As far as I know, they’re not playing out the Teen Awards when they are actually occurring and it’s only the week after when they are being shown.

Christ almighty so they have further watered down coverage this year. Getting to the point where there's no point of it even taking place. I remember very well watching the Teen Awards live on the Red Button back in 2017 and two years later it seems we have got the point where it gets relegated to an hours highlight the following Saturday. Pretty embarrassing to think that really and reminds me of Global not even broadcasting their flagship awards show on any station.

They probably won’t do teen awards next year. Seems the BBC don’t care about them anymore

Alice is off for the next 7(!) weeks and so I’m assuming Dev will be flying solo.

Also,

• Cel Spellman is in for Arielle on Early Breakfast on Friday

• Matt and Mollie are in for Greg next Monday

• Jordan is in for Grimmy on Drive all this week as Grimmy is doing his sport relief challenge

I think we are safely in a scenario now where the weekday presenters do not cover weekends at all, I remember Scott and Greg would always appear covering weekend shows weekends are self covering with the duets negating the need for a weekday presenter to create an extra fee maybe or using someone from other stations

The Jordan Maya set up Saturday seems strange. Alice is off for a few more weeks yet I think

I think it’s probably Jordan covering the whole show but the website hasn’t completely updated yet.

Also, I think Alice is off until around the middle of April on her tour.

Didn’t Chris cover it when there was an interregnum between presenters maybe before JK & Joel so there were different DJ’s presenting think Jo Whiley was one and poss Chappers and Dave?

I'd love to hear that if anyone has it - i'll have a look on chrismoyles.net

ALSO when Scott covered the chart in Greg's era, did he cover it in full, I remember the beast from the east show Scott did it from 1430 to 1600 to allow the 4-7 show to be dedicated to Gregathlon

Before that would Scott move from 1-4 to cover the 4-7 chart show and someone else cover his 1-4 show?

More schedule updates for this weeked. Katie Thistleton is covering for Arielle on Early Breakfast on Friday and Scarlett Moffatt is joining Dev as a co-host whilst Alice is away.

On the 20th March, Cel and Katie are doing the Chart and Party Anthems whilst Cel is also covering Arielle on the 21st and Mollie is solo on Weekend Breakfast on the 22nd.

As a side note Scot is currently still down to his 5 live show on the Saturday 21, after missing the chart the day before.

The 5 live show is billed as Scott Mills and Chis Stark, but when he was off sick couple weeks ago Chris did it, so i'd imagine it's Chris solo

Scott did cover occasionally with someone like Matt doing his show but think was mainly Dev and laterly Mistajam before Scott took over.

    • There was a time when everyone knew Zane Lowe or Annie Mac or Judge Jules or Dave Pearce or Annie Nightingale. Does the Radio 1 generation know the current bunch?
    • Looks like it's off to Preston!
    • Would be nice to give more presence to the specialist shows over bank holidays. Surely the best way to promote new music credentials over anthems? As much as I accept it's very popular.
    • Peak radio 1 ! I agree with Bluestraw there was huge presence by specialist presenters then , certainly something I think radio1 could do more of now. Remember the takeover where specialist DJs would swap into main shows for a week? Or do we recall In New DJs We Trust, the competition on Chris moyles show where the winner would get a DJ set at radio 1s Ibiza weekend, and that is how Danny Howard’s radio career starters
    • Yeah. He started on R1 in the late 90's when they used do the 'Sessions in the Nations' where they used to split for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. He then moved to daytimes, firstly on weekends in 2003 then they replaced Mark & Lard on the mid afternoon slot in 2004.  Then he moved to late evenings as a specialist DJ.
    • Thanks for sharing that - I don't think I've seen it before. Didn't realise that Colin Murray off of Countdown and R5L used to be on R1! Several other current R2/R5L/R6M names there too.
    • 29th April has updated to show Dan back as presenter but still Nels in for Alyx on Introducing Rock.
    • Where do we think Radio 2 in the Park will be this year? Personally I'm thinking Swindon after Scott's clue of it having many roundabouts and since Big Weekend is at Luton I can't imagine they'd go to Milton Keynes.
    • Yeah, I feel like they need a big push on Jack to cement him in his new position. But it shouldn't just be Jack, you've got Sian and Alyx for instance, who are relatively new faces.
    • Now in it's third week, the new Capital Breakfast Show seems to be settling down well and there are more of the informal, random Jordan topics appearing.  Though it is clear he wants to be seen slightly differently. It really is a very decent listen.
    • Just watched that advert and it made me realise quite how many 'big' specialist presenters there were back then
    • I've been reminded of this Radio 1 cinema advert. I remember being so excited to see it. The In New Music We Trust era. Everything felt so cool, even if they had Westwood.
    • Just Vick and Katie on Wednesday (and presumably Thursday as well).
    • Unless people can provide a source for this information then it should be treated as false.   Why would Jordan sign a contract with the BBC in the autumn when he agreed a deal with Global?  He could have left in August and not had to deal with the BBC.  Vick who doesn't really like Global why would she recommend him to go there and then warn him in her post to be careful?   It's been whispered from October that Roman was thinking of going.  Roman and Jordan have the same management team.  Why would they put Jordan in a place where he would have to battle with the BBC.  They could have agreed a deal with Global for Jordan in the summer.  They might have had to pay first couple months but they would do they to secure him.  If they had known about Roman wanting to leave they could have paid Roman off to get Jordan on air quicker.  Global would also not had legal around BBC contract to deal with and would not have had to pay the BBC to release Jordan.  None of what people say makes sense and if it did happen the way people say then BBC are not the stupid ones.  It really is not a good look to be talking with Global for 6 months, to then sign a contract with a the BBC, continue to talk to Global behind BBC's back after signing and then couple of months later want to leave and to throw a hissy fit as the BBC are not giving you what you want when you want it. That not a good light for Jordan or his management.
    • Wow, surprised he signed a new contract in September but it says a lot about Jordan that he continued to a very high standard throughout last summer/autumn if this was all going on in the background.
