Established 1967 Cover Versions

Recommended Posts

The Cover Versions which have been specially recorded for Radio 1's 40th birthday will begin to be aired on Monday, with Moyles playing the 2006 track, then Jo Whiley playing the 2005 track, etc. You can view the full list of tracks here.

So which tracks are you particularly looking forward to hearing?

I've already heard Calvin Harris' version of Stillness In Time by Jamiroquai, that's pretty good - I'd be interested to hear Hard-Fi's version of Britney's Toxic, haha. And The Streets doing Your Song by Elton John.

I am looking forward to:

1970 - 'Lola' by The Kinks - Covered by Robbie Williams

1986 - ‘Don't Get Me Wrong’ by The Pretenders - Covered by Lily Allen

2001 - ‘Teenage Dirtbag’ by Wheatus - Covered by Girls Aloud

2004 - ‘Toxic’ by Britney Spears - Covered by Hard-Fi

Is there going to be an album I take it?

On a separate note, I looooved 30 Seconds to Mars in the Live Lounge singing Kanye's Stronger even tho normally I HATE that song!

I heard the Corinne Bailey Rae song this morning, it wasn't a bad effort but I do feel as if she could have made the song more her own instead of just replicating its original sound, like she did when she covered Munich by Editors in the Live Lounge a while ago.

I quite like that cover actually, the pink logo works surprisingly well.

The Maximo Park version of Like I Love You is ACE btw, better than the original in many respects. :D

Moyles replayed the Hard-Fi cover of Britney. A bit of a laugh, think it suits better as a pop record though. Maximo Park's cover of Justin sent some shivers down my spine at how good it is!

I've just ordered the "Established 1967" album. Can't wait, especially for The Feeling's rendition of "You're So Vain." Camp chooon sang by an even camper guy, eh Grace? :P

Didn't like the Natasha Bedingfield version of Madonna's Ray Of Light much, her voice is just far too weak to be able to pull off a song like that.

the album is now on play for £11.99 no track listing yet

I think it's quite obvious what the tracklisting is, it's featured all over this website and the Radio 1 website, and the songs are being played on-air

The Natasha Bedingfield "Ray Of Light" was terrible, the worst I've heard. She seemed to be in pain/struggling to sing it. Klaxons one was great, though. I have my album ordered for £9.99.
