Just heard a trail for Rickie Melvin and Charlie’s new show. They are taking the piss out of commercial radio and it was hilarious! About 1:45 in Scott’s show today (after talking about the rugby)

Lol.. They can talk for more than twenty seconds. Nice dig at commercial radio(*cough cough Capital heart*)  Sounds like they’ll be great.

This feels like a win for the BBC, and they’re really ramming it home in that trail, it’s brilliant.  Can’t wait for the new show, it sounds like it’s gonna be great if this style of humour is what we can expect from the show.

I think they have a different one for mornings, not sure why

Hopefully they'll bring the listenership with them when they join Radio 1, the station could do with a boost in listeners.

I wouldn’t be too sure, the proper fans of their show should, but mostly Kiss listeners, even at Breakfast I’d imagine, will be listening for the music, which will be much less and not the same on Radio 1.  Their show so music heavy it was unreal, at least when I heard it, it made Capital daytime shows sound full of chat compared.

Do we think these guys will go any further than 9-11pm?  Like take over drive to something like that.  I kind of doubt it but you never know, if they do well.

I think they could be the next answer on Breakfast after Greg maybe, in 3-4 years time, or being lined up to take over for Scott if he leaves? I could see Grimmy leavign and Scott doing drive again to allow these 3 onto daytime maybe

That’d be good, but I really doubt Scott returning to drive.

I've read they had a breakfast show for 10 years before this, that's impressive, and kinda explains why they didn't introduced themselves that much yesterday. As someone who has never heard them before, the first impression was not that great, but overall positive. I also expected much longer links, especially after the "we can talk longer than 20 seconds" promos.

The big downer is the music: mostly playlist songs (why...) and 8th style depressing mumbling rap (please no!) so it's still miles behind Annie or Jack.

So it’s nearly been a month since they started. In my opinion their show expects you to known who are they are- they seem to be trying too hard, their socials are flooded with “Don’t forget to tune in!” a few times a day even. I’m stating to miss the 8th a bit, They’re struggling to fit in I think. The humours good but at times feels a bit forced- Oh and they basically stole bangers of Scott and Chris with their Run RMC feature.

Though I do look the random chit chat and their bouncing off each other for laughes. I do feel tho the girl Charlie stands out, She likes dance/house music the other two like pop/hip hop. It’s just a werid Show imo

I think they suit that timeslot - but agree if they want to move into daytime they'll need to broaden their appeal.

I agree, they must have ambitions to move to daytime though, otherwise why would they have taken a late night show after doing the number 1 commercial breakfast show.
