride to a gig, and he wound up travelling by road.

I would have given her a P45 for that.

This is seriously sad. I love Beccy, but Scott, Chappers and Laura were the ones I started listening for. I was really sad when Laura left, but Chappers leaving is gonna be even worse. Sadder still is the fact that there's gonna be no more Chappers and Dave. The year I start uni and could have actually seen them, too! :(

Is Chappers really leaving Radio 1 . Why. I think Scott , Beccy , TOWDS , Chappers , The PR4L and the PR4M make a really good team .

I hope Scott and Beccy don't leave Radio 1 because I think they r both good especially Beccy as I find it funny when she laughs.

Will Scott b watching Celebrity Total Wipeout on the 2nd of January as Sam & Mark r on the show then. I know Fathama Whitbread is also taking part in it as well so is Joe Swash.

To be fair we have all been saying and expecting this for a long time now.

Now, if it was a prank, what a rubbish one.

It was removed and the other person who would do anything about it is Jono, and he has this thread.

Now, if he hadn't looked at twitter in whatever it was, maybe 2 hours while the tweet was there. The 'prank' would be nothing.

Final thought, Becky is so always going to win OWO :)

The thing that dosen't tally up about all this is that Scotts only on for 4 days on breakfast next week then thats the show off until 2010, so if we are to beleive that Chappers is leaving before the end of the year then are they only going to give the listeners 4 days notice? Surely with Chappers being as important to the show as Scott then you think they would make a big deal of him leaving and would have made this public a bit more in advance. I really would be devasted if Chappers left and would proberly not listen really any more as Scott needs Chappers and Becky for the show to work, the way that Moyles would'nt be the same without Dave. Hopefully this is just a prank, but I'm fearing the worst

:( shame.

chappers going is very different to laura leaving the show, laura wasn't that hard to replace (bright & bubble woman) much harder to find someone to replace chappers though when scott has been ill chappers & laura covered with no probs even now chappers & beccy do well when they cover, beccy & towds cannot cover now when scott is away, of course nothing can be done about this it's chappers decision, but i am unsure on how the show will recover from him going, as others have said about his wit & the way he plays the games with scott & beccy will be very hard to replace & i don't think it can because the rapport has been built up over such a long time.

i now think scott's show will now finish next year :(

good luck chopper :)

:)

    • There was a time when everyone knew Zane Lowe or Annie Mac or Judge Jules or Dave Pearce or Annie Nightingale. Does the Radio 1 generation know the current bunch?
    • Looks like it's off to Preston!
    • Would be nice to give more presence to the specialist shows over bank holidays. Surely the best way to promote new music credentials over anthems? As much as I accept it's very popular.
    • Peak radio 1 ! I agree with Bluestraw there was huge presence by specialist presenters then , certainly something I think radio1 could do more of now. Remember the takeover where specialist DJs would swap into main shows for a week? Or do we recall In New DJs We Trust, the competition on Chris moyles show where the winner would get a DJ set at radio 1s Ibiza weekend, and that is how Danny Howard’s radio career starters
    • Yeah. He started on R1 in the late 90's when they used do the 'Sessions in the Nations' where they used to split for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. He then moved to daytimes, firstly on weekends in 2003 then they replaced Mark & Lard on the mid afternoon slot in 2004.  Then he moved to late evenings as a specialist DJ.
    • Thanks for sharing that - I don't think I've seen it before. Didn't realise that Colin Murray off of Countdown and R5L used to be on R1! Several other current R2/R5L/R6M names there too.
    • 29th April has updated to show Dan back as presenter but still Nels in for Alyx on Introducing Rock.
    • Where do we think Radio 2 in the Park will be this year? Personally I'm thinking Swindon after Scott's clue of it having many roundabouts and since Big Weekend is at Luton I can't imagine they'd go to Milton Keynes.
    • Yeah, I feel like they need a big push on Jack to cement him in his new position. But it shouldn't just be Jack, you've got Sian and Alyx for instance, who are relatively new faces.
    • Now in it's third week, the new Capital Breakfast Show seems to be settling down well and there are more of the informal, random Jordan topics appearing.  Though it is clear he wants to be seen slightly differently. It really is a very decent listen.
    • Just watched that advert and it made me realise quite how many 'big' specialist presenters there were back then
    • I've been reminded of this Radio 1 cinema advert. I remember being so excited to see it. The In New Music We Trust era. Everything felt so cool, even if they had Westwood.
    • Just Vick and Katie on Wednesday (and presumably Thursday as well).
    • Unless people can provide a source for this information then it should be treated as false.   Why would Jordan sign a contract with the BBC in the autumn when he agreed a deal with Global?  He could have left in August and not had to deal with the BBC.  Vick who doesn't really like Global why would she recommend him to go there and then warn him in her post to be careful?   It's been whispered from October that Roman was thinking of going.  Roman and Jordan have the same management team.  Why would they put Jordan in a place where he would have to battle with the BBC.  They could have agreed a deal with Global for Jordan in the summer.  They might have had to pay first couple months but they would do they to secure him.  If they had known about Roman wanting to leave they could have paid Roman off to get Jordan on air quicker.  Global would also not had legal around BBC contract to deal with and would not have had to pay the BBC to release Jordan.  None of what people say makes sense and if it did happen the way people say then BBC are not the stupid ones.  It really is not a good look to be talking with Global for 6 months, to then sign a contract with a the BBC, continue to talk to Global behind BBC's back after signing and then couple of months later want to leave and to throw a hissy fit as the BBC are not giving you what you want when you want it. That not a good light for Jordan or his management.
    • Wow, surprised he signed a new contract in September but it says a lot about Jordan that he continued to a very high standard throughout last summer/autumn if this was all going on in the background.
