<b>Welcome along to the daily radio show reviews. Daily probably isn't the word to use, may be regular as it takes a lot to find the staff to help me out.</b>

It's been a long two weeks since we last heard Scott, Chappers and Laura in the usual radio slot. Last time they were on together live was the Radio 1 Christmas Party, so it was certainly going to be a good show today.

<b>The Great Scott Mills Retox of 2006</b>

Once agai all the DJs who actually bothered to turn up for work are on about detoxing after a heavy christmas on the booze. Scott's decided not to waste time trying to stay on the wagon when he knows he'll be off it by the end of the week. So Scott's decided to retox. Chappers on the other hand doesn't need much to drink to feel bad, he claims he has tonsillitis and is on tablets. Scott promised to bring in some jelly and ice cream tomorrow. As for the retox, the team had their black labelled beer and listeners were tucking into cheeses, sausage rolls, crisps and chocolates. That's the spirit!

<b>Christmas Grates</b>

One thing Scott had to talk about today was the Land of Leather television adverts that have been on this holiday. Don't they just pee you off? Land of Leather by the way is a sofa store, nothing dodgy. Chappers on the other hand doesn't mind the advert with 'I Am The One And Only' being played every five minutes as he's looking for a new sofa at the moment. I guess all those mornings recently with Dave have paid off.

<b>Statistically Chappers and Dave are the strongest link...</b>

Which is possibly the last time you'll ever hear that on national television or national radio. Last week they made an appearance on The Weakest Link with other celebrity couples including the Chuckle Brothers and Andy Scott-Lee and his bird. Describing their job to my mother was a difficult one. It was a show full of X-Factor and Pop Idol rejects plus a few more couples to make the numbers up. Scott wasn't too happy about the quip Chopper made about Scott not being funny. I guess the truth hurts! Meanwhile Scott was on Celebrity Mastermind. He wasn't best pleased with performance, particularly as he got a wine question wrong. He also appeared on Big Brother's Most Shocking Moments. Shockingly someone rang in and actually claimed they'd seen that show. He explained, to those who saw it, that all the wine bottles in the background was because it was filmed in his local pub.

<I>Next year the team plan to buy Scott an oil lamp. He'll think he's ahead of the times with this...</i></center>

<b>Last Christmas I gave you my heart...</b>

So what delightful presents did the team get this Christmas? Scott said he got some sort of toastie sandwich maker (so amazing he couldn't describe it), some amazing touch lamps which made him feel rich (get with the times Scott!) and a Take That wall planner. Amongst a few crap presents. He's thinking about selling them on or throwing them out. Chappers was amazed that Laura and Scott loved the Christmas specials of the Vicar of Dibley. I thought they were great. Obviously Chappers spent most of his time watching Match of the Day and snogging any bird he could find. Hence the tonsillitis. Laura got some interesting presents, but wasn't prepared to say what. Especially the ones off James and her dad. I guess that wasn't a joint effort? There was much relief from me when people texted in to tell Scott the touch lamps go a bit wrong after a few years, and start automatically coming on by themselves. I wasn't aware of this, but had my suspicions as they kept coming on at night whilst I was asleep. Now I know I'm not as talented as what I once thought I was. Some listeners also informed Scott they're very popular with the much older generations...

<i>Chappers: "Do you also have a red button in your house incase you fall over?"</i>

This week's Record of the Week is Grace Kelly by Mika. If this guy isn't big in 2007 it'll be a crime against music.

<I>Desperate Housewives... Wit this series starring Sian Lloyd</i></center>

<b>It's a hot week for television...</b>

Apparently. Scott's getting excited about the new series of Desperate Housewives. Chappers isn't. But he is looking forward to the much advertised 'Ugly Betty' programme coming on soon. Plus it's a big day for Chappers tomorrow. Find out why when they talk a bit more about Big Brother soon.

