Great to hear Scott doing the Christmas day breakfast show, although seems quite odd he's double shifting, almost certain both will be live (the breakfast show always is, and the chart err... will be live). I'm actually really surprised we don't have Jordan on Christmas Breakfast this year, i was fully expecting it to happen. 2-4pm is also an odd time for the chart to air. The last time it fell on Xmas day, they did it at 10am, which could've made sense again (plus could've been a continuation on from the Breakfast Show, or would've made sense to air at the usual time of 4pm.

The chart will almost certainly be live. It's the most important chart of the year (in the sense it's the one that still gets the general public interested in it), and will have live interaction with the listeners (texts, calls and tweets). There is usually two live shows on Christmas day (Breakfast and 'Drive' usually, or the chart when it falls on 25th December).

Seems like 6-6 NYE is Radio 1 Dance, so is that the stream or with live presenters? doesn't look like any of the regular presenters are on until 6 with Arielle

I imagine the guest presenters will do the dance shows. It's probably blank presenter wise because they haven't announced who's doing it yet.

It will be interesting to see who does the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd as Dev has obviously left, I can’t see Matt and Mollie doing their final weekend breakfast shows then and I don’t think Adele or Arielle will work then as they would have new shows starting the week after.
I could potentially see:

7:00 Jordan North
10:30 Katie Thistleton/Cel Spellman
1:00 Riyadh Khalaf

I think that could possibly work, however I’ve really got no idea!

New Year’s Day seems to be Radio 1 dance apart from Scott with the chart at 4pm

The other difference seems to be that there is no Pete Tong and no replacement for him so Annie's and Danny's show are 3 hours each.

Annie Mac: 6pm-9pm

Danny Howard: 9pm-12am

Article on the Official Charts website says that Katie Thistleton is doing the chart on Christmas Day?

“Tune in to The Official Chart with Katie Thistleton on BBC Radio 1 on December 25 from 2-4pm to hear the Christmas Top 40 countdown and the exclusive reveal of the winner of the Official Christmas Number 1 2020.”

Katie just appeared to confirm she's working Christmas Day, so looks like the info posted by the Official Charts Company is correct.

Does seem a little odd that Scott won't be announcing the Christmas No 1, it's the first time it's fallen on 25th December since he took over as permanent host. Although, it's great he's doing Breakfast again.

Katie also dose a fair bit of  work for BBC Radio Manchester. And last Christmas  hosted a show with Hacker T dog on Christmas day.
So it could be that she conforming that she doing Radio Manchester show on Christmas day.

Who knows we will just have to wait for the press releases and Schedules to be released in full

Arielle is covering 1-4pm on the 2nd and 3rd.

    • Nat hosted the podcast for the fashion brand PrettyLittleThing so yes although not sure that’s an area with lots of opportunities to go back into now?
    • Yep it surely has to be OJ but like many here I wonder why the delay so long? But these are unique circumstances.
    • It 100% wont be Greg James, there’s no one else except OJ. Wild card Ellie Taylor?? Imagine if Richie Anderson gets it, that will be bonkers
    • Because even they don’t know the who’s going to be on Going Home 😂
    • He’s had more cover in August than he’s had over his entire duration at the station 😂
    • James Cusack posted that he is doing 22 shows on R1 in Augusts so that means he will do 10 Weekend Breakfast Shows, 8 Going Home Shows, Covering Sam & Danni 1 time, Covering Dean 1 time, so that leaves 2 more shows in August so I would guess he will doing Going Home on Monday 31st August & Covering Jack on the Chart on Friday 28th August as Jack will probably be at R&L Festival
    • Not sure I can see a schedule with Trevor on afternoons and Spoony on drive, and even if so then it'd be easy enough to give Spoony drive now and have someone else cover Trevor. I very much doubt that about Greg, can's see him wanting to leave R1 anytime soon, nor would R1 bosses want him to leave. At minimum he'll want to break Moyles' record but even then can see him on the station a good while longer.
    • I think it’s more likely Spoony was meant for drive? Or and here’s my out there possibility. They want Greg James but he’s not ready to switch yet so a bit more work for Oo Gary davies and goodier
    • Does anyone actually know why they've stopped updating the schedules?
    • I'm afraid the Sky EPG has become the victim of the BBC's policy of not to update most of the schedules for this week, especially on the Breakfast and Going Home listings! 😆
    • But if it was OJ then surely the announcement would have come by now? Even if there was a delay due to working a plan to relocate production to Salford, that wouldn't take this long. My own guess, based on nothing more than a hunch, is that Trevor was the plan and that's been put on hold for obvious reasons. OJ could then maybe get afternoons...
    • Melvin’s got a radio 2 gig for the forseeable plus am sure I heard he said he was doing something with Ricky too. Ricky did some talksport cover  Nat agree is the big surprise! I’m not sure what she’s doing next as thought she’d have a good shelf life on Radio 1 and thought her and Vicky or Sian Eleri would be the next live lounge hosts.    Dean’s moving to London so that might be a clue but his choice and has something lined up. He did get promoted far too early but almost anyone replacing Scott would have been a downgrade hence was better for Matt and Moll to replace Dean when they knew they could improve a show.    James - nice guy but bit bland and I think his tight link commercial radio style has hindered him in terms of radio 1 and they probably needed Emil in permanently to build him up for daytime cover or future slots in 2/3 years.  Week starting 31st August is their last week and imagine new schedules start the following Monday
    • I think OJ - unless they’ve someone else in mind. OJ, I’d maybe move over to R2 Drive over R1 for.
    • Super late to this and had a reply written but didn’t post as got tied up with World Cup and wasn’t feeling too well. I’m surprised and not surprised by some of these changes  Ricky and Melvin felt like they were coming to an end but I feel sad RMC is coming to end. I do wonder what they’ll do next  Nat O Leary was a surprise - I thought she would have been one they’d have held on to. But am I right in thinking she had a job in fashion when she first started at Radio 1? James Cusack - also a surprise - it took so long for him to get a slot.  Dean - feel a bit sorry for him. Feel like he was promoted far too early and didnt get to bed himself in. The afternoon slot was a disaster and I was listening to Scott by then anyway. He’s really came across well on Early Breakfast but I guess there’s no opportunity for him on daytime. The I’m a Celeb appearance didn’t go well either but at least they finally changed the trial voting rules. Do hope he does well wherever he goes next  Swarzy - I can’t comment on   When are all the last shows - the last week of August? I’ll try and tune in if I can.     Really happy for Emil who I think should have had a slot a long time ago. Big potential for drive or breakfast in the future. Mylo and Rosie - I’m happy for too. I’m happy that they’ve managed to find a new permanent slot after being taken off Hits after so long. I’m not sure they are long term R1 but a massive coup for them all the same
    • Ha no, I did in the context that it appears Mollie is back! Mollie is down to do Future Pop on the 2nd September as well.
