Geeky question about studio allocations

I've been wondering this for a while - Scotts Twitter prompted me to ask

So Friday this week he was talking to Mable on the chart and was in 82A

Later Annie posted an insta story in 82A

So Did Scott move studios in newsbeat at 545, or did he pre record Mable and do his 4pm show in another studio? because he seems to use 82A for the chart, which prompts my next question

Why do the studios used seem to change at weekends

Example here

Weekdays Early breakfast 82D

Breakfast 82A

Clara 82D

Scott 82A

Grimmy 82D

 Annie 82A

Dev 82D

Jack 82A

Weekends

Breakfast 82D

Greatest Hits 82A

Dev and alice 82D

Scott/Jam/Life Hacks 82A

However today Mistajam posted a story of a tour of R1 and looked like he was in 82D and Dev and Alice were in 82A which would make todays allocations same as a weekday

I remember having to do the breakfast show in 82D sometimes and Scott has certainly used 82D on occassion

Hard to tell which are pre records and which aren't where they've had to use the opposite studio to normal

It turns out from the answer Scott does the chart in 82F and they get kicked out of 82A when there is a live lounge on, Clara and Grimmy use 82D normally and they see each other

So Fridays must be

Adele 82D

Matt and Mollie 82F

Maya 82A

Dev/Alice 82D

Scott 82F and Annie 82A

MistaJam may use the same one he does 1Xtra drivetime in on a Saturday maybe and as 7pm Saturday is a 1Xtra take over maybe Target uses the one he uses on a weekday, and the R1 ones dont get used

Out of interest, does anyone know how many Studios were at Yalding House

Cel and Katie are 82F, so I guess MistaJam probably is if Scott is as well on a Friday. Didn’t afternoons use to be 82E on Fridays before the three day weekend? I love this it’s proper geeky chat. Matt and Mollie are pretty much always 82D aren’t they? It’s one of the big ones with the purple walls, rather than blue, and Maya is 82A so it’s gotta be 82D.

Love the geek chat as well and I think by the sounds of them on the podcast Will the producer did too

I am not sure what studio Greg used to do his drive-time show from

I know Grimmy always used to use 82A on breakfast although sometimes 82E or F

I think Matt and Mollie are 82D I know that's usually Clara, Adele and Grimmy too

    • Radio 1 generation meaning??  Today's 10-30 yr-olds? I doubt it. They'll still know Pete Tong though, because he is rhyming slang!
    • There was a time when everyone knew Zane Lowe or Annie Mac or Judge Jules or Dave Pearce or Annie Nightingale. Does the Radio 1 generation know the current bunch?
    • Looks like it's off to Preston!
    • Would be nice to give more presence to the specialist shows over bank holidays. Surely the best way to promote new music credentials over anthems? As much as I accept it's very popular.
    • Peak radio 1 ! I agree with Bluestraw there was huge presence by specialist presenters then , certainly something I think radio1 could do more of now. Remember the takeover where specialist DJs would swap into main shows for a week? Or do we recall In New DJs We Trust, the competition on Chris moyles show where the winner would get a DJ set at radio 1s Ibiza weekend, and that is how Danny Howard’s radio career starters
    • Yeah. He started on R1 in the late 90's when they used do the 'Sessions in the Nations' where they used to split for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. He then moved to daytimes, firstly on weekends in 2003 then they replaced Mark & Lard on the mid afternoon slot in 2004.  Then he moved to late evenings as a specialist DJ.
    • Thanks for sharing that - I don't think I've seen it before. Didn't realise that Colin Murray off of Countdown and R5L used to be on R1! Several other current R2/R5L/R6M names there too.
    • 29th April has updated to show Dan back as presenter but still Nels in for Alyx on Introducing Rock. 6th May schedule has updated to show that the Radio 1 Big Weekend Shows will now be the following: 6am-10am 10am-2pm 2pm-6pm 6pm-8pm Still no presenters listed.
    • Where do we think Radio 2 in the Park will be this year? Personally I'm thinking Swindon after Scott's clue of it having many roundabouts and since Big Weekend is at Luton I can't imagine they'd go to Milton Keynes.
    • Yeah, I feel like they need a big push on Jack to cement him in his new position. But it shouldn't just be Jack, you've got Sian and Alyx for instance, who are relatively new faces.
    • Now in it's third week, the new Capital Breakfast Show seems to be settling down well and there are more of the informal, random Jordan topics appearing.  Though it is clear he wants to be seen slightly differently. It really is a very decent listen.
    • Just watched that advert and it made me realise quite how many 'big' specialist presenters there were back then
    • I've been reminded of this Radio 1 cinema advert. I remember being so excited to see it. The In New Music We Trust era. Everything felt so cool, even if they had Westwood.
    • Just Vick and Katie on Wednesday (and presumably Thursday as well).
    • Unless people can provide a source for this information then it should be treated as false.   Why would Jordan sign a contract with the BBC in the autumn when he agreed a deal with Global?  He could have left in August and not had to deal with the BBC.  Vick who doesn't really like Global why would she recommend him to go there and then warn him in her post to be careful?   It's been whispered from October that Roman was thinking of going.  Roman and Jordan have the same management team.  Why would they put Jordan in a place where he would have to battle with the BBC.  They could have agreed a deal with Global for Jordan in the summer.  They might have had to pay first couple months but they would do they to secure him.  If they had known about Roman wanting to leave they could have paid Roman off to get Jordan on air quicker.  Global would also not had legal around BBC contract to deal with and would not have had to pay the BBC to release Jordan.  None of what people say makes sense and if it did happen the way people say then BBC are not the stupid ones.  It really is not a good look to be talking with Global for 6 months, to then sign a contract with a the BBC, continue to talk to Global behind BBC's back after signing and then couple of months later want to leave and to throw a hissy fit as the BBC are not giving you what you want when you want it. That not a good light for Jordan or his management.
