We do have Saturday and Sunday now. Only noticeable changes are no Matt And Mollie on Saturday and Sunday with them being replaced by Rickie and Melvin on Saturday and Charlie joining them on the Sunday. Also Adele is not on Sunday Breakfast and is replaced by a 4 hour chillout anthems show with Jess Iszatt from 7am-11am with Jordan from 11am-1pm.

I’d like to see these new presenters have a go at doing a normal mainstream show rather than have a really strict format.

I said this on a post a while back, when Arielle gets time off from Early Breakfast, hopefully one of the recent Friday breakfast hosts gets a crack at covering, a full week of normal mainstream format.

As much as RMC are good at what they do, and i don't mind hearing them in the day, in my opinion i don't understand why they are moved off their slot to cover Clara, with Adele covering them. She was Clara's main cover for ages, and imo... best cover for that slot. Their show works best in their nighttime slot, not so much at 10:30, where that slot has been more music focussed (Scott and Matt & Mollie's 1pm slot is probably the best cover slot for their style imo, in terms of entertainment & personality led shows).

Here's an interesting one - Jack Saunders will be in for Nick Grimshaw on Wednesday 31st March, with Jess Iszatt covering Jack's show that evening.

Just curious where you saw that? I checked the schedule and I could not see anything.

Ooh that’s interesting - correct me if I’m wrong but I think that’s the first time he’s covered a proper daytime show as opposed to him doing the Indie Show on the nighttime takeover?

Yes I think it is! I'm very interested to hear how he sounds. I really rate him as a broadcaster and he seems to have a great personality so him covering Grimmy should be good!

Nice to see some of the Christmas lot returning. James Cusack was one of my favourites.

Assuming the 10 hour takeover starts at 7, that means the first hour of dance anthems will be requests too? A little odd that Sunday Breakfast finishes at 11, as opposed to the 10:30 news junction.

Yes, the first hour of Dance Anthems does seem to be requests. I would guess that Sunday Breakfast finishes at 11 because the Chillout Anthems have been made into 1 hour long shows with 4 put together, a bit like the R1 Dance shows.

Thrust would be quite interesting change of style and programming from the time he pops up odd time to time speaking on daytime shows and some game features of battle of fans before on indie show he seems he could fit day time do feel like it would be good to get a specialist presenter back on day time again as Huw Stephens did good cover and his own show on Saturday and Sunday afternoons for years so think it would be good to have that passion for music and bring some more specialist with entertainment that fits daytime again. I mean Annie covered Fearne Cotton possibly Clara vise versa so seems like going back to more blended between covering I mean it’s not far of to how Radio 1 Xtra or 6 Music would do it

Easter Monday

6am- James Cusak

10am- Vicky Hawkesworth

2pm- Robyn Ritchford

6pm- Sian Eleri sits in for Annie

Tuesday 6th-Thursday 8th April

Jack Saunders in for Annie

Jess Izatt sits in for Jack (Tues-Wed)

Nels Hylton sits in for Jack (Thurs)

Must’ve stopped using Sophie K as cover for indie and new artists think guess radio 1 getting more diverse with cover presenter probably hopes to change schedule abit in a year or two to bring younger fresher talent out that would take cheaper salary and work up in Salford or other locations. Think also there could be thing under the new direction BBC is taking could see some stars at the coroporation incentivise to go commercial so probably why getting more younger talent in after seeing Dev go to heart and Jam going to Capital Dance. Wouldn’t be surprised if Rsdio X ever do a spin off station with newer music that competes with Radio 1 overnight and 6M

I still feel that the new time slots are a bit odd at radio 1 however normally most radio listen to odd bit of commercial and bbc sounds more on demand. But it seems far too messy these days as with Radio 1 Xtra which I assume in few months time will slightly change as still got a 4 hour daytime slot

Yes would be good if got some of the new presenters to cover RMC and Jordan North Adele Roberts when they off etc especially get local presenters on like think Radio 2 should also rely on Local BBC presenters than Rylan Joe Lycett Will Young or Alan Carr get them to not just do short intro out two links to stuff but whole show but guess with covid and stuff anyway and less producers and people working on shows harder to do with different people

1xtra seems to be going back to usual just after Easter! I think a couple of their presenters have had to shield so obviously haven’t been able to be inside the building to do their shows.