<b>Small Fortune</b>

And another gameshow you've not have heard or seen anywhere before. It's called Small Fortune, and involved Scott and Chappers possibly giving away £100 in cash. Listeners had to send in and call up with their suggestions to convince them to part with the cash. No one managed to do that, so it's a rollover to another day.

<b>You've Been Busted</b>

Scott was told that the car he'd borrowed for Christmas would be picked up at 3.30pm today. But that didn't happen. He left it on a meter, and was just informed during Your Call that his car had been clamped and taken away. Chopper thinks he should pass the blame on to the company rather than paying for it to be unclamped. Back to the sh*t mobile it seems.

There's more from Scott and Chappers tomorrow afternoon. Check out the forum for more Scott Mills banter! I must go, I hear my dad has the Cheeky Girls on in the background and I'm getting concerned...<br>

    • Less so with 5 Live. But with Nihal, Nicky Campbell and Mark Chapman get what you are saying.6 Music does have that with Huw Stephens, Mary Anne Hobbs, Gilles Peterson, Marc Riley and Mark Radcliffe
    • Agreed, Martha seems to quietly taken over as host of the Tuesday Bass and Big Beats show that Annie Nightingale did would be good to have some promotion to be done for her show. Agreed with this on bank holidays on a Radio 1 dance day inpaticular would be quite good to have Sarah Storey, Jaguar, Jeremiah Asiamah, Charlie Tee and Martha presenting. I always felt that in Christmas and New Year previously having Victoria Jane to do a Future Soul take over playlist.
    • To be fair to him, this week and next week he’s on his podcast tour which was arranged well before he started on R1. After that I would guess he’ll start being on everyday?
    • It’s Jamie’s dream of a lifetime to be a full time Radio 1 presenter apparently, but he can only do it 2 or 3 days a week.
    • Radio 1 generation meaning??  Today's 10-30 yr-olds? I doubt it. They'll still know Pete Tong though, because he is rhyming slang!
    • There was a time when everyone knew Zane Lowe or Annie Mac or Judge Jules or Dave Pearce or Annie Nightingale. Does the Radio 1 generation know the current bunch?
    • Looks like it's off to Preston!
    • Would be nice to give more presence to the specialist shows over bank holidays. Surely the best way to promote new music credentials over anthems? As much as I accept it's very popular.
    • Peak radio 1 ! I agree with Bluestraw there was huge presence by specialist presenters then , certainly something I think radio1 could do more of now. Remember the takeover where specialist DJs would swap into main shows for a week? Or do we recall In New DJs We Trust, the competition on Chris moyles show where the winner would get a DJ set at radio 1s Ibiza weekend, and that is how Danny Howard’s radio career starters
    • Yeah. He started on R1 in the late 90's when they used do the 'Sessions in the Nations' where they used to split for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. He then moved to daytimes, firstly on weekends in 2003 then they replaced Mark & Lard on the mid afternoon slot in 2004.  Then he moved to late evenings as a specialist DJ.
    • Thanks for sharing that - I don't think I've seen it before. Didn't realise that Colin Murray off of Countdown and R5L used to be on R1! Several other current R2/R5L/R6M names there too.
    • 29th April has updated to show Dan back as presenter but still Nels in for Alyx on Introducing Rock. 6th May schedule has updated to show that the Radio 1 Big Weekend Shows will now be the following: 6am-10am 10am-2pm 2pm-6pm 6pm-8pm Still no presenters listed.
    • Where do we think Radio 2 in the Park will be this year? Personally I'm thinking Swindon after Scott's clue of it having many roundabouts and since Big Weekend is at Luton I can't imagine they'd go to Milton Keynes.
    • Yeah, I feel like they need a big push on Jack to cement him in his new position. But it shouldn't just be Jack, you've got Sian and Alyx for instance, who are relatively new faces.
    • Now in it's third week, the new Capital Breakfast Show seems to be settling down well and there are more of the informal, random Jordan topics appearing.  Though it is clear he wants to be seen slightly differently. It really is a very decent listen.
