michael owen has joined manchester united. i'm not going into a slag off against united or owen, but i really don't know what to think about it, i'm quite torn. on one hand it's good for owen to re-ignite himself after the shambles that was newcastle, it's good linking up with rooney for england as well. yet on the other i've grew up with watching owen for liverpool, he was one of my biggest idols as a kid and he's not quite the same to me now. although if he plays for england i can forget about it for then.

most newcastle fans are blaming owen for everything, but i don't think he wanted to get injured. allthough he could of tried harder towards the end. newcastle fans are to blame for the club going down to be fair, trying to run the club themselves instead of leaving it alone.

on the grid.

I feel quite weak today. I'm quite concerned about myself, I feel really light headed and confused and down. I don't know whether it's the paracetamol I've had or what. But I'm going to have to try go into work in a bit or I won't be able to go to Latitude as my parents won't allow one or the other and I won't have any cash. I can't even tell my parents without them shouting at me saying to cancel everything. I just hope it's temporary

We shall see how it pans out really. I completely forgot Owen used to play for liverpool.

i think fergie will ration him, so he wont be overworked. he did have his injurys with newcastle but he ended up the top scorer last season with hardly no service. united do need a finisher to kill off these smaller teams if they want to retain the title. but they need more than owen, maybe an attacking midfeilder and some wingers next, because liverpool are catching up.

Aww what a shame that you have both ended up unwell :(

Hope you both feel better really soon.

Aside from the sickness it sounds like the concert was fantastic.

Sending you both hugs.

Our house got broken into today. Thieving cunts made out with about £75 and sentimental gold jewellery that was passed down from my Nan to my Mom. Just feel so dirty and violated and unsafe. It's horrible. Could have been much much worse, but that's not really much consolation at this point.

there truly is some scum in the world, it would be great if you had a big dog waiting for them to rip them apart when they got in. problem is the law would side with them and you would probably get jailed for having a dangerous animal. the fact that they trespassed dosen't come into the fucked up justice system in this country.

That's horrible news Mitchell, there can't be much worse than feeling unsafe in your own home. I once spent a week of every night on the sofa with a baseball bat after confronting someone who appeared to be 'casing' my home several nights on the trot. Not a good (very uncharacteristic) head space to be in at all, and lasted until I could get my house secured with good door and window locks plus an alarm.

Hope everyone else there is coping as well...

Terrible news mate, there is some sick individuals in this world. I have never understood what drives someone to break into others property etc. You could probably guarantee that these people would probably hate it it was to happen to them!

I really hope they catch the bastards responsible, and that you recover all your goods as best as possible

take control

I'm so sorry to hear this... we were almost broken in to sometime back... I was in at the time, so they were out of luck, but it's a horrible feeling. You kind of go through stages of disbelief, to shock, to anger at the fact someone thinks they have a right to come in and just help themselves.

Thought I was getting a small spot on the corner of my mouth yesterday morning...by this morning it had grown a little on the surface and spread to include half my bottom lip under the skin. I now can't even spit out toothpaste properly and am worried that if it gets any bigger I will start struggling with eating. Its a proper fat lip at the moment. :(

I try to to write here often, but hearing my great uncle got hit by a car and died over the weekend has really shook me up. He really reminded me of my grandad who we watched get eaten up by Parkinson's when I was young, and this has bought back some really painful memories. :(

Oh no, Grace, I'm so sorry to hear that :(. It's always terrible to lose someone close, and the fact that he reminds you of your granddad definitely doesn't make it easier.

I completely understand why you might not feel in the mood for writing on here. I hope you'll get over it soon. If you need someone to talk to, you know there's always someone here to listen :)

    • Just Vick and Katie on Wednesday (and presumably Thursday as well).
    • Unless people can provide a source for this information then it should be treated as false.   Why would Jordan sign a contract with the BBC in the autumn when he agreed a deal with Global?  He could have left in August and not had to deal with the BBC.  Vick who doesn't really like Global why would she recommend him to go there and then warn him in her post to be careful?   It's been whispered from October that Roman was thinking of going.  Roman and Jordan have the same management team.  Why would they put Jordan in a place where he would have to battle with the BBC.  They could have agreed a deal with Global for Jordan in the summer.  They might have had to pay first couple months but they would do they to secure him.  If they had known about Roman wanting to leave they could have paid Roman off to get Jordan on air quicker.  Global would also not had legal around BBC contract to deal with and would not have had to pay the BBC to release Jordan.  None of what people say makes sense and if it did happen the way people say then BBC are not the stupid ones.  It really is not a good look to be talking with Global for 6 months, to then sign a contract with a the BBC, continue to talk to Global behind BBC's back after signing and then couple of months later want to leave and to throw a hissy fit as the BBC are not giving you what you want when you want it. That not a good light for Jordan or his management.
    • Wow, surprised he signed a new contract in September but it says a lot about Jordan that he continued to a very high standard throughout last summer/autumn if this was all going on in the background.
    • They knew Roman wanted to leave early last year but wasn't officially announced but he gave them time to sort replacement. Found and offered Jordan a deal in June or July and needed time to get Jordan out of Contract at bbc and roman to do notice  Jordan had dinner with Katie Vick and Arielle to ask advice and all said he should go.
    • And they told Radio 4’s Feedback that it was an ‘experiment’ to ‘look at the best way to serve young listeners’ but reaffirmed that 280 hours commitment.
    • I doubt he wanted to go to Global if a slot before he found out kemp was leaving.
    • We're hoping to get some answers in the coming weeks
    • From what he's saying on the Pod he's been trying to get out of r1 for a while. Looks like he needed to wait for a show on global to be available. Jordan had bbq last summer with most of thr global execs and he's referenced the deal was in place then. Obviously the hold up was r1 being stubborn
    • All seems to be back to normal this morning.
    • Indeed and Jordan was already friends with Sian Welby, Will Manning and Jimmy Hill.
    • It's great to see those friendships still thriving. I think the days of Radio 1 DJs and Capital DJs being unable to co-exist is long over. You used to either be firmly BBC or commercial, and you don't get the sense that's the case anymore.
    • Maia Beth will be presenting the Radio 1 Happy shows from the 27th April replacing Katie.  https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001ydkr
    • Vick and Jordan together on Insta (with Ariel’s) in Ibiza. You do imagine Jordan’s ex colleagues have a very different attitude to him than management. Comments on Help! And very subtle comments on Capital Breakfast suggest Jordan was frustrated with Radio 1 / BBC management.
    • I can name quite a few people on this forum who would be better presenters than Danny.
    • His NYE shows were very good. Only thing I would say is he was shackled down slightly there. During his peak he played some great trance stuff in the late 90s and early 00s. So if he were to do a regular show that would have to feature more. Aside from I'd love to see him back.
