Radio 2 in the Park 2024

Hiya, I started wondering what the Future Sounds Show will look like when Clara takes over. What will change and which features will be kept and which removed? What do you think and what would you like? 

What is known is that it will definitely remain the hottest record in the world, as it is Radio 1's showcase and they are very proud of it. But what about the rest? Will there be a people party playlist? Live gig? What might be added? 

I'm afraid Clara won't be as lively as Annie and won't speak as well during songs as Annie did. Also the mixing and transitioning between songs may be a bit weaker, but we'll see

I suspect they will change the imaging and the jingles will relate more strongly to the BBC R1 character.

The package Annie uses has been in for at least 5 years now hasn't it

I kind of expect Clara will likely maybe start her tenure in hire new slot with some big interviews and some big hottest records and sessions. It will be interesting to see what is changed with on the Monday show as there won’t be a power down hour some maybe about listnwing parties and maybe just some more elongated sessions interviews and playlists driven by new music. Think it’s finding like with Craig Charles will do with his new afternoon show on 6M stuff to make the music champion and refreshing that to make it exciting think it would be good to maybe see like a weekly playlists that can explore genres and sub genres. Maybe something bit like that exchange thing that Annie tried to do that was bit like Lamarq’s round table think it needs to be that gateway in to the culture of different music scenes and the story’s that define it

I’d be interested to see Clara’s take on the Future Sounds show. Does anyone know how much input Annie has into the songs selected for the show or is it mainly the producer? Because if Annie does have lots of input then I wonder if we might see a change of tone with some of the music played when Clara takes over? For example I could see more RnB and Soul being played because I know that Clara is really into those genres. There may be somewhat of a decrease in the amount of dance played too?

She was always right for this sort of slot I think, draws on her strengths as a broadcaster.

Indeed. The Music Week article with Aled mentions that he put the feelers out to Clara when she started covering the slot last year how she would feel taking on Future Sounds. It's presumably what was being alluded to in the article about DJ's not being moved out of London... and Clara being at the forefront of their future plans.

Clara has taken to the evening slot ('the evening session', as I still think of it!) like a duck to water. Dare I say it - I prefer her to Annie Mac.

I agree. Annie fell into the category (as people like Jo Wiley did in the past) of trying to sound “too cool” but Clara brings total accessibility and a daytime style to it. And even tho he is playing the freshest stuff so does Jack Saunders
