Yeah Prescott and Reid are very staunch 'Blairites' I believe, so it was inevitable. They would never have been able to work with Gordon Brown as Prime Minister.

The Liberal Democrats are tabling a parliamentary motion for the Queen to dissolve parliament and call a general election after she receives Blair's resignation on June 27th, haha.

I think he did a great job. Ok he's the only PM I can remember, I was 8 when Tony was first elected. But look around yourselves right now, are you really suffering?

Tony hasn't brought huge wealth and power to the country, but he has tried to make every single person in this country live a happy, comfortable life. I don't know anybody living in complete poverty. I can't judge him for that.

lol, bring it on, I'm used to have people judge my opinion on Tony Blair.

Although, some if is because it's cool to hate Tony Blair. If your life is worse off under Blair than Major, then I apologise and respect your opinion, but most people moan about him for the hell of it.

I don't think theres anyone who actually hates tony blair i know I don't, compared to some of the previous PM's and how they destroyed communities then he is practically a saint. But I think history will mostly remember him & george bush for the disaster that is the iraq war and the web of lies that preceeded it.

I don't hate him as an individual for what he has done, but I am entitled to be critical of his efforts as PM.

I have noted some of the good things Blair has done and neglected to mention a few other things, but on the whole Iraq outweighs all of the positive things that Blair has done (in my opinion) and its shadow will loom over him for a very long time.

I don't subscribe to this theory that it's cool to loathe Blair as I was critical of him before Iraq on issues such as fox hunting (which he dithered over and promised would be banned in 1997), construction of the Millennium Dome etc.

I don't know enough about Gordon Brown. If he's an Old Labour type then he might win me over, but if he's more extreme New Labour than Blair then I won't be very content.

Hasn't Blair privatized more industries under his premiership than the Tories did in 18 years of government? That's one more thing I can't forgive him for really.

Yes, because Blair was the one who privitised the Telecom industry, coal, steel, water, gas, rail, electricity, British Airways, IBA, BP, British Aerospace and British Shipbuilders. Wait? Oh Yes, that was Thatcher and Major. What did Blair privitise? Some of the failing parts of the NHS that incendentley has seen waiting times reduced from 18 months to 18 days.

 but hasn't he wasted BILLIONS of ca$h on the NHS!

There's no denying the Tories privatized many industrial sectors, but privatization under New Labour has continued and been more rapid.

The problem is Clause IV of the Old Labour constitution, owing to its socialist roots, protected industries from falling into private hands but when Tony Blair assumed leadership of the Labour Party Clause IV was abolished and his capitalist ideology implemented. What should have been reversed has instead been allowed to continue and that's why most are disgruntled with Tony Blair.

I think Tony Blair has done a good job as PM, lets face it, whoever is in power is never going to be able to please everybody. The country is running better now than 10 years ago, the economy is thriving and i cant thin of anything that Tony Blair has done to te country that affect the vast majority of people for the worse.

The only thing i do take issue with is the war in Iraq, should never have got involved....

Anyway thats my two peneth.

Where would we be if we did'ht have rules....?

France, Thats Right.

Don't be manipulated by sentimental media coverage into making everything in Blair's reign rose-tinted. Blair did not follow through with the fundamental aim of his party and he didn't do his job properly.

I don't think he's an unpleasant man, doesn't deserve to be villified, but he is NOT a hero. The only reason he'l be missed is 'cos the British are used to him and don't embrace change.

THe same will be said for anyone who ever runs this country, people only highlight the bad, and no primeminister will ever deliver all of thier promises. Under labour government this country has changed for the better, therefore he has done a good job.

I haven't heard any media coverage where they haven't decided he's rubbish overall.

There/ They're/ Their. Different words.

bring back the itv news channel they were my cup of tea. sky scum news had a panel on tonight of people who you know would only slag off blair and not look at the good points.

i will miss him, it's about time the media were sentimental and think 'yes lets actually find out the good points' for once, they have spent the rest of the time slagging everything he does off. and of course the money loaded tv channels think that the pot smoker on the dark side cant do no wrong.

on the grid.

I'll be sorry to see him go. He's the first Prime Minister that I ever knew of, so he's kinda special in that way. I don't think he's done a bad job. Yes, he's made mistakes, but everyone does that at some point in their lives. His are just on a larger scale. I don't know much about politics, but I do know that his government have been a massive support to people that can't work due to disability. My Mum's deaf in one ear, due to cancerous growths, and it affects her more than you think. Her balance is shot, especially in bad weather, and she doesn't hear everything, which is why she sometimes runs in the wrong direction when one of the kids is crying. Just last week, my youngest sister fell and hurt her knee and Mum swore that she heard her at the left side of the house, when she was in fact on the back garden. Things like this affect her ability to work, so she hasn't had a job for the past few years. Tony Blair's government have done very well in making sure we're all well cared for, especially since my step-dad's back became so bad that he couldn't work either. I salute him for that and will be very sad to see him go.

Gordon Brown wants to introduce a written constitution for the United Kingdom.

Ever since the UK came into existence in 1707* following the union of England and Scotland, we've had a series of laws and treaties that make-up the constitution of this country, but don't codify it into a single document, so I'd be all for this, as I think it would help give the British people a sense of national identity.

*England, Scotland and Wales as Great Britain. The United Kingdom not in official use until Ireland's unwilling annexation in 1801.

Not having a constitution is the beauty of this countrys political system. The UK constitution is a organic process, built up of lots of different documents rather than just one.

The UK Constitution can remain modern and change to public opinion, and it is what distinguishes our system from any other. If you introduce a constitution it will be a waste of time and money- apart from the fact it can cause gridlock on certain issues, such as Gun Control.
