BAUER

So Kiss & Kisstory are both pretty good stations (bar the Kiss Breakfast show. Irritating voiced woman, very chavvy feel)

But what are your thoughts on your "local" station (you know, the one where they're "number one for (insert area here) everywhere, and make sure you're aware by announcing it in a bored voice at least once every five minutes - money before content)?

I live in the South, so I don't have a local Bauer station, although from what I've heard of them, they're a) not anywhere near as fresh sounding as Global locals B) much more genuinely local, and c) much more personality based than Global locals (Jordan North springs to mind).

I do get Capital London where I live though - Dave Berry's show is awful, the kind of show where the sidekicks (a woman off of Made in Chelsea and a man who used to be in Union J) will laugh their entire way through the link from beginning to end even if nothing funny is said (although the girl, Lilah has a very hot voice to be fair). Then on drive it's a guy called Greg Burns, who's pretty bland but he's been doing it for donkeys years. The rest is networked. So my local station doesn't have much going for it. In terms of good local Capitals, I think Yorkshire is the best - used to have Chris Moyles' mate Hirsty on the breakfast show (now some people called Adam, Danny and JoJo) and Pete Allison on drive.

We don't actually get the local radio stations here in East Anglia. Absolute Radio used to be great before Radio X upped its game and perhaps before it was bought! I used to enjoy Q on Freeview, sadly that's long gone!

Absolute replaced Planet Rock (Kerrang beforehand) on 105.2 here in the midlands, a decent mix of music but that's all really. Free Radio is dire (a shadow of BRMB and Beacon in Wolverhampton beforehand), Capital is worse. We don't have Kiss in the Midlands on FM, Kisstory on the app/freeview etc is good for nostalgics like me but gets repetative.

What strikes me is the personality and unique presenters has almost gone from radio these days, and that sadly includes Radio 1. All the presenters sound the same to me.

I still listen to Scott from time to time in the car but he's the only one with any class for me now. Maybe that's because he's the very last one from my era (Chris Moyles, Mark & Lard, Simon Mayo, Sara Cox, Dave Pearce etc). I'm 27 so too young for Radio 2. I like 6Music at times (can be a bit left field at times) but I like Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie on there. Sadly no DAB in the car where I listen to the radio most.

on the grid.

Wow DC. Based on your bio/picture  (and the fact that you've been knocking about on these forums for yeeeeeeears), I always assumed you really were a 50-something man who lived in Iraq. Being 27 and living in the midlands has irreversibly changed my perception of you.
