UnofficialStark 1
I thought I'd start this because Radio 1 seem to be doing more and more with the new talent presenters every minute. Whether that's having Sam and Danni on the cover list or the use of Friday EB, they are becoming more and more in focus. This topic could be used to discuss who we think is sounding strongest and therefore who could be permanently on Radio 1 in the near future. It could also be used to discuss whether these presenters really are the way forward? I know we have Dean and Sian as evidence that they are, but at the same time, Radio 1 seems safe with enough presenters to promote when schedule changes are needed again. The likes of Vick and Jordan, RMC, Katie Thistleton and Matt and Mollie could all move up the ranks to help fill the schedule when the next big name presenter leaves the station and there would be no need to introduce any new presenters if so. What are everyone's thoughts?
TheSaviourisHere 7
I love that katie is a go to for cover she is great. Don't hear much of Sam and Danni due to time of day and i Don't get to be up at that time of day anymore. Matty Ciabi (apologies if wrong spelling) was a standout for me at Christmas and need to go back and hear her early breakfast shows. Loved Elliott Derby and James Cusack seems a good regular fit also.
Jono 66
Sam and Danni have done really well to become regulars on early breakfast, would be very interested to hear them on a weekend cover shift. Seb Bailey I'd throw in the mix, as well as some of the names mentioned above, are also great additions.
NathanS 27
James Cusack is a particular one I hope they hold onto in a Jordan North type role (before he gained Sunday mornings). He's covered across the weekend, and although they still try and class it as the weekend... he's covering the Friday afternoon show in a few weeks, which is still a weekday slot. I don't think he's covered early breakfast yet though.

Think so far the next daytime entertainment music one’s to watch at the station - James Cusack - Sam & Danni - Vicki Hawksworth I don’t know who’d yet be the successor to Scott’s afternoon slot. If they don’t by time he leaves have some one to go straight in and interim period to decide the afternoon slot.
BBCAaron 34
considering the recently created thread of Radio 1 in 2025 (at next major schedule shuffle). Are there any names to watch who could do programming across the station. A ones to watch a commercial interest, someone from Christmas takeovers gone by or any wildcards

Anybody can but that doesn’t mean all Wikipedia entries stay up theres many times when certain Wikipedia entries get removed and need citation for entries so dont think its as straight forward

Elliott Darby is doing 1400 to 1800 on BBC Bristol on Saturday afternoons over the summer period. Sounds pretty good. The sad thing is that so many of these "new talent" Radio 1 presenters are of a good quality, not all of them will ever get a full-time slot on Radio 1. I think this will still likely end up being good for them even if they dont work with Radio 1 in the end It can raise a presenters profile and get people jobs on stations like Capital, Kiss FM, Hits (+Hits Pride), Virgin Pride, Radio X think it’s helps for both Radio 1 and careers in the commercial sector. Do wonder whether the rise of the profiles of people who might not end up on Radio 1 may inspire stronger creative competition in the commercial sector. I mean it always has but feels more in real time and more active rather than the natural long evolution of careers of where presenters go after 1. I think we are in the radio industry has spawned new stations throughout the last ten years (many). Think with the stations approach of Future Sounds, Relax etc may influence moves by the industry for ways to come. Think it’s what Radio 1 is doing great now and are slowly getting around to managing some diversity issues that Radio 1 and the industry have had to work on think Aled is passionate about giving people of different backgrounds and more people on a whole a platform
