Couple of schedule changes next few weeks:

On Sunday, Matt is riding solo.

All next week, Jordan is in for Adele.

Alice is flying solo next weekend as Dev is away.

On Tuesday 18th, Charlie is off so it’s just Melvin and Rickie.

On wednesday 19th, Matt and Mollie are in for Greg.

On Sunday 23rd, Katie is in for Jordan.

On Thursday 27th, Annie and Jack have a Glastonbury warm up show from 7-11 so Rickie, Melvin and Charlie have been moved from 11-1.

Finally on Friday 28th, Maya is off and Jordan is covering!

It seems like the final nail is in the coffin for Scott covering breakfast then - he is there this week yet M&M covering so i'd say that's it for him and breakfast, the last official breakfast cover shift he did was 27/12/18

He took part in the show for the escape room and covered while Greg was taken so not really covering for Greg but kind of

The lolothon you cant count that as breakfast cover as it's a special

Thoughts?

ALSO note from Friday 5th July Scott's Dance Anthems have been renamed to Radio 1 Party Anthems

Also Matt and Mollie are in for Greg 1st July and Matt solo on 2nd July

I wonder why they're renaming Friday's Dance Anthems... unless it's something more than a rename. I've noticed in recent weeks that classic anthems have been played during the show too.

Just noticed that Clara's show on the week of the 8th July has Greatest Hits from 10am-11am. Wonder what's going on that week to be given a whole week of shows?

Not sure whether it's just gonna be for summer instead of the old summer mixes or whether they're making it a permanent daily thing to bring weekdays in line with the weekend...

Also re Friday night party anthems- I think this may be a permanent name change, dance anthems is well over 7 years old now and R1 seem to love making regular random changes to the wording of show titles. I can also see a brand new intro happening.

If they are making the greatest hits thing permanent everyday then they are clearly squeezing the limits with the 50% new music requirement.

Think it maybe a summer thing at least the summer mixes won’t effect Scott’s show. On a different subject hits radio have annnouced their new breakfast show with flur east James Barr and Greg burns not good when a new radio stations changes its breakfast show in 12 months

Don’t like the choice I think Sarah Jane Crawford should’ve took over with  James Barr and Fluer East not Greg Burns(no offense to him) he looks a bit too old for ‘hits’ radio More like greatest hits radio. I wonder where Dave will go- I noticed Bauer haven’t announced who’s replacing Emma B on magic weekends- maybe Dave will go there?

Scott is off from the 15th-18th July so Dev and Alice are covering for him.

Always enjoy hearing those two, they’ve really come into their own as a duo.  I’d prefer Jordan to cover 1-4 and then to be Grim’s cover on drive when you think about it, the personality duo with a lot of potential should probably get the drive cover, and the standard solo music presenter with some potential should cover afternoons.

It seems to me that they are using the weekend equivelent to cover weekday shows now so breakfast covers breakfast and all

Wonder who will be cover for Matt and Mollie? if they had same holiday used to be Yasser for Dev

Also anyone notice Maya has anthems now 10-11? from Friday its being trailed so wonder if Greatest hits is going to be permenent 10-11 weekdays and Maya is doing anthems

Isn’t Arielle the cover for both Matt and Mollie and Dev and Alice? She’s been used to cover both shows before!

I get the idea with weekend afternoons covering weekday afternoons etc, but it makes no sense doing it blindly like that.

Are they seriously renaming everything to ‘anthems’?

Seems that way, also tomorrow at 7 Scott has "party anthems" which to me sounds more commercial bangers than the current dance format, maybe so he can throw some older classics in to compete with Heart Dance?

Would be interesed to see if he has had new jingles and sweepers done for this - feels like it could be more like his old "floorfillers" he used to do on Fridays after newsbeat being revived

Remember this is the first personalisation of the Friday driver show for him since he took over, because it has stayed the same format as Greg had since 2015 when he took the chart over - of course 1600-1745 has to be the chart then 1800-1900 is "Scott" for an hour

Would be interested to see if this persoinallisation is going towards Scott and Chris back on drive? and Grimmy out maybe? dreams can come true

