Ask TOTDS Anything!

Also, very geeky - but I'd like the beds. Don't know why.

Yeah they would be good, as well as the one Scott used to use at the beginning of the show. Zane's brass-type one, he always uses about 20mins into his show, would also be awesome :D

A lot to ask haha

If you were a DJ and you could host one persons show which would it be and why?

I'd probably do the Chart Show because my counting backwards skills are really quite advanced. I'd challenge anyone in a counting backwards from 40 - 1 competition.

Otherwise I'd do one where nobody is listening...I'm not keen on being a DJ myself. And no, I won't be drawn into specifics about whose shows nobody is listening to!

Really? I nicked the feature recently for a quiz night I was doing and used 5 clips - they took me around 3-5 minutes each to find off the iPlayer, bleep out a suitable word and save! Had everyone laughing too, so I can't have done that bad! I know you have to spend slightly longer than that for broadcast, but even so. :)

The thing with BBTV is that it gets dull if you keep doing the same words. If it's just words beginning with F or SH every week I think it loses its fun. So it's a constant hunt for more original and imaginitive words and they need to be in a humorous context.

That's why it takes the time. Blimey - I'm actually intellectualising about making things sound a bit smutty!

I love you?

(Thats a question)

You just think you do

For ages actually. Gives Scott a chance to nip outside for a bit of fresh air. ;)

I get in at about 9:30am. Beccy soon afterwards. Scott turns up about 1:30pm. Chappers is generally here by 3:29pm.

I also imagine pressing all those buttons is beyond Scott ;)

Wow, I just thought Beccy got in at before 10 during Becky Cam to make it look as though she works. I commend you!

Fresh air? I wouldn't call it that!

Love that, Chappers in just in time to do the news! ;)

can you get someone else to get Chappers back for Becky please, i really want him to be got back at :D

I do have a cunning plan actually. :*

has barack obama been in touch yet? :D

and the fake scott on twitter has 24000 followers. has any team member thought of officially tweeting?

Strangely Bazza's not called yet. Only a matter of time though.

I think Scott is loving the fact that he's on Twitter but doesn't actually have to do anything! We really must get our tweeting arses in gear though.

Do you prefer to be called The One That Doesn't Speak or The One Who Doesn't Speak? :)

Thanks!

I really don't mind. I'm not sure which one is more gramatically correct. Although grammar off of proper speaking has bothered us before!

Ima sure he is, anything for an easy life! You should get twitter TOTDS, then you can 'speak' in the show!

Yes one step at a time. I'm thinking about joining some new site called Friends Reunited or something? I've heard it's the in thing.

Right, time for a cuppa and an old episode of Spooks.

Til tomorrow.

Yeah it was, about 10 years ago :giggle:

Night night!

Why don't we get a podcast when greg fills in for scott? I think we had one once but thats about it...

Also have you heard of the aussie drivetime duo Hamish and Andy? I've been listening to their podcasts for over a year now the show is hilarious as well, you should do a joint show when you go and do sydney-oke ;)

    • There was a time when everyone knew Zane Lowe or Annie Mac or Judge Jules or Dave Pearce or Annie Nightingale. Does the Radio 1 generation know the current bunch?
    • Looks like it's off to Preston!
    • Would be nice to give more presence to the specialist shows over bank holidays. Surely the best way to promote new music credentials over anthems? As much as I accept it's very popular.
    • Peak radio 1 ! I agree with Bluestraw there was huge presence by specialist presenters then , certainly something I think radio1 could do more of now. Remember the takeover where specialist DJs would swap into main shows for a week? Or do we recall In New DJs We Trust, the competition on Chris moyles show where the winner would get a DJ set at radio 1s Ibiza weekend, and that is how Danny Howard’s radio career starters
    • Yeah. He started on R1 in the late 90's when they used do the 'Sessions in the Nations' where they used to split for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. He then moved to daytimes, firstly on weekends in 2003 then they replaced Mark & Lard on the mid afternoon slot in 2004.  Then he moved to late evenings as a specialist DJ.
    • Thanks for sharing that - I don't think I've seen it before. Didn't realise that Colin Murray off of Countdown and R5L used to be on R1! Several other current R2/R5L/R6M names there too.
    • 29th April has updated to show Dan back as presenter but still Nels in for Alyx on Introducing Rock.
    • Where do we think Radio 2 in the Park will be this year? Personally I'm thinking Swindon after Scott's clue of it having many roundabouts and since Big Weekend is at Luton I can't imagine they'd go to Milton Keynes.
    • Yeah, I feel like they need a big push on Jack to cement him in his new position. But it shouldn't just be Jack, you've got Sian and Alyx for instance, who are relatively new faces.
    • Now in it's third week, the new Capital Breakfast Show seems to be settling down well and there are more of the informal, random Jordan topics appearing.  Though it is clear he wants to be seen slightly differently. It really is a very decent listen.
    • Just watched that advert and it made me realise quite how many 'big' specialist presenters there were back then
    • I've been reminded of this Radio 1 cinema advert. I remember being so excited to see it. The In New Music We Trust era. Everything felt so cool, even if they had Westwood.
    • Just Vick and Katie on Wednesday (and presumably Thursday as well).
    • Unless people can provide a source for this information then it should be treated as false.   Why would Jordan sign a contract with the BBC in the autumn when he agreed a deal with Global?  He could have left in August and not had to deal with the BBC.  Vick who doesn't really like Global why would she recommend him to go there and then warn him in her post to be careful?   It's been whispered from October that Roman was thinking of going.  Roman and Jordan have the same management team.  Why would they put Jordan in a place where he would have to battle with the BBC.  They could have agreed a deal with Global for Jordan in the summer.  They might have had to pay first couple months but they would do they to secure him.  If they had known about Roman wanting to leave they could have paid Roman off to get Jordan on air quicker.  Global would also not had legal around BBC contract to deal with and would not have had to pay the BBC to release Jordan.  None of what people say makes sense and if it did happen the way people say then BBC are not the stupid ones.  It really is not a good look to be talking with Global for 6 months, to then sign a contract with a the BBC, continue to talk to Global behind BBC's back after signing and then couple of months later want to leave and to throw a hissy fit as the BBC are not giving you what you want when you want it. That not a good light for Jordan or his management.
    • Wow, surprised he signed a new contract in September but it says a lot about Jordan that he continued to a very high standard throughout last summer/autumn if this was all going on in the background.
