Bit more detail piecing together the tweets and Instagram:

Charlie Hedges and Jeremiah Asiamah will become the new hosts of Radio 1’s Live Lounge.

GK Barry will join Radio 1 and host a season of shows across the year.

Charley Marlowe will join the station and co-host Group Chat with Vicky Hawkesworth.

Mylo and Rosie will join Radio 1 and host Early Breakfast.

Emil Franchi will join the station and host Weekend Breakfast.

Lauren Layfield will launch The Official Chart: First Look, broadcasting from Birmingham.

Shanequa Paris and Oré Olukoga will take over Life Hacks on Sundays at 19:00.

Sian Eleri’s The Chillest Show will move to Sundays at 21:00.

Alyx Holcombe’s Indie Show will move to Tuesdays at 23:00.

Radio 1’s new talent showcase will move to Weekend Early Breakfast.

Rickie Haywood-Williams and Melvin Odoom, Dean McCullough, Swarzy, Nat O’Leary and James Cusack will leave the Radio 1 schedule.

The refreshed schedule will begin in September 2026

Oof, some of that is unexpected. That's quite a cull - I was really warming to some of those losing their jobs. Disappointed the Chillest Show is being moved out, but interesting some of those Sunday changes from a few years back seem to be getting reverted. Equivalent of the Sunday Surgery is back on an evening, and the First Look is now longer than the Chart Show....

A lot of cost cutting, I think.

I don’t think there is actually? They’re losing a presenter on mid mornings but gaining an extra on Early Breakfast!

This is great news that Mylo & Rosie and Emil Franchi are getting permanent shows. Plus well deserved for Jerry, who has been really fantastic at covering in the afternoons over the last year or two.

I guess on paper it's not surprising about Rickie & Melvin and Dean, because I think their Radio 1 careers were only moving in one way. Although I am shocked that R&M weren't retained for a weekend slot really. James is a strange one because he only started permanently in January 2025, so lasted less than 2 years.

I think the changes to Live Lounge are a bit unnecessary, especially given that Going Home is in much more need of a shake up. Plus this move takes Jerry out of the equation on covering for them or Matt & Mollie.

I don’t think anyone apart from R&M replacements would be cheaper. A 4-7 first look chart sounds really lazy programming especially when the actual chart is less than 2 hours long.

R&M I’m not surprised by their departure  and would have said they were the biggest risk.

Dean I couldn’t see where he’d go after earlys so not too surprised. I’d expect Matt and Moll to be the only breakfast cover now and would want any potential next contenders to stop covering breakfast.

Swarzy I’m surprised by

James problem imo was he’s too commercial. Glad Emil’s got a permanent slot though.

Life Hacks always said should be on a later slot.

Charlie and Jeremiah should have been extended to Monday-Fri though thought the slot may have suited Vick in some sort?

Biggest shocking departure I’d say was Nat also a potential future live lounge presenter.

Big questions remain about going home but with Vick returning full time I believe l I think it will get better with Jamie not getting replaced if it’s just him off

Wow. I was not expecting to wake up to some of this. Some of this has really surprised me.

I know there's some presenters that have been waiting for slots, but i didn't think changes would come this soon. I'm assuming those replaced haven't suddenly decided to up and leave and that Aled has decided for them?

Most surprising for me is Dean. I know he gets a bad rep on here and socials but I had assumed he had settled into his early breakfast slot (he was promoted way too quickly). I personally do like Mylo and Rosie, but Dean does sound a bit more 'R1 friendly'.

It's a real shame James Cusack is being booted off Weekend breakfast so soon after finally getting a permanent slot. I did think it was unlikely he'd progress anywhere but after only a year and a half just feels like a waste of a really good presenter. That said, Emil's in a similar position to James was in the fact he's been covering shows for so long and deserves a permanent slot, shame it's not Going Home full time... he deserves it.

Don't think Melv will be too upset about leaving as he is almost certain to have a full time gig on 2 doing the good groove

Rickie probably could have stayed on LL with Jerry but ultimately his time is running out on 1 and probably the time to leave.

Dean was never going to get back on daytime so probably left to save his early mornings.

Nat is a shock as I felt she was getting better with Vicky and probably do LL down the line.

I don't think Jerry is a good fit for day times and felt he's better on specialist shows

GK Barry covering Matt and Mollie for 6 weeks in the summer.

Not sure how she's got a job.shes been terrible on all the previous ones and heavily criticised

Don't think this is true? Although I am confused about it, the press release says:

GK Barry will join the station to host a series of shows across the year, kicking off with an initial run on 10 September at 1pm for 6 weeks.

10th September is a Thursday. So is she just taking their Thursday slot for a 6 week run?

Maybe this opens up an opportunity for Rickie and Melvin at Radio 2 as part of their schedule changes.

They do have something lined up by sounds of it. Melvin put he’s got a few months of radio 2 cover at least - poor Trevor but does make sense

Positives:

- Jerry gets a daytime slot.

- Mylo & Rosie and Emil get permanent slots.

- The press release seems to suggest EB now starts at 4am, which means there’s an extra hour of live content for the station (would’ve thought that would be better in the evening, but still positive).

- Sunday schedule makes more sense having Chillest Show later.

Negatives:

- Does Lauren’s show need Chart branding?

- GK Barry on a Thursday is random, surely it’d be better to have her doing Going Home for 6 weeks over Matt and Mollie.

- Upset to see Nat and James go. Can imagine it wasn’t entirely their decision either. I also would’ve rather Lauren Redfern or Lauren Shannon got that slot.

I wonder if Dean’s been poached? His is the only quote which seems to suggest he’s decided to leave the station. Nat and James would fit in quite well on commercial radio as well.

Rickie and Melvin to Radio 2 then? Maybe they take overnights if OJ gets drive there.

