ive been doing film and television studies at uni for the past 4 weeks loads of people say media-related stuff is pointless and you shouldnt do it. But im really enjoying it and at the end of the day a degrees a degree right?... thats my way of thinking anyway dont spoil the illusion :P So yeah, make sure you choose subjects you enjoy. I remember hating 2/4 subjects i did at A level, i chose them because i could actually do them and didnt want a challenge ;)

Dynamoo - I've got to agree with you about languages. German is a right b****! I got an A at GCSE too - how much harder does it get?! Heheh I've been predicted a C too. Have you dropped it now?

lol! Emma loves it ;)

I'm doing both French and German at A2 :) to answer you're questions about emma though, she has dropped it. although im sure she regrets it a lot :P she doesn't get to write 1000 and 500 words courseworks for the language :P

the only thing with german which is really hard is the case system, which is a bit of a shock at first! and then when you get onto the harder topics, its not actually the language which is the problem, its getting the ideas in english!

French is easier i think grammar wise. german i got highest on in my ASs tho!

German gets a tad harder in the A2 year, the topics are a lot deeper, and more thought has to be put into them. and the cases matter more now. for example in coursework, cases will need to be checked etc. EVERY noun! and in the exam we have a translation exercise. one noun with the wrong case and... dropped mark for the small section

lol, well see how you get on.

all the courses get harder.

to me, stepping from GCSE to AS was a piece of cake, no probs. the AS to A2 is a tad harder, but i spose it doesnt help by the fact i chose to take 4 of them, and some of the hardest  ah well, bit of hard work never hurt anybody!

    • There was a time when everyone knew Zane Lowe or Annie Mac or Judge Jules or Dave Pearce or Annie Nightingale. Does the Radio 1 generation know the current bunch?
    • Looks like it's off to Preston!
    • Would be nice to give more presence to the specialist shows over bank holidays. Surely the best way to promote new music credentials over anthems? As much as I accept it's very popular.
    • Peak radio 1 ! I agree with Bluestraw there was huge presence by specialist presenters then , certainly something I think radio1 could do more of now. Remember the takeover where specialist DJs would swap into main shows for a week? Or do we recall In New DJs We Trust, the competition on Chris moyles show where the winner would get a DJ set at radio 1s Ibiza weekend, and that is how Danny Howard’s radio career starters
    • Yeah. He started on R1 in the late 90's when they used do the 'Sessions in the Nations' where they used to split for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. He then moved to daytimes, firstly on weekends in 2003 then they replaced Mark & Lard on the mid afternoon slot in 2004.  Then he moved to late evenings as a specialist DJ.
    • Thanks for sharing that - I don't think I've seen it before. Didn't realise that Colin Murray off of Countdown and R5L used to be on R1! Several other current R2/R5L/R6M names there too.
    • 29th April has updated to show Dan back as presenter but still Nels in for Alyx on Introducing Rock.
    • Where do we think Radio 2 in the Park will be this year? Personally I'm thinking Swindon after Scott's clue of it having many roundabouts and since Big Weekend is at Luton I can't imagine they'd go to Milton Keynes.
    • Yeah, I feel like they need a big push on Jack to cement him in his new position. But it shouldn't just be Jack, you've got Sian and Alyx for instance, who are relatively new faces.
    • Now in it's third week, the new Capital Breakfast Show seems to be settling down well and there are more of the informal, random Jordan topics appearing.  Though it is clear he wants to be seen slightly differently. It really is a very decent listen.
    • Just watched that advert and it made me realise quite how many 'big' specialist presenters there were back then
    • I've been reminded of this Radio 1 cinema advert. I remember being so excited to see it. The In New Music We Trust era. Everything felt so cool, even if they had Westwood.
    • Just Vick and Katie on Wednesday (and presumably Thursday as well).
    • Unless people can provide a source for this information then it should be treated as false.   Why would Jordan sign a contract with the BBC in the autumn when he agreed a deal with Global?  He could have left in August and not had to deal with the BBC.  Vick who doesn't really like Global why would she recommend him to go there and then warn him in her post to be careful?   It's been whispered from October that Roman was thinking of going.  Roman and Jordan have the same management team.  Why would they put Jordan in a place where he would have to battle with the BBC.  They could have agreed a deal with Global for Jordan in the summer.  They might have had to pay first couple months but they would do they to secure him.  If they had known about Roman wanting to leave they could have paid Roman off to get Jordan on air quicker.  Global would also not had legal around BBC contract to deal with and would not have had to pay the BBC to release Jordan.  None of what people say makes sense and if it did happen the way people say then BBC are not the stupid ones.  It really is not a good look to be talking with Global for 6 months, to then sign a contract with a the BBC, continue to talk to Global behind BBC's back after signing and then couple of months later want to leave and to throw a hissy fit as the BBC are not giving you what you want when you want it. That not a good light for Jordan or his management.
    • Wow, surprised he signed a new contract in September but it says a lot about Jordan that he continued to a very high standard throughout last summer/autumn if this was all going on in the background.
