Baha I laughed at the idea of Scott doing commercial radio, there's no way he'd go back to that tripe, he's said so himself.

I think so long as he can keep coming up with new ideas and making a good show every day, he'll want to renew it (assuming Radio 1 don't try and push him out). He might go to Radio 2, but I'm not sure I could see him doing that either.. I suspect that the day he leaves Radio 1 is the day he leaves radio.

I think the contract ends early next year. He might well have been hinting he's leaving with the whole last play of World Cup/ Christmas song thing but I'll think he'll stay but he's over 40 and if what they wanted with moyles is true he might go.

I actually think he'll agree to swap with Matt and move to weekends so he can focus on TV projects and do the Strictly tour !

I think that's unlikely for several reasons.

I don't think Matt would want to go five days a week, because at the moment he does more TV than Scott does, and TV is his main thing. He wouldn't give up TV work to do more radio shows I don't think.

Plus, I highly doubt Scott would go back to weekends. It's an obvious demotion, and I think he should go out at the top of his game (whilst still on daytime) and not slowly be phased out from Radio 1 by going to weekends. Plus Scott barely does any TV apart from the Lottery and Eurovision anyway, and that doesn't take five days a week.

Just a thought here, Scott could do his regular show 1-4 Mon-Fri and then do Saturday 10-1, like moyles did between 98 and 01. Matt can then just do Sunday.

Well, if they really want to get rid of him because of his age, probably not a good idea to give him even more airtime, isn't it?

That's silly. Considering the amount of preparation it takes for a show, would you really expect Scott to do six a week? Plus, when would he have time to do stuff to actually talk about on air? Then, why would R1 want an older outgoing DJ to more shows per week, displacing a younger DJ on his way up to just one show a week? That would never happen.

Plus Moyles only did the Saturday show because his weekday show was just 4-5.45.As soon as he got an extra hour he gave up the Saturday show

I'd like to see this happen

0400: New DJ

0630: Greg James

1000: Gemma Cairney ( I do believe she's becoming the new fearne)

1300: Matt Edmonson

1600: Nick Grimshaw

( New idea here after newsbeat, the slots go like this)

1800: Scott Mills

2000: Zane Lowe

2130: Documentary Slot

2230: Phil Taggart

0000: Simulcast With 1Xtra

I don't like the idea of Zane having a shorter show & starting later in the day, I think he's great at what he does and he's one of the best DJs on the station (plus Ben Cooper promised they wouldn't have less specialist hours than they currently do).

I think Alice Levine could do Fearne's slot, although Gemma would be alright (I don't like her personally but the management seem to want to give her a chance).

Although I loved Scott on drive, I can't see him doing it again personally for a number of reasons, plus it doesn't make sense to create new teams for two hour shows when the current format works perfectly well.

If they were to give Matt a week day show (which I'd love) I think this would be what Radio 1 would do:

04:00 - Gemma Cairney (or maybe someone new)

06:30 - Greg James

10:00 - Alice Levine (she seems to be covering daytime shows in the week and since she's now got a daytime show at the weekend it's possible)

13:00 - Nick Grimshaw (although I'd like to keep Scott)

16:00 - Matt Edmonson (they might put Matt on 1-4 instead but I'd prefer it this way round since Matt has more potential with more production in my opinion)

The rest of the day would continue as usual...

However if I was PC this is what I would do:

04:00 - Nick Grimshaw (would cover drive when Matt's away)

06:30 - Greg James

10:00 - Alice Levine

13:00 - Scott Mills (would cover breakfast when Greg's away, as is already in his contract)

16:00 - Matt Edmonson

Then Zane at 7 etc etc

I'd also like Aled to produce Scott again since he did good things for both Mills & Moyles on their shows, although I'm not sure if he'd take the gig.

If Scott swapped with Matt it would actually be a sort of promotion because the weekend 10am slot is the most high profile weekend slot where as his current slot is lower than breakfast or drive, and he can always say he chose to move because of all the tv stuff he's doing!

Weekdays >>>>>>>>> weekends

    • 29th April has updated to show Dan back as presenter but still Nels in for Alyx on Introducing Rock.
    • Where do we think Radio 2 in the Park will be this year? Personally I'm thinking Swindon after Scott's clue of it having many roundabouts and since Big Weekend is at Luton I can't imagine they'd go to Milton Keynes.
    • Now in it's third week, the new Capital Breakfast Show seems to be settling down well and there are more of the informal, random Jordan topics appearing.  Though it is clear he wants to be seen slightly differently. It really is a very decent listen.
    • Just Vick and Katie on Wednesday (and presumably Thursday as well).
    • Unless people can provide a source for this information then it should be treated as false.   Why would Jordan sign a contract with the BBC in the autumn when he agreed a deal with Global?  He could have left in August and not had to deal with the BBC.  Vick who doesn't really like Global why would she recommend him to go there and then warn him in her post to be careful?   It's been whispered from October that Roman was thinking of going.  Roman and Jordan have the same management team.  Why would they put Jordan in a place where he would have to battle with the BBC.  They could have agreed a deal with Global for Jordan in the summer.  They might have had to pay first couple months but they would do they to secure him.  If they had known about Roman wanting to leave they could have paid Roman off to get Jordan on air quicker.  Global would also not had legal around BBC contract to deal with and would not have had to pay the BBC to release Jordan.  None of what people say makes sense and if it did happen the way people say then BBC are not the stupid ones.  It really is not a good look to be talking with Global for 6 months, to then sign a contract with a the BBC, continue to talk to Global behind BBC's back after signing and then couple of months later want to leave and to throw a hissy fit as the BBC are not giving you what you want when you want it. That not a good light for Jordan or his management.
    • Wow, surprised he signed a new contract in September but it says a lot about Jordan that he continued to a very high standard throughout last summer/autumn if this was all going on in the background.
    • They knew Roman wanted to leave early last year but wasn't officially announced but he gave them time to sort replacement. Found and offered Jordan a deal in June or July and needed time to get Jordan out of Contract at bbc and roman to do notice  Jordan had dinner with Katie Vick and Arielle to ask advice and all said he should go.
    • And they told Radio 4’s Feedback that it was an ‘experiment’ to ‘look at the best way to serve young listeners’ but reaffirmed that 280 hours commitment.
    • I doubt he wanted to go to Global if a slot before he found out kemp was leaving.
    • We're hoping to get some answers in the coming weeks
    • From what he's saying on the Pod he's been trying to get out of r1 for a while. Looks like he needed to wait for a show on global to be available. Jordan had bbq last summer with most of thr global execs and he's referenced the deal was in place then. Obviously the hold up was r1 being stubborn
    • All seems to be back to normal this morning.
    • Indeed and Jordan was already friends with Sian Welby, Will Manning and Jimmy Hill.
    • It's great to see those friendships still thriving. I think the days of Radio 1 DJs and Capital DJs being unable to co-exist is long over. You used to either be firmly BBC or commercial, and you don't get the sense that's the case anymore.
    • Maia Beth will be presenting the Radio 1 Happy shows from the 27th April replacing Katie.  https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001ydkr
