Interesting to see Sian potentially getting some daytime cover. The fact there’s a breakfast best bits seems to look like it’ll be normal music.

It’s also interesting that they’ve not got the Xmas presenters on that Monday. Having Charli XCX on Future Sounds also seems to indicate that they’re doing the Celeb takeover again.

Can’t see that schedule being real either? Why is Best of Breakfast only on for an hour?

As much as I’d love to see a return to that sort of stuff at the end of the year (didn’t Moyles have a whole day of highlights?), it probably won’t happen because of the Christmas intake of presenters?

I'm going to wait to make any firm prediction, but I can't see it being much different to the past couple of years (main presenters finishing week before Christmas, with the 'B team stepping in). Christmas presenters from Boxing Day to NYE/NYD. I think Scott will reveal the Christmas no.1 on Christmas Eve and I'm hopeful he does the Christmas Day breakfast show as is tradition (even if it does fall on a Saturday).

I've enjoyed Jordan doing the New Year's countdown for the past few years but I can see him stepping down from that now he's drivetime host. Dean McCollough or Charlie Hedges would be a good shout for this.

Pre Christmas Presenters intake... I used to enjoy the themed days across the Christmas period (Greatest Hits/Anthems), Best of the Live Lounge, Big Weekend Highlights, Chart of the year, 10 hour takeover etc.

Could be on all week?

Good point. Like I said, I would love for them to do something like that again. Wasn’t it usually NYD for Moyles, something like a “12 hour breakfast” with a different month in every hour?

Feels like Scott & Chris have enough highlights for a day like this too.

It seems like this years festive period is a reduced intake for debut presenters but think that having ‘Best of’ pre packaged content shows are a good idea maybe something that can add few pre recorded links some of the behind the scenes relaxed chats about behind the scenes chat would be good to shoehorn when its more of a relaxed approached to doing radio. I think the all star Christmas things with Charli XCX would be good. Like think having across Radio 1, Radio 1 Xtra and Radio 2 having some comedy entertainment shows for the evenings would be interesting.

Used to like the 10 hour take over having that on Christmas Eve or the 23rd would be good falling in the days before Christmas when people are travelling home to families or doing last minute shopping etc.

Personal taste never was as keen on the whole Teen awards highlights shows they used to do mainly with audiences deafening noise

Chart of the Year feel should come back and never shouldve been dropped

some highlights of the live music from the livelounge, big weekend, future sounds and Christmas top i of the pops should have space in Schedules. When they did Scott and Chris’s banger special days was good.

I find for any station the Christmas period is an interesting to see what stuff experiment or come up with to get listeners tuning in. Something i enjoy listening to over the seasons especially in a rest moment or nothing on tv

This is another claim to be the latest Christmas Day schedule. Makin at BBC Tees seems older than I expected so I'm not convinced by the below...

07:00 Kat Cowan

11:00 Scott Makin (apparently pre-recorded from BBC Radio Tees)

14:00 Christmas Anthems with Katie Thistleton (pre-recorded)

15:00 Christmas Eve Afternoon (not known who yet)

18:00 Radio 1 Anthems with Sarah Story

22:00 Christmas Anthems in the mix

Will make a change from wall to wall 'artist takeovers' if it is a recorded Xmas special of their show. Maybe one for directly after the breakfast show?

Especially as Christmas Day is a Saturday as well. Wouldn’t have expected Vick and Jordan to be on at all.
Apparently the press release is coming out tonight too so we should have some more idea of what is happening over Christmas then!

Christmas Eve I'll go with:

Early Breakfast Jess Izzatt

Breakfast Show Matt & Mollie

Mid Morning Dean McCollough

Afternoon Katie Thistleton (Christmas Eve is usually wall to wall Christmas songs, so maybe no party anthems)

Christmas Official Chart with Scott Mills

Normal Friday night lineup.

Will keep an eye out for the schedule announcement then, i do think that best of the year or specials of Jordan and Vick and other daytime shows will make for a good change think its better to have artist take over dripped out over festive period to back to back. Noticed that BBC Sounds have already got some of their festive playlists available to download and listen now so think the Christmas highlights are soon know started with tv highlights of who’s on strictly Christmas special

I like the look of that schedule. I assume Scott & Dean are live, with the rest pre recorded. Shame breakfast doesn't start till 8, I used to like waking up and tuning straight in. The Greg James rogue promises programme sounds interesting indeed. It's a running thing on his show. No 'filler' playlists either. Double Scott Mills on Christmas day too.

