That’s a very good point actually - I wouldn’t be surprised if Jordan is a part of that in the summer. However that would be a whole chunk of time off at once rather than every 3 weeks ish which is what Jordan seems to be doing at the moment!

The series is less of a back-up but something that will be a best of the contestants from the years think

I just remembered that ITV are meant to be doing an all-star edition of I’m a Celebrity… in South Africa, which will be fully pre-recorded as a backup in case they can’t make the normal series later in the year for whatever reason. Perhaps Jordan is taking part in that?

Press release from ITV states that it isn’t a back up and would be broadcasted think early 2023 in addition to its usual series as one off additional series as a best of contenders from years gone by

Tomorrow's a bit different...

Mollie and Dean (in for Matt) in for Greg tomorrow

Sian Eleri in for Dean

James Cusack in for Matt & Mollie

Jack Saunders in for Scott on the Official Chart.

Its not a day that would expect for a mid may non-bank holiday Friday of cover. No longer you’d have someone like Jordan or Dev that would end up covering for a seven day week and the odd multiple shows a day. Its been a while since we had days where the evening presenters covering daytime shows like Annie Macmanus when she’d covered for Fearne C/ Clara A on a small few occasions. Huw Stephens various shows covered likewise Phil Taggart

Big Weekend on air schedule Sat/Sun is:

11.00-14.00 Dean

14.00-17.00 Matt

17.00-20.00 Charlie (Sat) / Katie (Sun)

20.00-23.00 Sarah (Sat) / Sian (Sun)

By the looks of it certain bits of the schedule yet to update on the website schedule. Assume maybe you’d have them joined by presenters from across the schedule. Used to enjoy it when presenting teams were a rarity where Annie Macmanus, Scott Mills and Cel Spellman could present together and Huw Stephens, Charlie Sloth and Danny Howard could be doing it together very dated examples

Why do you always refer to her as Annie Macmanus? ?

Nothing to much to it if referring to myself since she’s using her surname in full for her most recent projects feels more formality rather than the shortened DJ name.

Jack is in for Clara Monday 20th to Thursday 23rd June.

Kerrie Cosh is in for Jack Monday 20th to Wednesday 22nd June.

Nels Hylton is in for Jack on Thursday 23rd June.

Katie is in for Dean on Friday 24th June.

According to the schedule, Katie is hosting some sort of Glastonbury themed show. Charlie Tee is also in for Danny on that Friday.

I mean it could be bit like how Alice Levine, Huw Stephens and Clara Amfo done shows from Glastonbury over the years kind of think Jack Saunders would be a good co-host with Katie on that day of Glastonbury

    • There was a time when everyone knew Zane Lowe or Annie Mac or Judge Jules or Dave Pearce or Annie Nightingale. Does the Radio 1 generation know the current bunch?
    • Looks like it's off to Preston!
    • Would be nice to give more presence to the specialist shows over bank holidays. Surely the best way to promote new music credentials over anthems? As much as I accept it's very popular.
    • Peak radio 1 ! I agree with Bluestraw there was huge presence by specialist presenters then , certainly something I think radio1 could do more of now. Remember the takeover where specialist DJs would swap into main shows for a week? Or do we recall In New DJs We Trust, the competition on Chris moyles show where the winner would get a DJ set at radio 1s Ibiza weekend, and that is how Danny Howard’s radio career starters
    • Yeah. He started on R1 in the late 90's when they used do the 'Sessions in the Nations' where they used to split for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. He then moved to daytimes, firstly on weekends in 2003 then they replaced Mark & Lard on the mid afternoon slot in 2004.  Then he moved to late evenings as a specialist DJ.
    • Thanks for sharing that - I don't think I've seen it before. Didn't realise that Colin Murray off of Countdown and R5L used to be on R1! Several other current R2/R5L/R6M names there too.
    • 29th April has updated to show Dan back as presenter but still Nels in for Alyx on Introducing Rock.
    • Where do we think Radio 2 in the Park will be this year? Personally I'm thinking Swindon after Scott's clue of it having many roundabouts and since Big Weekend is at Luton I can't imagine they'd go to Milton Keynes.
    • Yeah, I feel like they need a big push on Jack to cement him in his new position. But it shouldn't just be Jack, you've got Sian and Alyx for instance, who are relatively new faces.
    • Now in it's third week, the new Capital Breakfast Show seems to be settling down well and there are more of the informal, random Jordan topics appearing.  Though it is clear he wants to be seen slightly differently. It really is a very decent listen.
    • Just watched that advert and it made me realise quite how many 'big' specialist presenters there were back then
    • I've been reminded of this Radio 1 cinema advert. I remember being so excited to see it. The In New Music We Trust era. Everything felt so cool, even if they had Westwood.
    • Just Vick and Katie on Wednesday (and presumably Thursday as well).
    • Unless people can provide a source for this information then it should be treated as false.   Why would Jordan sign a contract with the BBC in the autumn when he agreed a deal with Global?  He could have left in August and not had to deal with the BBC.  Vick who doesn't really like Global why would she recommend him to go there and then warn him in her post to be careful?   It's been whispered from October that Roman was thinking of going.  Roman and Jordan have the same management team.  Why would they put Jordan in a place where he would have to battle with the BBC.  They could have agreed a deal with Global for Jordan in the summer.  They might have had to pay first couple months but they would do they to secure him.  If they had known about Roman wanting to leave they could have paid Roman off to get Jordan on air quicker.  Global would also not had legal around BBC contract to deal with and would not have had to pay the BBC to release Jordan.  None of what people say makes sense and if it did happen the way people say then BBC are not the stupid ones.  It really is not a good look to be talking with Global for 6 months, to then sign a contract with a the BBC, continue to talk to Global behind BBC's back after signing and then couple of months later want to leave and to throw a hissy fit as the BBC are not giving you what you want when you want it. That not a good light for Jordan or his management.
    • Wow, surprised he signed a new contract in September but it says a lot about Jordan that he continued to a very high standard throughout last summer/autumn if this was all going on in the background.
