It's been an excellent mechanism for promoting Matt and Mollie. And Mollie's really put a shift in. I love the physical challenges as they resonate with the audience but I do hope they can find something like the lolathon for creativity next year.

Had the lurgy this week so have been following it all on the radio. Hopefully I'll be well enough for Friday to see her finish in Hull.

It's been a great week of radio. Radio 1 at its best - promoting a great cause and all the DJs on air together and shows how much they all get along. This week has highlighted too just how great the likes of Greg, Matt and Katie are as broadcasters - they have been superb covering the challenge and in their genuine love and support for Mollie (who has been doing so well and is giving it her all).

Lovely too to see Matt & Mollie get their flowers so much in the past month - both thoroughly deserve it and their kindness and good spirit has really shone through these last few days even more than usual. Matt's link yesterday about how Mollie has been a support to him and him to her at around 4.45pm yesterday was just so wonderful and heartfelt and what Radio is all about.

I always think there not doing the whole thing. Eg. They start and do maybe 5 miles, stop and a someone else takes over in disguise and basically do shifts. The photos and videos are when Mollie is on board.

Some of the timings don't add up like usually finishing at time supposed to finish at

I didn't say she wasn't doing it. I saw Mollie cycle in Burton. 

I can see why people would be suspicious of it cos she's knackered and it's hard for professionals to get the times and distances and she has only had 4 weeks training.

My point wasn't that the challenge was fake - though obviously some of the timings are managed to fit a finish during Going Home even though it went wrong yesterday.

What I meant was some of the drama is clearly theatre.  I mean Matt and others have been genuine and touching about personal stories and I am not suggesting fake but there is certainly added theatre along the way to create better radio and fuel donations.

Oh yeah you've got to make good radio from it, I appreciate that point.

Not yet - she was on the One Show in the last hour when there were still 10 miles to go.

Still going I think - they had her on the One Show and mentioned she still had an hour to the finish line.

So she'll probably be finishing today during her usual Future Pop show.

Do wonder how tomorrow will work with the Chart as it would be quite the effort by Mollie to finish before it. Normally they'd aim to have these challenges done before the Chart

      I'd very much like it to be him too. Would be the most logical option, As far as guest/celebrity stand ins go, I like mind Ellie Taylor... she's definitely one of the better stand ins. I can't see them getting her to cover the slot in the interim period if she is to become the full time presenter in September though. She's doing the following 3 weeks of Saturday lunchtimes. I wonder if she's Emma's replacement during Strictly season?

      I'm liking what I've heard so far. She was brilliant on tea time and whenever she covered Scott too. Glad she's brought some her jingles/songs with her, but shortened/updated them for brekky.  PS was she as silly and bonkers when she was on R1 as she is on R2? I don't really remember much of her old shows on R1, although I do remember listening to her covering for Fearne.

      I have no clue why you thought a complaint and FOI request would go anywhere?! And I maintain what I've written elsewhere, that the 'Jamie problem' is one that exists mainly on forums and isn't felt by the wider listener group!

      A couple of months on and still no announcement on who is taking over teatime. We know they're rotating 'interim' hosts throughout the summer, so presumably any permanent host will be taking over at the start of September at the earliest. I'm starting to wonder if it's not OJ Borg after all. There could've been delay in the logistics of him agreeing to a London based show, or production moving up to Salford, but surely they would have announced him by now? That said, I'm surprised he's been nowhere near teatime since Sara finished. Radio 2 rarely go for outsiders when it comes to their main weekday slots, they usually promote from within so will be interesting to see who they go with? I'd be surprised if they parachute in someone that hasn't broadcast on Radio 2 before.

You asked: I am asking with regards to Jamie Laings contract to present the Going Home Show on BBC Radio 1. Going Home is titled as Going Home with Vick Hope. Katie Thistleton and Jamie Laing and is meant to be on Monday-Thursday 3.30pm-5.45pm on BBC Radio 1 1. Please can you confirm does Jamie have a contract to be a presenter Monday- Thursday or is he paid a fee per show. 2. Has he had his contract adjusted in the number of shows he is expected to present and/or value of his contract in the last year? 3. Do the presenters who fill in for Jamie/Vick Hope get paid the same rate as them or is that rate different? We have carefully considered your request and concluded that it is clear from your description of the information you are seeking that if the BBC held information of the kind you have asked for, it would all be held for the purposes of journalism, art or literature.       Regardless of their routine, it's incredible how they all ended up parents in a short space of time of becoming a trio. Quite the baby boom at Radio 1!
