with a name like mclaren i think he must of been sent to us by the scots to destroy us. then i dont think the sfa are stupid enough to make our mistake. billy davies would be good with the right players i think.

I'm not overly convinced that Davies is the man for the job, he hasnt really achieved anything worth noting at any of the teams he has managed. I'd rather have somebody with a bit more experience in management that we know is capable of motivating the team and getting 100% out of the team. Perhaps even somebody like Jim Jefferies who is Killie boss, he has little cash available for his squad yet he can still get them to perform well.

Arsenal suffered a bit of a shock defeat, could possibly have thrown away their lead in the title with Chelsea comin next week. If United beat Liverpool and Arsenal lose to Chelsea.

On another note, news tat Mourinho has siad that he won't be the next England manager.

Where would we be if we did'ht have rules....?

France, Thats Right.

stupid f*cking english c*nts dont deserve to live let alone a manager!!1 etc...

fabio capello i think may be our best bet. he has european experience and has sucsess at a high level. plus he stopped the overseas gloryhunters from taking la liga again last season so he gets my vote. i just hope the media dont put him off like they did everyone else.

on the grid.

I think John Terry is probably the best captain for England, your only other options are Steven Gerrard, who would make a good England captain. Rio, who occasionally stands in at united, but i dont think he is vocal enougth.

I think Rooney would make a good captian for the future, the position he plays could go against him though.

rooney has been good for england for the last two games he has played, but before that he hasn't really done hardly anything since euro 2004. by the time he becomes captain (if he does) most of todays team will have gone.

i think agbonlahor, milner and walcott deserve a run in the next freindly. we have a good set of under 21's to look to.

on the grid.

If it was up to me I'd appoint Rio as captain. Best role model in the current England team.

Yeah he would be a great role model. He can teach all of the youngsters how to 'forget' to take a drugs test.

Lets go to the pub lads, sod this drugs test business...

Does the job on the pitch though. Does it without any of the antics of Gerrard and Terry as well. No diving, no harassing the referee...

what the hell happened to rangers?

Relatively crap first half, little entertainment value, goalkeeper should have had a shout to let the ball run through but didnt = 1-0.

Second half was a much better start, more attacking football with Cousin taken off for Naismith (not before time as Cousin was totally uninterested). Attacking football from Rangers up until around the 75minute mark when we had to bring on a striker in the hope of getting a goal, straight from the substitution Lyon went up the field and scored :(. After that I turned the telly off as I knew it was game over. Darcheville who came on as sub was sent off for violent conduct which was after the third goal which I missed.

Overall a disappointing night, according to the posession stats we outplayed Lyon for the whole game although they had twice as many shots on target as us.

Rio is certainly a better role model than John Terry:

In 2001 Terry, along with then teammates FRANK LAMPARD, EIDUR GUDJOHNSEN and JODY MORRIS, were fined by Chelsea for going on a five-hour drinking binge which resulted in them stripping off, swearing and vomiting, in a hotel packed with American tourists the day after the 9/11 attacks.

Didn't Terry allegedly cheat on his wife too? Allegedly. You can getting into fights at nightclubs to the list too.

Also, at least Rio doesn't chase the ref around the pitch and shout in his face from 2mm away.

The Rangers game last night :x I hope Celtic get drawn against Inter Milan.

Well he can't be much worse than mclaren so here's hoping that he improves the team and that they actually play together like scotland or northern ireland instead of individuals.

On a different note the liverpool resulys was a pleasant surprise and could the jealous everton fans who keep robbing our players please stop it.

There even having a poll on football 365 http://forum.football365.com/index.php?t=msg&th=468343&start=0&

well it's got so bad now that we will settle for results instead of flair. nothing can be worse than that scottish trained boro' pleb that was maclaren.

they should leave cappello to do his job, i am expecting people to earn their place in the team. no matter if it is gerrard/rooney/owen or beckham etc...

on the grid.

    • There was a time when everyone knew Zane Lowe or Annie Mac or Judge Jules or Dave Pearce or Annie Nightingale. Does the Radio 1 generation know the current bunch?
    • Looks like it's off to Preston!
    • Would be nice to give more presence to the specialist shows over bank holidays. Surely the best way to promote new music credentials over anthems? As much as I accept it's very popular.
    • Peak radio 1 ! I agree with Bluestraw there was huge presence by specialist presenters then , certainly something I think radio1 could do more of now. Remember the takeover where specialist DJs would swap into main shows for a week? Or do we recall In New DJs We Trust, the competition on Chris moyles show where the winner would get a DJ set at radio 1s Ibiza weekend, and that is how Danny Howard’s radio career starters
    • Yeah. He started on R1 in the late 90's when they used do the 'Sessions in the Nations' where they used to split for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. He then moved to daytimes, firstly on weekends in 2003 then they replaced Mark & Lard on the mid afternoon slot in 2004.  Then he moved to late evenings as a specialist DJ.
    • Thanks for sharing that - I don't think I've seen it before. Didn't realise that Colin Murray off of Countdown and R5L used to be on R1! Several other current R2/R5L/R6M names there too.
    • 29th April has updated to show Dan back as presenter but still Nels in for Alyx on Introducing Rock.
    • Where do we think Radio 2 in the Park will be this year? Personally I'm thinking Swindon after Scott's clue of it having many roundabouts and since Big Weekend is at Luton I can't imagine they'd go to Milton Keynes.
    • Yeah, I feel like they need a big push on Jack to cement him in his new position. But it shouldn't just be Jack, you've got Sian and Alyx for instance, who are relatively new faces.
    • Now in it's third week, the new Capital Breakfast Show seems to be settling down well and there are more of the informal, random Jordan topics appearing.  Though it is clear he wants to be seen slightly differently. It really is a very decent listen.
    • Just watched that advert and it made me realise quite how many 'big' specialist presenters there were back then
    • I've been reminded of this Radio 1 cinema advert. I remember being so excited to see it. The In New Music We Trust era. Everything felt so cool, even if they had Westwood.
    • Just Vick and Katie on Wednesday (and presumably Thursday as well).
    • Unless people can provide a source for this information then it should be treated as false.   Why would Jordan sign a contract with the BBC in the autumn when he agreed a deal with Global?  He could have left in August and not had to deal with the BBC.  Vick who doesn't really like Global why would she recommend him to go there and then warn him in her post to be careful?   It's been whispered from October that Roman was thinking of going.  Roman and Jordan have the same management team.  Why would they put Jordan in a place where he would have to battle with the BBC.  They could have agreed a deal with Global for Jordan in the summer.  They might have had to pay first couple months but they would do they to secure him.  If they had known about Roman wanting to leave they could have paid Roman off to get Jordan on air quicker.  Global would also not had legal around BBC contract to deal with and would not have had to pay the BBC to release Jordan.  None of what people say makes sense and if it did happen the way people say then BBC are not the stupid ones.  It really is not a good look to be talking with Global for 6 months, to then sign a contract with a the BBC, continue to talk to Global behind BBC's back after signing and then couple of months later want to leave and to throw a hissy fit as the BBC are not giving you what you want when you want it. That not a good light for Jordan or his management.
    • Wow, surprised he signed a new contract in September but it says a lot about Jordan that he continued to a very high standard throughout last summer/autumn if this was all going on in the background.
