Nope been excited all day in school about it to come home to

We are very sorry to say that unfortunately you have not been allocated

tickets for Radio 1's Big Weekend through the ballot.

I guess I expected it though living so far away. I will just have to listen on the radio and watch it on BBC 3.

Please anyone who is lucky enough to have gotten tickets take loads of photos and post the pictures and tell us who arent as lucky what it was like. :)

hey all, both me and my hubbie were unsuccessful , and are both quiet upset as we live not far from mote park and have learned that people in chatham sittingbourne etc have got tickets , i'm 7months pregnant and it would have made a nice treat before he was born to go to the big weekend as we do not get out much. Also hubbie is a music teacher and a great musician and would have been great buzz for him to see all these bands.

but mores to a pity we are going to have to miss out on a fantastic weekend like so many other people that live in maidstone. shame

My boyfriend was unsuccessful. I still haven't heard.

I think they should have organised it a bit earlier as it's quite difficult for some people to sort everything out one week before the BW.

It prevents it all going tits-up though. It'd be far too easy to sell them on ebay if it went that way. I do agree though, last year it was impossible to find anywhere cheap to stay and beyond the point of 'advanced' train tickets. This year I booked my accommodation and train tickets long before I'd got any tickets on the off chance.

Nope no tickets for me but I hadn't realised how much crap my spam filter cuts out thank god for the search function. Enjoy it if you're going and remember to throw things at basshunter and the kooks(it's the law)

My girlfriend has never heard of Basshunter. Lucky her.

Indeed I would like one of the Men In Black style devices to forget it. I had to use the bus the other day for the first time in ages and their new one was blaring out of someones phone (never quite understood this why would you want to listen to a badly encoded mono copy of a song) Thank god for noise cancelling headphones. I have my car back now so my sanity is preserved :B)

Download the Adam and Joe & Jon Richardson podcasts now!

    • There was a time when everyone knew Zane Lowe or Annie Mac or Judge Jules or Dave Pearce or Annie Nightingale. Does the Radio 1 generation know the current bunch?
    • Looks like it's off to Preston!
    • Would be nice to give more presence to the specialist shows over bank holidays. Surely the best way to promote new music credentials over anthems? As much as I accept it's very popular.
    • Peak radio 1 ! I agree with Bluestraw there was huge presence by specialist presenters then , certainly something I think radio1 could do more of now. Remember the takeover where specialist DJs would swap into main shows for a week? Or do we recall In New DJs We Trust, the competition on Chris moyles show where the winner would get a DJ set at radio 1s Ibiza weekend, and that is how Danny Howard’s radio career starters
    • Yeah. He started on R1 in the late 90's when they used do the 'Sessions in the Nations' where they used to split for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. He then moved to daytimes, firstly on weekends in 2003 then they replaced Mark & Lard on the mid afternoon slot in 2004.  Then he moved to late evenings as a specialist DJ.
    • Thanks for sharing that - I don't think I've seen it before. Didn't realise that Colin Murray off of Countdown and R5L used to be on R1! Several other current R2/R5L/R6M names there too.
    • 29th April has updated to show Dan back as presenter but still Nels in for Alyx on Introducing Rock.
    • Where do we think Radio 2 in the Park will be this year? Personally I'm thinking Swindon after Scott's clue of it having many roundabouts and since Big Weekend is at Luton I can't imagine they'd go to Milton Keynes.
    • Yeah, I feel like they need a big push on Jack to cement him in his new position. But it shouldn't just be Jack, you've got Sian and Alyx for instance, who are relatively new faces.
    • Now in it's third week, the new Capital Breakfast Show seems to be settling down well and there are more of the informal, random Jordan topics appearing.  Though it is clear he wants to be seen slightly differently. It really is a very decent listen.
    • Just watched that advert and it made me realise quite how many 'big' specialist presenters there were back then
    • I've been reminded of this Radio 1 cinema advert. I remember being so excited to see it. The In New Music We Trust era. Everything felt so cool, even if they had Westwood.
    • Just Vick and Katie on Wednesday (and presumably Thursday as well).
    • Unless people can provide a source for this information then it should be treated as false.   Why would Jordan sign a contract with the BBC in the autumn when he agreed a deal with Global?  He could have left in August and not had to deal with the BBC.  Vick who doesn't really like Global why would she recommend him to go there and then warn him in her post to be careful?   It's been whispered from October that Roman was thinking of going.  Roman and Jordan have the same management team.  Why would they put Jordan in a place where he would have to battle with the BBC.  They could have agreed a deal with Global for Jordan in the summer.  They might have had to pay first couple months but they would do they to secure him.  If they had known about Roman wanting to leave they could have paid Roman off to get Jordan on air quicker.  Global would also not had legal around BBC contract to deal with and would not have had to pay the BBC to release Jordan.  None of what people say makes sense and if it did happen the way people say then BBC are not the stupid ones.  It really is not a good look to be talking with Global for 6 months, to then sign a contract with a the BBC, continue to talk to Global behind BBC's back after signing and then couple of months later want to leave and to throw a hissy fit as the BBC are not giving you what you want when you want it. That not a good light for Jordan or his management.
    • Wow, surprised he signed a new contract in September but it says a lot about Jordan that he continued to a very high standard throughout last summer/autumn if this was all going on in the background.
