Gavin and Stacey

There's not much I find on the BBC digital channels that are 'appointment-to-watch' but Gavin and Stacey is one of those shows that is actually quite funny for a British show.

Anyone else a fan of this show in the world of UM?

I caught an episode last week for the first time, and spent last night having a session on the iPlayer, all I can say is I absolutely love it and would kill to be Stacey; imagining having Ness as your best friend! And I really fancy Smithy.

I love Gavin and Stacey! :D Got the first series on dvd this week, spent all last night re-watching it, a night well spent I think! Love the new series 2. Who's your favourite character? Everyone I know that watches it is different. Personally mines Nessa, i love her accent and the way she speaks!

Ooops forgot to reply to this one.

I have only started watching this recently, but it seems to be a really well-written/performed, romantic, truly funny sitcom. I find Rob Brydon's character absurdly amusing.

I'd like it to be be repeated a bit more often too.

I think Smithy Co writes the show doesn't he?

James Corden and Ruth Jones, Smithy and Nessa respectively are the writers.

Has anyone ever seen her on Nighty Night? Very funny, but seriously dark comedy.

I tried watching it today, but, possibly due to my baby niece being in a grumpy mood today, I couldn't get into it.

I think I should hunt down a first season box set because it sounds really good.

Maybe I should wait until my exams are over... have done bugger all revision this holiday and it's back to school on Tuesday.

But definitely after that. 67 days and counting.

Aaaaaah. Just watched the last episode of Gavin and Stacey. I seriously hope there'll be more after the Christmas special!

It made me both laugh and cry. It is so easy for me to identify with; infact I almost got a bit paranoid and thought the writers had been following me around fo the past year or so. This is a pretty impressive achievement - as I'm certain I'm not the only person who feels this way.

Now I'll just have to satisfy myself with watching the episodes I've missed 'til Christmas.

    • At a time when Radio 1 has surely lost listeners to Capital at Breaktast you’d be trying to protect the station so people switch back.  Certainly yesterday I didn’t switch back to Radio 1 at all.
    • Was abysmal…Surely Danny can’t be a contender for anything permanent when the new schedules are locked in I.e Matt and Mollies slot
    • Alexandra Burke creating the phrase 'Elephant In The Room' whooooooooo
    • Zane Versus.... Whooooooooo. Do You Do Fridays? WhooOOOooo.
    • The Capital Breakfast show is right up my street so far - such a fun listen. You've both been great on Radio 1 and are sounding excellent again on Capital A few quickfire questions: You've both been part of some great pairings on radio and on podcast - what goes into making a duo or trio work and sound great on air? Also, Chris - were there ever any discussions about you moving over to Radio 2 with Scott or had the Global offer already come first? Also how do you both go about managing that split between your radio 'you' and the private 'you'? You share a lot on air but also there's some understandably some stuff you keep private (famously Jordan doesn't 'talk about those things'). And how do you make sure if you're having a miserable day or are a bit low that it doesn't come across too much on air?
    • What a nightmare link at 11.15am this morning. Spent 30 seconds waffling about the name of The Last Dinner Party as if he’d never heard it before, then started mentioning Capital and the license fee, and how it’s been used to pay for him to be there, and was then cut off by the start of the next song.
    • Have been reading this all week. She's such a brave woman. Just got to the chapter where she explains why she missed Scott's leaving event at Radio 1. She talks about leaving Radio 1 because her mum's health got worse, and wanting to quietly leave radio at 44 just how she first arrived on the airwaves at 18. Worth a read!
    • Frozen Indigo Angel... Whoooooooo?!!
    • Did it take a lot of tempting to go to Capital Jordan? Did you feel like you’d achieved everything you could at Radio 1 (other than breakfast)? Chris, how did your Capital move come about? Did Radio 1 want you to stay after Scott moved on?

    • I never expected to be enjoying a commercial radio Breakfast Show, but this is a good listen and less adverts than I might have expected.
    • It's got more of a Fri/ Sat feeling to it, for me. But there's nothing inherently wrong with the show.
    • Think it's a lot more fun when they don't have guests and have to find ideas to fill a show.  Them doing some calming traffic reports around the most stressful part of the day. I wonder if there's more they could do with that - 8.15am being the most stressful time. Anyway, I think that of most radio shows, I'd rather hear the creativity than an overhyped celebrity. Greg had it right yesterday with Tom Allen, he wasn't really just there to promote The Apprentice, but to do comedy too.
    • Got to admit I only heard a bit of it tonight whilst driving but I loved it! Will definitely be listening back to this one and in future. Just what Thursday nights needed! 💗
    • Right, despite what Jordan may say now, I think he (and probably Chris) would rather be doing R1 breakfast but seems he was told that wasn't at all imminent so made the understandable move to go elsewhere. Doubt Greg will move off breakfast anytime soon as he's got a new contract and anyway no obvious replacement in line... They certainly have thrown some energy behind competing these last couple of weeks though.