Guessing Vick is back permanently on Going Home from September so no need for changes there as there’ll be less cover.

No mention of Martha’s show in the press release, but as the Indie Show is moving to that slot I wonder if she’s also going. I’m surprised there’s been no changes to the specialist shows as most of them haven’t changed presenters in years now.

Ricky & Melvin i suppose I'm not surprised. I was expecting wholesale change on mid mornings but they obviously rate Charlie massively. I'm unsure about a Jeremiah and Charlie pairing but i'll reserve judgement. The amount he's been on daytimes the past year or so, it was inevitable he'd get a show.

The Group Chat.. I only really listen to N&V on Sunday but only thing i have to say is I'm surprised it's Nat going...

I thought Life Hacks sat well where it was.. having a show fulfilling their 'PSB' requirements in daytime hours. So do we really have a 3 hour First Look chart on Sundays?

Dean imo reaks of Hits Radio

Would he not be off air immediately if that was the case? Judging by previous departures.

Radio 1 are probably decidedly less bothered about Dean going than they were about Jordan, plus it’d be coming up to the end of Dean’s contract.

I don’t think any of the departures are their own doing - surprised about James and Nat in particular though (Nat especially I thought was the stronger of the pair and had a good chance of getting to weekdays in the future).

It does mean that the average age of radio 1 presenters is even older now. We’re losing Rickie and Melvin, but Nat, Dean and Swarzy are some of the youngest!

Obviously the presenters are going to make their posts as positive as possible but it sounds like Nat has been poached as well as Dean.

Rickie's post also sounds like he has got something new to share soon.

Weird that they’re getting rid of Swarzy too just as her and Ore are being established as a duo covering shows? Maybe here’s was her own doing too. I’ve seen she’s doing things on R4 as well as her 1xtra show

    • Because even they don’t know the who’s going to be on Going Home 😂
    • He’s had more cover in August than he’s had over his entire duration at the station 😂
    • James Cusack posted that he is doing 22 shows on R1 in Augusts so that means he will do 10 Weekend Breakfast Shows, 8 Going Home Shows, Covering Sam & Danni 1 time, Covering Dean 1 time, so that leaves 2 more shows in August so I would guess he will doing Going Home on Monday 31st August & Covering Jack on the Chart on Friday 28th August as Jack will probably be at R&L Festival
    • Not sure I can see a schedule with Trevor on afternoons and Spoony on drive, and even if so then it'd be easy enough to give Spoony drive now and have someone else cover Trevor. I very much doubt that about Greg, can's see him wanting to leave R1 anytime soon, nor would R1 bosses want him to leave. At minimum he'll want to break Moyles' record but even then can see him on the station a good while longer.
    • I think it’s more likely Spoony was meant for drive? Or and here’s my out there possibility. They want Greg James but he’s not ready to switch yet so a bit more work for Oo Gary davies and goodier
    • Does anyone actually know why they've stopped updating the schedules?
    • I'm afraid the Sky EPG has become the victim of the BBC's policy of not to update most of the schedules for this week, especially on the Breakfast and Going Home listings! 😆
    • But if it was OJ then surely the announcement would have come by now? Even if there was a delay due to working a plan to relocate production to Salford, that wouldn't take this long. My own guess, based on nothing more than a hunch, is that Trevor was the plan and that's been put on hold for obvious reasons. OJ could then maybe get afternoons...
    • Melvin’s got a radio 2 gig for the forseeable plus am sure I heard he said he was doing something with Ricky too. Ricky did some talksport cover  Nat agree is the big surprise! I’m not sure what she’s doing next as thought she’d have a good shelf life on Radio 1 and thought her and Vicky or Sian Eleri would be the next live lounge hosts.    Dean’s moving to London so that might be a clue but his choice and has something lined up. He did get promoted far too early but almost anyone replacing Scott would have been a downgrade hence was better for Matt and Moll to replace Dean when they knew they could improve a show.    James - nice guy but bit bland and I think his tight link commercial radio style has hindered him in terms of radio 1 and they probably needed Emil in permanently to build him up for daytime cover or future slots in 2/3 years.  Week starting 31st August is their last week and imagine new schedules start the following Monday
    • I think OJ - unless they’ve someone else in mind. OJ, I’d maybe move over to R2 Drive over R1 for.
    • Super late to this and had a reply written but didn’t post as got tied up with World Cup and wasn’t feeling too well. I’m surprised and not surprised by some of these changes  Ricky and Melvin felt like they were coming to an end but I feel sad RMC is coming to end. I do wonder what they’ll do next  Nat O Leary was a surprise - I thought she would have been one they’d have held on to. But am I right in thinking she had a job in fashion when she first started at Radio 1? James Cusack - also a surprise - it took so long for him to get a slot.  Dean - feel a bit sorry for him. Feel like he was promoted far too early and didnt get to bed himself in. The afternoon slot was a disaster and I was listening to Scott by then anyway. He’s really came across well on Early Breakfast but I guess there’s no opportunity for him on daytime. The I’m a Celeb appearance didn’t go well either but at least they finally changed the trial voting rules. Do hope he does well wherever he goes next  Swarzy - I can’t comment on   When are all the last shows - the last week of August? I’ll try and tune in if I can.     Really happy for Emil who I think should have had a slot a long time ago. Big potential for drive or breakfast in the future. Mylo and Rosie - I’m happy for too. I’m happy that they’ve managed to find a new permanent slot after being taken off Hits after so long. I’m not sure they are long term R1 but a massive coup for them all the same
    • Ha no, I did in the context that it appears Mollie is back! Mollie is down to do Future Pop on the 2nd September as well.
    • Matt and Mollie are back on the show titles from 1st September.
    • They have probably been told off for updating it and exposing the merry go round! 😆