Just seen that, just didn’t get so much of the word starting drive at 3.30 PM or ending Jack Saunders at midnight than one in morning. I didn’t quite get why they didn’t get Ace to broadcasts his morning show from home as stations like Greatest Hits Radio, Times Radio, LBC etc have managed it in past year

They will still have to break for the news at 10:30 on the Sunday though, so doesn't really make sense why next presenter can't takeover as normal. Just seems inconsistent.

    • I would rather do the new music show than the breakfast show early starts, being cheery and entertaining isn’t my vibe and being hip and on trend. With new music it’s a different kettle of fish that could get my teeth into and enjoy researching and planning of the show and coming up with ideas and making my mark in away that I don’t think I have the ideas for a breakfast. I don’t see how it could be alienating but I enjoy the niche and speciality of expertise that new music shows gives it’s good spot of giving you the headlines and setting the agenda of mainstream music.
    • Absolutely, Jack is such an incredible broadcaster already, incredibly entertaining with such brilliant music knowledge and his excitement is contagious, I've never really listened to New Music Shows like Future Sounds but I'm instantly invested in new music due to his show, as I'm sure many others are too.  yes the effects are a little strange but after listening back they're strangely charming when you get used to them.
    • Jack has smashed it He was born for this show, he said he’d been dreaming of it and you could tell. Such passion and energy as always with Jack but in a show that can grab people’s attention and drag them down the rabbit hole of new music if you had a keen interest in discovering new music but haven’t in a while, new music shows can be alienating with no familiarity until you ‘get into it’ - the new show has ensured you can ease into to get back into sync . i love the Zane influences - he will be the forefront of where every emerging and returning artist wants to be with this show . Very excited for this chapter
    • Oh I though they were nbh studios
    • Yes, I feel that unless it’s for a special sessions with a large ensemble band that for live sessions going out live on the radio. Never saw why they haven’t used the live lounge studio and feel that room could be used more.
    • Interesting now Zane has for apple interviewed anything from an artists that have charted and doing less interviews with new and emerging talents chatting to Shakira, Usher, Kelly Clarkson and Shania Twain. Yes, that is a positive thing about Jack Saunders. Although I don’t mind it from time to time for a presenter to be honest and spill an unsavoury opinion about music on the station like Annie did with Fall Out Boy.
    • Interesting Jack mentioned they've got new studios at Maida Vale; you'd think, with the move to Stratford, they wouldn't bother update the studios so close to the end...
    • I assume it's meant to appeal to a TikTok generation
    • Yep Jack is very much Radio 1's modern day Zane Lowe - but with the bonus that he does feel a bit a bit more open-minded and open to chart stuff than Zane was. I could never imagine Zane being a chart host the way Jack is - I always had the sense if Zane didn't approve of your music taste he'd make you well aware of it.
    • I will still call them sessions as feel with gigs it makes you think of a live tangible means of going to listen to a band play music and not virtually tuning in via the medium of radio.
    • He does what the show needs regardless of how annoying some people may find his presentation style is like. I feel and very much do hope he is in for the long haul and could atleast do four years where his energy may into be as always as bouncy. But he has the knowledge, passion and interaction and not so overbearing but very much so sense of confidence that you need. I think he could easily have a good Zane Lowe like era. Just hope that they consider doing a new late night live music show as I do miss that something of what he had in the early days of the indie show and when Huw Stephens was on live at the after ten slot
    • Speaking of the sessions, they've been renamed Live Gigs for any forum members not listening to the show & reading this later
    • I’ve found the jingles are annoying and going to grate on the listener quickly. It’s a good opening week with big name hottest records and sessions
    • With the effects I'm half expecting a massive whoooooo soon
