Alice seems to be off a fair bit maybe it’s to do with her comedy show

I think her big comedy tour is next year when I think she’ll be having lots of time off. It’s a bit of a shame in my opinion because I feel like with Dev being off until Christmas and then I think Alice is off for a while after that, I think they’ll lose some of their chemistry unfortunately.

So because of Strictly, Dev only seems to be doing Sundays for now? He was off last Fri/Sat too.

Seems he is having most Friday/Saturdays off and Adele covers

Dev does Sunday to give Adele a day off herself

Just happens Alice is off too, so maybe she'll be back in the next few weeks solo Fri/Sat

Also noticed Greg has some more time off coming up and Matt is in for him solo, no Mollie

Covers W/E 21st October:

  • Rickie, Melvin & Charlie are off so Adele Roberts sits in for them
  • Katie Thistleton is sitting in for Adele
  • Jordan is sitting in for Scott
  • Phil Taggart is in for Annie

So far this year, Scott has been covered by: Dev & Alice (twice), RMC & now Jordan?

The programme description says that Chris will be with Jordan.

Yeah defo says Chris is with

It's weird I wonder why Chris just doesn't do the show solo? I mean he's been there long enough to operate the equipment and all and he knows the show

it's well known he operates the desk when Scott pops out for his coffee and fag at 1430 before bangers

Seems weird someone of Chris' experience and knowledge of the show and studios he doesn't do it on his own

Something else - I notice that Dev and Alice take turns in doing the desk, as do Matt & Mollie why don't Scott and Chris? probably a good reason

Add to that, RMC also take turns doing the desk over the week

I see that Jordan is in for Clara for the week commencing 4th of November with Adele back to early breakfast.

He has covered the 10am show before so no suprise maybe Adele is being lined up for nights

Scott to weekends, RMC to afternoons and Adele to Night time

(Adele is still down to be on Tuesday but that might be wrong)

I noticed that as well, may be incorrect if she's off I mean makes sense for her to be off after two weeks of covering other shows

Her insta is always saying how she wakes naturally at 2am when off so maybe they decided to put her in for two "daytime" shows the weeks before she is off so she is not as tired

I think it is incorrect as Jordan is in for her the week after so I think she’s probably on holiday

Also, adding to this, R1 seem to having different presenters cover each week another presenter is off. For example, Adele is off her normal show at the moment and has Arielle covering one week and Katie the other. Clara is also off and has Adele covering one week and then Jordan the other. It seems to be a new thing they are implementing at the moment.

  • 2 weeks later...

22nd-23rd November: Jordan North in for Maya, Kenny Allstar covering the rap show.

24th November: Matt is solo on Weekend Breakfast. (Note that I think the majority of the schedule is incorrect for that day as the Teen Awards are down to take place for that day)

25th-28th November: Arielle Free in for Adele and there is no Rickie from RMC for the week.

29th-30th November: Jordan North in for Maya and his show is cut from 3 hours to 2 hours on the 30th for a Radio 1 Teen Awards highlights show from 12pm-1pm.

1st December: Cel is solo on Life Hacks and the Chart: First Look

5th December: Rickie & Melvin are off so Reece Parkinson joins Charlie on the show.

7th December: Kenny Allstar covering the rap show.

    • Radio 1 generation meaning??  Today's 10-30 yr-olds? I doubt it. They'll still know Pete Tong though, because he is rhyming slang!
    • There was a time when everyone knew Zane Lowe or Annie Mac or Judge Jules or Dave Pearce or Annie Nightingale. Does the Radio 1 generation know the current bunch?
    • Looks like it's off to Preston!
    • Would be nice to give more presence to the specialist shows over bank holidays. Surely the best way to promote new music credentials over anthems? As much as I accept it's very popular.
    • Peak radio 1 ! I agree with Bluestraw there was huge presence by specialist presenters then , certainly something I think radio1 could do more of now. Remember the takeover where specialist DJs would swap into main shows for a week? Or do we recall In New DJs We Trust, the competition on Chris moyles show where the winner would get a DJ set at radio 1s Ibiza weekend, and that is how Danny Howard’s radio career starters
    • Yeah. He started on R1 in the late 90's when they used do the 'Sessions in the Nations' where they used to split for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. He then moved to daytimes, firstly on weekends in 2003 then they replaced Mark & Lard on the mid afternoon slot in 2004.  Then he moved to late evenings as a specialist DJ.
    • Thanks for sharing that - I don't think I've seen it before. Didn't realise that Colin Murray off of Countdown and R5L used to be on R1! Several other current R2/R5L/R6M names there too.
    • 29th April has updated to show Dan back as presenter but still Nels in for Alyx on Introducing Rock.
    • Where do we think Radio 2 in the Park will be this year? Personally I'm thinking Swindon after Scott's clue of it having many roundabouts and since Big Weekend is at Luton I can't imagine they'd go to Milton Keynes.
    • Yeah, I feel like they need a big push on Jack to cement him in his new position. But it shouldn't just be Jack, you've got Sian and Alyx for instance, who are relatively new faces.
    • Now in it's third week, the new Capital Breakfast Show seems to be settling down well and there are more of the informal, random Jordan topics appearing.  Though it is clear he wants to be seen slightly differently. It really is a very decent listen.
    • Just watched that advert and it made me realise quite how many 'big' specialist presenters there were back then
    • I've been reminded of this Radio 1 cinema advert. I remember being so excited to see it. The In New Music We Trust era. Everything felt so cool, even if they had Westwood.
    • Just Vick and Katie on Wednesday (and presumably Thursday as well).
    • Unless people can provide a source for this information then it should be treated as false.   Why would Jordan sign a contract with the BBC in the autumn when he agreed a deal with Global?  He could have left in August and not had to deal with the BBC.  Vick who doesn't really like Global why would she recommend him to go there and then warn him in her post to be careful?   It's been whispered from October that Roman was thinking of going.  Roman and Jordan have the same management team.  Why would they put Jordan in a place where he would have to battle with the BBC.  They could have agreed a deal with Global for Jordan in the summer.  They might have had to pay first couple months but they would do they to secure him.  If they had known about Roman wanting to leave they could have paid Roman off to get Jordan on air quicker.  Global would also not had legal around BBC contract to deal with and would not have had to pay the BBC to release Jordan.  None of what people say makes sense and if it did happen the way people say then BBC are not the stupid ones.  It really is not a good look to be talking with Global for 6 months, to then sign a contract with a the BBC, continue to talk to Global behind BBC's back after signing and then couple of months later want to leave and to throw a hissy fit as the BBC are not giving you what you want when you want it. That not a good light for Jordan or his management.