    • Jesus christ, Olivia Rodrigo was around 3 years ago!?! I thought she was only born in 2019. Anyway. They are doing it to rival commercial networks, on the main 2 lists anyway with rotating them more. Which all in all is a pit of misery. I'm sick to bloody death of Stick Season, it's an utter bag of mediocre wank that makes me even prefer James Blunt circa 2005. Radio 1 still is more expansive however, loved stuff they play and make their own early days, like Jungle Back on 74 like last year.  They can't lose doing stuff that, or else they become bland like everyone else. They have done that for many years though. I heard a song on a March 2001 aircheck from Chris Moyles recently and rediscovered a song by Kings Of Convenience, called Toxic Girl. Totally lost over 25 years but totally love it like it's new. Radio 1 has always played the big time pop stuff since your nan was 3. But they always have and still do throw something on the playlists that isn't what everyone else has. I hope they continue to do that as it sets them apart.
    • I think they are looking too much into this and need to get a proper job where you have to get up at 5am.
    • Zayn's current song isn't on the R1 playlist so would be odd for him to do an interview I guess, not sure either would want it?
    • You have both presented together before your show on Capital. Have you spent time together as friends since, or is the reunion like getting to know one another all over again?   I’m a long time listener in my mid 30s and now outside the R1 target audience age… Chris is into barbecuing and Jordan is into air frying, have you both noticed a change in the other since the days of R1? And are you under any pressure to be on trend at Capital?
    • What do you both miss most about your time at R1?
    • How are you finding the early mornings, and having your afternoons free? Was it easy getting to grips with a different desk and play out system? Do you have any upcoming OBs and anything else exciting planned for the show that you can exclusively share with Unofficialmills? 😀
    • This research is based on the DJs’ voices - pitches, speech rates and fillers like ums and ahs they use - so it’s not affected by sound effects. But yes according to the report Scott is listed as a Radio 2 DJ instead of Radio 1.
    • The playlist has definitely got a bit narrower this year, it feels like. Artists like Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Drake and  Doja Cat seem to be played in every show, even when they’re not on the playlist. Other artists who get a few plays a week, such as Niall Horan, always seem to have the same song played, in his case, Heaven. Whenever they dive into Calvin Harris’ backlog it always seems to be Slide and Promises pulled out, even though they’re two of his least upbeat songs. Most songs they play seem to have been from the 2020s, instead of throwing in a few older hits like Capital does, which is something I think they could do.
    • Jamie Laing out of the schedule for Going Home today - Lauren Layfield in with Katie Thistleton.
    • Bit of a scoop getting an exclusive interview with Zayn, I wonder why he decided not to do Radio 1 too?
    • Who are your favourite artists that are not anywhere close to being on the playlist?   Are there ever songs that make you want to start pulling your hair out (in general, no need to put anyone on blast lol)?
    • Hi to both, miss you loads on radio 1 and hope that you’re doing good at capital 🙏   What was the background to your exits from Radio 1? Do you have any regrets from how it ended?    This one’s more to Jordan, but do you enjoy TV presenting more than radio? What are your targets in TV?
    • I do think if you distracted by talking you wouldn’t put a podcast on in the car. To me unless you used to driving so often that you don’t get distracted and drive for long distances it feels suited to podcasts. I find it odd including Ryan Seacrest or Howard Stern as I don’t know who listens to them in the U.K. Can imagine Chris Evans distracting and annoying on radio in general same for Chris Moyles. I can imagine Scott as not too distracting maybe even in his radio 1 days although if I was a driver I could find Innuendo Bingo or Funny Business distracting based on the humour of the features but Scott’s got a very soft gentle tone of voice doesn’t come across as loud or in your face. I think when you are on in the working day where people maybe listening as said in car, in the office or tradespeople on a job listening to the radio theres a certain style needed
    • Yes, good on you doing your own music blog website. I get that point with the 100% all new music can be alienating but think thats more if the station were to do more totally new bands and artists the thing that new music shows that preceded Jack have always have reflected big artists national and international who have been around for a while be that few years to a decade or two whether playing new stuff from artists to Dua Lipa, Coldplay or Nia Archives. I find its bizarre how music curation has changed a lot in the last decade as what I like of what radio can do well is that ability to hear an audible description of a new artist and information about their music with sense of opinion and thought from the presenter and an interview with the switch to sound features and spotify playlists. It’s not that same magazine effect that Steve Lamarq and Jo Whiley could be an audible magazine show like the NME to Zane Lowe’s radio 1 show complimenting Gonzo which Saunders has revived for MTV
    • I would argue against that, I once drove my car into a post listening to Scott Mills.  But it was back in the day, he was doing Stupid Street with Chappers at the time!
