Like I said in an earlier post Scott should take part lol as he’s never done it before only pressed the buttons

Something's sticking in the back of my mind that he did do innuendo bingo himself once? (possibly with his Strictly partner). I do agree, I hope they get a few more bingo's in... with a big name guest or Scott V Chris as a finale.

My current practice is to listen to Scott M on R1 2pm-3pm, then Steve W on R2 3pm-4pm, so I'll just give that a slight tweak when the time comes, for whoever is gonna be on R1 at 2pm ...

Fingers crossed the same quota of entertaining (albeit, different) features will be used, throughout ...

The one thing I certainly won't miss about Mr Wright is his continual breaking of one of Radio's most sacred principles - that you don't pass off pre-recorded stuff as live. Heck, even the studio 'applause' which greets the pre-recorded guest was itself pre-recorded, years ago!

The trained ear can of course spot when this happens, but, for casual listeners, he is gulling them into thinking that he is a much smoother, wittier operator than he actually is (all the glitches having been ironed out already).  All he ever had to say was something like 'I spoke to [celebrity] earlier, and here's what they said' - Not (straight out of record): 'It's [celebrity], everyone!' - There is just something fundamentally dishonest about that ...

My final predictions or punts on it will be:

Matt & Mollie in the afternoon’s (til mid-2025)

James Cusack *WildCard* for the chart

as think the chart high profile slot but with very pre-formatted links and text tweets and rigid format. Kind of great show for newer presenter.

Maia Beth becomes the new  Future Pop (Presenter when it launches)

Katie Thistleton on weekend afternoons. Maybe do more Lifehack blend of conversation in her show

Life Hacks with Sam & Danni

See Rakeem Omah, Kerri Cosh, Vicky Hawksworth, Matty Chabi, Connor Coates continue to cover. And take shows in next shuffle.

Chippy out of interest why did you stop listening. Around the same time Moyles left?

It's a good question.

Sometimes you can just have too much of a good thing and need a change. Plus it's around the time I went to uni...

I might have stopped around the time Beccy left so I think it might have felt like a good time to move on. End of an era sort-of feelings.

I stopped listening to Scott back around 2012 after being an avid podcast listener for years and years.

This could be a good opportunity to rediscover him again and make the transition to become a grown-up who listens to Radio 2...

Im similar, although I never fully stopped listening. Just not as avid as I was around 2006. If I was in the car for a long trip or near a radio he would be on. It was really the post 2010 Radio 1 playlist that pushed me away more than anything else. And I was 22 years old around that point too. Scott's content has always been great, although Chappers and Laura in my era helped make it what it was.

on the grid.

Just thought I'd pop in to say a farewell to Scott on Radio 1. I've caught a few moments of this final week. How wonderful was it to hear Chappers yesterday? It really brought back memories of the days when Timsk and I lived on UM. So I want to thank Scott and UM and all its regulars for bringing us together - still together after 15 years! Thank you Scott for being your lovely self. I notice not much is being said on air about the mass exodus of all his fans who plan to follow him to Radio 2, but I'm definitely one of these. I'm really looking forward to his new show - and finally accepting my age demographic! All the very best.

    • Jordan North… Seriously though, out of the commercial stations I only really listen to Capital but I do think Will Manning is very strong (and could quite easily slot into R1). I also think Jimmy Hill is a very good commercial DJ (but probably wouldn’t be as good on R1).
    • First link made me blush
    • Who do you think is the best commercial presenter? This is your view, doesn't have to be who has the most ratings
    • Starting off strong.
    • I remember Chase and Status being added to the line-up for Coventry after a drop out. At the time it seemed a bit random, but they seem massive again now!
    • That is a bit strange, yes. Fair point. Oh yes, I'd say both are equal. It's just they'll have been on Instagram for some time, whereas TikTok will have been a new addition in recent years, so something probably has to give. Us anoraks like to see Twitter as important, but I find myself putting much more time into those other platforms. Incidentally when I applied for a social job there probably four years back (wasn't successful!) I did say I thought the audience wanted more insight from the station rather than just content around the stars. I think they've moved a lot more in that direction, especially with the visualisation in the studio. You see more of Greg James than Harry Styles. I don't envy the PR machine at Radio 1 going straight from Mollie King's challenge to Big Weekend announcements without a break!
    • Since they starting the big weekend right at the end of Matt & Mollie’s show I expect they get to do the duties of opening up the festival.
    • Matt and Mollie and Sam and Danni have DJ sets on Friday of Big Weekend, still makes me think they are really keen to push both pairings in a hole left by Jordan.
    • Broadcast wise it’s going to be interesting to see how they handle the performances starting at the same time as the chart show.
    • Yes sort of, although it’s still weird that they tweeted when Mollie was halfway completed but did not do so when she crossed the finish line.
    • it would make sense to ensure both instagram and TikTok are treated as equals and kept in tandem as reels and downloads of instagram are growing when TikTok I think I’ve heard is stagnating.    I mean it makes sense to do less with Twitter or X as it has change. There has been a lot of change in how its run and operate with focus on making it a platform people pay for and its been volatile for advertising with lots of loss in paid promotions on the platform and the business worth has been waining and any communications and marketing for any business and organisations are seeing that
    • I feel like all ATB songs started with some sort of airport in their video
    • Brings back some memories. Your Call for the second hour between 5 and 5.45! The disappointment when someone would call in asking for James Blunt which was already on the playlist.
    • Previously during Red Nose Day events or summer games they tweeted more than now. This year they tweeted less but still highlighted lots of tweets from listeners on the R1 live blog.
