Someone on Twitter claiming to know for certain that the new schedule launches on 3rd September, with Scott on breakfast for three weeks.

For those wondering, Grimmy mentioned this morning that he starts 4-7 on 3rd September

On Monday 13th August, Scott is taking the ropes, probably until Greg takes over. On the schedule it says “Scott and Chrus sit in for Grimmy.”

But by then, Grimmy is gone. :beuj:

Could just be temporary/automatic and might be changed nearer to the time. I may have completely imagined this, but I think in 2012 for a time the schedule said "The Scott Mills Breakfast Show with Scott!" before it was changed to the more tame "Scott Mills". But like I said, this may be a complete figment of my imagination.

Oooh that's exciting! At least they're changing things other than just the presenter (I'm assuming)! The Chris Smith stuff aside, I'm sure Greg has been working very hard on this show, and I'm looking forward to listening to the first one!

A Radio 1 Breakfast Show from a big radio nerd is going to be a good thing!

There's also a trail for Grimmy airing now that includes a bit of one of his old beds from the 2012 package.

Weird to heard that from his old bed again. Preferred that to the new stuff actually. Wonder if he'll use his original breakfast opener on Thursday

A surprising number of people requesting "highlights" of Grimmy's breakfast show. Which goes to show two things:

1) most of the stuff being requested is from 2012-15, proving that literally nothing memorable happened for HALF this breakfast show's life

2) There are actually people out there who LIKED this breakfast show. It's easy to forget, and difficult to understand.

Now, not to offend anyone (having started like this, obviously I probably will): I think loads of 'typical' teenagers actually liked Grimmy's show and now they've grown up a bit, they still do.

He's always had famous popstars and celebs on his show and to be fair to him, he was very polite to them so they appeared to like him. He's also friends with loads of celebs so he can get them on his show pretty easily (like Rita or Harry Styles). And he did a couple of things with them that would certainly appeal to a teenage mind - the school run, the heart rate monitor, or simply gossiping with them.

I've always been that nerdy, weird kid, so I can't get the hype about this stuff, but logically that's probably one of the reasons people liked his show.

From my POV, I’ve always liked Grimmy on breakfast and as a presenter (but then I’ve been his typical target audience for his reign on breakfast haha). But I think we all know the show has gone downhill since the original breakfast team started to leave in 2015, and it went from a show I had to listen to, to a show which I listened to when I had the chance, which is a shame - its like it became set up for failure with the lack of features and content compared to your typical breakfast show

I can understand why people would have liked the show more when Matt Fincham was producing it, with Fiona, Tina and Ian on for the various features, but I agree in that recently, there's fairly little to it now aside from 5 minute celebrity interviews that are cut between 3 or 4 songs. It hasn't been treated like the landmark show of one of the biggest radio stations in the UK. He's certainly not been allowed to go out with a bang, and I think that that's harsh on him, bearing in mind what he's had to directly follow 'The Saviour of Radio 1', change the demographic and the music dense shows these days!

Listening to the breakfast show and Dev and Alice's drivetime stint recently, it does make you appreciate what Greg, Scott and Matt have done to produce great features every week that you look forward to (i.e. Bamboleo, Bangers, the WhoooooooOOoooo game, What's My Age Again, etc.).

The first confirmed feature of Nick Grimshaw's drivetime show is... the entertainment news with Sinead Garvan! Wonder whether they're bringing back the 6:30.

To be fair, I’m glad thats going with him, as long as its not every hour that is! I’m also glad its not going to get in the way of Greg’s show.

This show is making me more certain that it wasn’t Grimmy’s choice to leave breakfast. Some of the things he is saying are interesting...

Like "after that link no wonder the Radio 1 bosses decided it was time to freshen things up a bit" or whatever he said after Sinead replayed the camel chat?
