Radio 2 in the Park 2024

So, Maya

She's on twice a week and has been for nearly a year now, but does anyone else just feel like she doesn't fit in to radio 1? She never seems part of the team or that she cares about her show, there's literally no mention of her on any other show unless they're taking the piss out of her, she never covers and still makes basic mistakes, does anyone else just feel like she doesn't fit in at the station? I'm surprised she hasn't been sacked yet to be honest

Or does anyone have a very different opinion and want to talk me around?

I think we’re all in the same boat here  the only reason she’s still on is because she’s relatively new (and famous) and it would embarrassing to let her go so soon.

She didn’t exactly have the smoothest introduction to R1 with the old tweets scandal, so that could be part of the problem as to why she doesn’t seem heavily a part of the R1 christmas family, but the fact she doesn’t cover anyone else’s shows just gives off a ‘name in lights’ vibe for me, she’s not there to work her way up the hard way. Not to mention her shows sound like she just turned up and rattles off her thoughts on the spot...

Can’t see her lasting 2019 anyway, she’ll most likely decide to leave for TV commitments.

Call me crazy, but she’s ok. She’s more of a tv presenter. Than a radio presenter. She’ll be long gone in 2019 maybe 2020 at the latest.

I don't hate her, she's fine, but she's my second to last favourite current presenter after Cel. She's not bad, just everyone else is better. She's kinda like a "new Fearne" to me.  I still don't agree with her getting a permanent show so soon but as a regular listener of the Greatest Hits hour I don't mind her being on.

Having her on Scott's Friday show was the exception though. I was optimistic about that at first, but turned out to be a disaster.

Maya has got better but she still isn't very good in my opinion. Like others have said,  at times Maya comes across as though she doesn't really care about being on Radio 1 but her social media would say the opposite as she is always posting videos of her in the studio on her Instagram story. 

I find that sometimes Maya tries to make her links longer but she ends up forgetting what she is saying. The other day she said 'and yeah' at the end of one of her sentences as she ran out of things to say. I also don't think she is creative enough as her show lacks ideas. I find both Jordon, Arielle and Katie much better broadcasters so would much prefer to have any of them on in her place but Maya is much more 'on-brand' to teenagers than all of them so I understand why she is there.

I was listening to an old Friday podcast the other day which had Maya on - I'd forgotten just how annoying she used to be.

Technically and presenting-wise she's a bit better than she used to be, but I'd much rather have Jordan on 3 days a week.

What annoys me a bit is how she adds an unnecessary "The" to some band names - such as "The Slaves" and "The Blossoms".

Never notice the ‘the blossoms’ thing - but she’s does the ‘so yeah’ thing all the time
