Another big row with "orange" mobile company. My 'phone won't switch on sometimes, the sound records for approx. 3 seconds, the 'phone won't play a youtube video - so I went back to the shop, only to be told if I had bought a car, I would NOT return to the car dealer?! Er... I pay £15.00 per month for internet access, so I need to ask someone. Big row started and a crowd had gathered.

Went to Vodaphone, and they can do me internet for £5.00/month less... am looking into an ASHA 201 (white).

Oh god, you and your solar-powered ladies. LOL - I can never see any improvement in guys in my area.

I've spoken to a few guys about it and its definitly a noticeable thing where the women are concerned, although I would imagine you probably look more towards the guys so might not necessarily take much notice of the breasted types.

Sadly though we've gotta take the rough with the smooth, for every solar powered woman out and about in the summer there are many troads, golden deceivers and such like. I'll never forget one woman I saw one day when I was working, 5ft 3/4ish, really slim, tight purple coat, skinny jeans and knee high boots on. As I approached I was thinking ooooh hello, only for her to turn round and probably be old enough to be my mum. I felt violated lol.

Not impressed with censorship

Looks like I am finally going for my IT training from next week !!! Still to be confirmed (dates, times, etc.) Hopefully will learn things to benefit me !!

I have also been notified about a potential job interview. Closer to home, so less in travel expenses. Still have to research far more into it however.

Strange, I've been thinking about this site today. I remember the predecessor to this thread was called 'How Was Your Day' years and years ago.

I can't sleep so I've repaired my old PC tower and wired it up, got onto an old external hard drive too with loads of old Scott Mills shows I recorded for the site between 2005-2007.

Strange hearing some of the old tracks that was on the Radio 1 playlist back then, Goldie Lookin Chain - RnB, Oasis - Let There Be Love. Kanye West - Heard Em Say, and that awful 'Stick Wit U' track by the Pussycat Dolls has cropped up in some of the shows.

It's hard to believe it's been that long ago, digging up the old 'Your Views' threads too. Good to hear Chappers & Laura on some of these.

on the grid.

Oh DC, please please PLEASE find a way of getting all of them online somewhere. That amazing collection can't go unshared. Even if it involves going to an internet café (whooooooo) where the upload speeds are better. We need all of that classic (ish) Mills.

    • Radio 1 generation meaning??  Today's 10-30 yr-olds? I doubt it. They'll still know Pete Tong though, because he is rhyming slang!
    • There was a time when everyone knew Zane Lowe or Annie Mac or Judge Jules or Dave Pearce or Annie Nightingale. Does the Radio 1 generation know the current bunch?
    • Looks like it's off to Preston!
    • Would be nice to give more presence to the specialist shows over bank holidays. Surely the best way to promote new music credentials over anthems? As much as I accept it's very popular.
    • Peak radio 1 ! I agree with Bluestraw there was huge presence by specialist presenters then , certainly something I think radio1 could do more of now. Remember the takeover where specialist DJs would swap into main shows for a week? Or do we recall In New DJs We Trust, the competition on Chris moyles show where the winner would get a DJ set at radio 1s Ibiza weekend, and that is how Danny Howard’s radio career starters
    • Yeah. He started on R1 in the late 90's when they used do the 'Sessions in the Nations' where they used to split for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. He then moved to daytimes, firstly on weekends in 2003 then they replaced Mark & Lard on the mid afternoon slot in 2004.  Then he moved to late evenings as a specialist DJ.
    • Thanks for sharing that - I don't think I've seen it before. Didn't realise that Colin Murray off of Countdown and R5L used to be on R1! Several other current R2/R5L/R6M names there too.
    • 29th April has updated to show Dan back as presenter but still Nels in for Alyx on Introducing Rock.
    • Where do we think Radio 2 in the Park will be this year? Personally I'm thinking Swindon after Scott's clue of it having many roundabouts and since Big Weekend is at Luton I can't imagine they'd go to Milton Keynes.
    • Yeah, I feel like they need a big push on Jack to cement him in his new position. But it shouldn't just be Jack, you've got Sian and Alyx for instance, who are relatively new faces.
    • Now in it's third week, the new Capital Breakfast Show seems to be settling down well and there are more of the informal, random Jordan topics appearing.  Though it is clear he wants to be seen slightly differently. It really is a very decent listen.
    • Just watched that advert and it made me realise quite how many 'big' specialist presenters there were back then
    • I've been reminded of this Radio 1 cinema advert. I remember being so excited to see it. The In New Music We Trust era. Everything felt so cool, even if they had Westwood.
    • Just Vick and Katie on Wednesday (and presumably Thursday as well).
    • Unless people can provide a source for this information then it should be treated as false.   Why would Jordan sign a contract with the BBC in the autumn when he agreed a deal with Global?  He could have left in August and not had to deal with the BBC.  Vick who doesn't really like Global why would she recommend him to go there and then warn him in her post to be careful?   It's been whispered from October that Roman was thinking of going.  Roman and Jordan have the same management team.  Why would they put Jordan in a place where he would have to battle with the BBC.  They could have agreed a deal with Global for Jordan in the summer.  They might have had to pay first couple months but they would do they to secure him.  If they had known about Roman wanting to leave they could have paid Roman off to get Jordan on air quicker.  Global would also not had legal around BBC contract to deal with and would not have had to pay the BBC to release Jordan.  None of what people say makes sense and if it did happen the way people say then BBC are not the stupid ones.  It really is not a good look to be talking with Global for 6 months, to then sign a contract with a the BBC, continue to talk to Global behind BBC's back after signing and then couple of months later want to leave and to throw a hissy fit as the BBC are not giving you what you want when you want it. That not a good light for Jordan or his management.
