Sad story about my dog

His name is Mickey. He's very old and blind and deaf. I've had him since I was 12. He was okay until last night.

Last night he was standing in corners for like 7 minutes and not moving. It was freaking me out, he was like a zombie dog. So I picked him up and carried him downstairs and left him there. This morning it took me a while to find him. He has been trembling a lot lately so he was doing that. I took him outside on the leash and he stumbled down the front stairs. He could barely get around the yard. He couldnt even walk properly. I had to carry him up the stairs back into the house. Then I opened up a can of dog food and fed him with a spoon. I called the vet, they called back soon. I spoke to a technician, who she said was like a nurse. I talked to her for a while, found out my dad had made an appointment for this evening. She said it sounded serious. I asked her if dogs get like Alzheimer's and she said they do have conditions where thier brains lose functions. She said it sounded like Geriatric Vestibular Syndrome. I had her spell that so I could look it up. http://www.vara.org/VestibularSyndrome.htm Yes, it does sound like that. My mom came home, I explained it to her. I said, "I think he's dying." She said, "I think he is too." She started to cry.

I really do think my dog is dying. I dont know why I'm not devastated. I guess I just knew it was coming for a while.

I remember when my cat was dying when I was about 7, it was a sad time. He had to be put down, but he knew it was going to happen somehow and ran away for 3 days before my dad found him and took him to the vets.

I'm sorry about your dog :(

I'm sorry about your dog too.

I would be devastated if my dog pass away. he is 12, but I know his time will come one day and it will be very sad day...

my little cat is ill, I don't even know what's wrong with him. He's hobbling around the hose, holding front leg up and not putting any weight on it at all, he doesn't want to eat, but I hope he will be fine in few days. This is a cat, he will pull through, but I don't like to see animals suffer. who does? hmmm... only people with hearts of stone, I think.

Aw, I'm so sorry hun! :-( Don't give up hope though! We have a dog called Barney. He's a 5 year old German Shepherd/Labrador and he once had Parvo disease. This basically gives him the runs and makes him vomit all the time. Coupled with a loss of appetite, it's not good. He was in the vets for about three weeks until we decided to bring him home to die. At this time he was only 9 months old so his immune system wasn't that strong. When we brought him home, my mum tried what many people would call "force-feeding". She put bits of chicken on the back of his tounge, held his mouth closed and rub his throat until he swallowed it. It eventually paid off and he's now the proud father of 9 adorable little pups and he's the most beautiful dog we've ever owned. Don't give up hope! :-)

Okay well we went to the vet. Before we left my parents were hugging and my mom was crying. My mom never cries. She cried a lot at her father's funeral, my grandfather's funeral. I put my arms around both my parents. I also took a picture of them with the dog.

Well we went. The dog has a fever and its making him disoriented. He may have an infection or the boil on his thigh may be a tumor which is causing him much pain when he walks. The doctor gave him a very strong antidote shot - apparently the same stuff they give to people who are infected with anthrax. He prescribed medicine and said it should - might - pass in a few days. Thank God, I thought it was something really terrible. But likely an infection and high fever.

When we got him home he was walking fine, got up the front steps okay, and even drank some water.

    • Now in it's third week, the new Capital Breakfast Show seems to be settling down well and there are more of the informal, random Jordan topics appearing.  Though it is clear he wants to be seen slightly differently. It really is a very decent listen.
    • Just Vick and Katie on Wednesday (and presumably Thursday as well).
    • Unless people can provide a source for this information then it should be treated as false.   Why would Jordan sign a contract with the BBC in the autumn when he agreed a deal with Global?  He could have left in August and not had to deal with the BBC.  Vick who doesn't really like Global why would she recommend him to go there and then warn him in her post to be careful?   It's been whispered from October that Roman was thinking of going.  Roman and Jordan have the same management team.  Why would they put Jordan in a place where he would have to battle with the BBC.  They could have agreed a deal with Global for Jordan in the summer.  They might have had to pay first couple months but they would do they to secure him.  If they had known about Roman wanting to leave they could have paid Roman off to get Jordan on air quicker.  Global would also not had legal around BBC contract to deal with and would not have had to pay the BBC to release Jordan.  None of what people say makes sense and if it did happen the way people say then BBC are not the stupid ones.  It really is not a good look to be talking with Global for 6 months, to then sign a contract with a the BBC, continue to talk to Global behind BBC's back after signing and then couple of months later want to leave and to throw a hissy fit as the BBC are not giving you what you want when you want it. That not a good light for Jordan or his management.
    • Wow, surprised he signed a new contract in September but it says a lot about Jordan that he continued to a very high standard throughout last summer/autumn if this was all going on in the background.
    • They knew Roman wanted to leave early last year but wasn't officially announced but he gave them time to sort replacement. Found and offered Jordan a deal in June or July and needed time to get Jordan out of Contract at bbc and roman to do notice  Jordan had dinner with Katie Vick and Arielle to ask advice and all said he should go.
    • And they told Radio 4’s Feedback that it was an ‘experiment’ to ‘look at the best way to serve young listeners’ but reaffirmed that 280 hours commitment.
    • I doubt he wanted to go to Global if a slot before he found out kemp was leaving.
    • We're hoping to get some answers in the coming weeks
    • From what he's saying on the Pod he's been trying to get out of r1 for a while. Looks like he needed to wait for a show on global to be available. Jordan had bbq last summer with most of thr global execs and he's referenced the deal was in place then. Obviously the hold up was r1 being stubborn
    • All seems to be back to normal this morning.
    • Indeed and Jordan was already friends with Sian Welby, Will Manning and Jimmy Hill.
    • It's great to see those friendships still thriving. I think the days of Radio 1 DJs and Capital DJs being unable to co-exist is long over. You used to either be firmly BBC or commercial, and you don't get the sense that's the case anymore.
    • Maia Beth will be presenting the Radio 1 Happy shows from the 27th April replacing Katie.  https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001ydkr
    • Vick and Jordan together on Insta (with Ariel’s) in Ibiza. You do imagine Jordan’s ex colleagues have a very different attitude to him than management. Comments on Help! And very subtle comments on Capital Breakfast suggest Jordan was frustrated with Radio 1 / BBC management.
    • I can name quite a few people on this forum who would be better presenters than Danny.
