it wouldn't even cost them a penny to help me would it? but i have to stay self employed anyway, i'm owed money from some work i did before that's yet to come through.

i don't want their money, i sympathise with people who want to work and have no choice but to sign on. but i've never done that since i left school and i don't want to start now!

Oi! I have a cat and I am reasonably normal :P

Define Reasonably... I just wanna know what kind of perspective to work from here :hahaha:

Nah all the cat people I know are lovely. One would love loads of cats but her boyfriend will only let her have two, apparently it's been a subject of many an argument but if it came to it, she'd choose the cats.

Using the words "dole dosser" is unbelievable. in these days of high unemployment, it is hard for anyone to get employed, never mind a god like yourself. did u know five million vacancies would have to be created to solve the current situation, including disability and incapacity benefit people. so, yeh, job centres are way too busy for someone who HAS a job.

Using the words "dole dosser" is unbelievable.

I have to say I think it depends on who the words are being used towards as to whether its offensive or not.

I've known of people who have find themselves out of a job through redundancy and want to get back into some kind of work ASAP, infact the dad of a friend of mine has started working in my old work because he was in that very same position. People like him it is totally wrong to describe as that as because they don't want to live off benefits etc.

However I have also known of people who live off the state. Exgirlfriends cousin and her waste of space boyfriend were exactly those kind of people. I think its completely right to describe those people as dole dossers, they were the type who had the fancy tv, phones, consoles, clothes etc. Its the same with someone else I know of who got it all because she fell pregnant, and to top it off these kind of people are the ones who are likely to use phrases such as ".......when I get my money through". Sorry but its not their money, they havent earned it and get it because of the complicated and at times seriously flawed benefits syetem we have in Britain.

I'm not saying that that sort of circumstance applies to anyone on here, just that I think while some would find the phrse dole dosser offensive, there are also times where it is an entirely accurate way of describing their lifestyle.

Yeh, like you say, it depends on the circumstances, but people (and the media fuel it) do tend to look at an unemployed person as CHOOSING to be that way.

In the current economic climate, it is so difficult for anyone, young or old, to get a job, or even get as far as interview stage.

DC HAS a job though, and money coming. I know people who have had to give up their homes, because they simply cannot keep them off of Jobseekers' Allowance, can't buy enough food because of soaring food prices in stores, etc., etc.

It's OK though, because they are just "dossers" and probs not even worthy of a home. Just unemployed scum.

I know I heard a recent discussion with Jeremy Vine about JSA, and he had one listener on who was saying the income is so low, it is downright degrading. And, as well as pay for food, clothes, utility bills, the person is expected to have money for interviews, and the Job Centre are now only paying for people to travel to interviews beyond a certain number of miles.

The entire system is a bloody joke... and Cameron is a prick

Another thing: on R4's political show at the weekend, they were discussing unemployment. And one of the MPs was saying people just aren't spending. So if they are not spending as much buying things from Companies, Companies cannot employ. Also, 60% of households are apparently gonna be spending much less this Xmas, so, more problems for shops and economy in general.

Cameron said he was gonna do stuff about the unemployed, when he, himself, is causing the numbers to soar in this country.

Bring Back Labour!!

the fact that you've beern allowed to single handedly drive everyone away from this website is even more unbelievable. but some things i'll never understand.

well said sir. i sympathise fully with people who have to sign on who have worked and got struck off due to tory cuts or whatever.

it's all well and good living away from built up areas in scotland in the middle of nowhere slating the term dole dosser. but there are some who it does apply to like mentioned in the quote above. there is an entire area around a mile away from me where for the last 30 years or so they have lived on handouts from people like my dad paying tax, when they could easily get up and find a job. now they use the poor economy excuse and try and blend in with all the decent people who have no choice but to sign on becuase they lost their job. fucking cunts.

no. i just have lived on savings from when i used to do well, but because of that it's not been very well at all. the amount i have coming in is hardly going to help, the only reason i have to stay self employed is for tax reasons (at the start of next year). there's been days when i've chosen not to eat until something like a chicken sandwhich about 6pm, and without my parents' help i'd of been well and truly screwed. i'd of actually been better off signing on in comparison with the work i've had come through over the last year. but it's a matter of very last resort for me.

Last resort for a lot of people, dc. including many who have lost homes as well as jobs. and, btw, if you view the number of names at the bottom of the screen again, this place is once again booming. i am off to see my unemployed neighbour now. Three years approaching. I shall be sure to address him as scum.

yeah, booming with searchbots, and people who come for the downloads. nothing compared to 3 & 4 years back.

viv i don't know why i bother replying to your answers. if my mum died of cancer you'd find a way to slag me off about it. it's just the type of person you are. and take it from me, i'm not the only one who thinks that.

If you wish to wallow in self pity, well, it is your choice. the names at the bottom of the screen appear to be the good old peeps fm the past. o, and i got my neighbour some dinner today, because i am such a dire monster. like u, he cannot afford to eat. and i put ten pounds throo his letterbox to help. he never did know it was me, because he had no electricity. yes, how dare i exist. bye

Amongst othe things, I seem to have a mass of spots on my chin (i.e. three). Not a good look.

Oh, and I write awfully. I cringe at my horribly clichéd writing: His lips were warm and boyish. Our tongues intertwined in a moment of want and need. He tasted like heaven and bubblegum.

I ACTUALLY WROTE THAT???? AGGHHHHJJJ.

But it's OK, because Derren Brown told me I'm a miracle.

OMASM. Radio presenters are like fruit. Matt is my kumquat and Scott is blatantly my orange.