    • Do you prefer doing Capital Breakfast to Radio 1 or the other way round?
    • Jesus christ, Olivia Rodrigo was around 3 years ago!?! I thought she was only born in 2019. Anyway. They are doing it to rival commercial networks, on the main 2 lists anyway with rotating them more. Which all in all is a pit of misery. I'm sick to bloody death of Stick Season, it's an utter bag of mediocre wank that makes me even prefer James Blunt circa 2005. Radio 1 still is more expansive however, loved stuff they play and make their own early days, like Jungle Back on 74 like last year.  They can't lose doing stuff that, or else they become bland like everyone else. They have done that for many years though. I heard a song on a March 2001 aircheck from Chris Moyles recently and rediscovered a song by Kings Of Convenience, called Toxic Girl. Totally lost over 25 years but totally love it like it's new. Radio 1 has always played the big time pop stuff since your nan was 3. But they always have and still do throw something on the playlists that isn't what everyone else has. I hope they continue to do that as it sets them apart.
    • I think they are looking too much into this and need to get a proper job where you have to get up at 5am.
    • Zayn's current song isn't on the R1 playlist so would be odd for him to do an interview I guess, not sure either would want it?
    • You have both presented together before your show on Capital. Have you spent time together as friends since, or is the reunion like getting to know one another all over again?   I’m a long time listener in my mid 30s and now outside the R1 target audience age… Chris is into barbecuing and Jordan is into air frying, have you both noticed a change in the other since the days of R1? And are you under any pressure to be on trend at Capital?
    • What do you both miss most about your time at R1?
    • How are you finding the early mornings, and having your afternoons free? Was it easy getting to grips with a different desk and play out system? Do you have any upcoming OBs and anything else exciting planned for the show that you can exclusively share with Unofficialmills? 😀
    • This research is based on the DJs’ voices - pitches, speech rates and fillers like ums and ahs they use - so it’s not affected by sound effects. But yes according to the report Scott is listed as a Radio 2 DJ instead of Radio 1.
    • The playlist has definitely got a bit narrower this year, it feels like. Artists like Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Drake and  Doja Cat seem to be played in every show, even when they’re not on the playlist. Other artists who get a few plays a week, such as Niall Horan, always seem to have the same song played, in his case, Heaven. Whenever they dive into Calvin Harris’ backlog it always seems to be Slide and Promises pulled out, even though they’re two of his least upbeat songs. Most songs they play seem to have been from the 2020s, instead of throwing in a few older hits like Capital does, which is something I think they could do.
    • Jamie Laing out of the schedule for Going Home today - Lauren Layfield in with Katie Thistleton.
    • Bit of a scoop getting an exclusive interview with Zayn, I wonder why he decided not to do Radio 1 too?
    • Who are your favourite artists that are not anywhere close to being on the playlist?   Are there ever songs that make you want to start pulling your hair out (in general, no need to put anyone on blast lol)?
    • Hi to both, miss you loads on radio 1 and hope that you’re doing good at capital 🙏   What was the background to your exits from Radio 1? Do you have any regrets from how it ended?    This one’s more to Jordan, but do you enjoy TV presenting more than radio? What are your targets in TV?
    • I do think if you distracted by talking you wouldn’t put a podcast on in the car. To me unless you used to driving so often that you don’t get distracted and drive for long distances it feels suited to podcasts. I find it odd including Ryan Seacrest or Howard Stern as I don’t know who listens to them in the U.K. Can imagine Chris Evans distracting and annoying on radio in general same for Chris Moyles. I can imagine Scott as not too distracting maybe even in his radio 1 days although if I was a driver I could find Innuendo Bingo or Funny Business distracting based on the humour of the features but Scott’s got a very soft gentle tone of voice doesn’t come across as loud or in your face. I think when you are on in the working day where people maybe listening as said in car, in the office or tradespeople on a job listening to the radio theres a certain style needed
    • Yes, good on you doing your own music blog website. I get that point with the 100% all new music can be alienating but think thats more if the station were to do more totally new bands and artists the thing that new music shows that preceded Jack have always have reflected big artists national and international who have been around for a while be that few years to a decade or two whether playing new stuff from artists to Dua Lipa, Coldplay or Nia Archives. I find its bizarre how music curation has changed a lot in the last decade as what I like of what radio can do well is that ability to hear an audible description of a new artist and information about their music with sense of opinion and thought from the presenter and an interview with the switch to sound features and spotify playlists. It’s not that same magazine effect that Steve Lamarq and Jo Whiley could be an audible magazine show like the NME to Zane Lowe’s radio 1 show complimenting Gonzo which Saunders has revived for MTV
