It's funny this thread is going on at the moment- I'm not 100% sure, but I think there might be a new female voice over on the way. Have a listen to this, especially the "one" at the end of the ID. It doesn't sound like the normal female VO, so could she be replaced soon? I've heard her doing the "one" on one of the top of the hour song-ramps (those songs with the extended intro they play as the third song each hour) as well.If she is about to be replaced, it could be why they don't play as many sweepers at the moment (there are virtually none with One Big Weekend live tracks at the top of every hour).

In a way I kind of hope there is a new female VO on the way, Never really liked the current one! I don't think she'll live up to Holly though, she suited Radio1 perfect! I like how Dev still uses Holly and David on his opening ramp on weekend breakfast like he did on early breakfast!

I also like that, but it's a shame he didn't keep the funky intro bed he used on Early Breakfast (

), it was really cool. He could've used that ramp at other points in the show instead, but oh well, at least he's keeping some stuff from the old show.

I remember Dev used to have some really good cheesy beds for his show, but now he always uses the boring R1 Generic Beds. I don't know how long ago he stopped using them, definitely whilst he was still on Early Breakfast, but it's a shame, because it gave his show a distinctive sound. I wish DJ's would be more interesting with bed choices, the only ones who use different ones to the generic beds are Grimmy and *shudders* Gemma Cairney. And I never thought I'd be praising Gemma Cairney.

Yeah, I like that too, but it's a shame he got rid of that funky intro bed he used on early breakfast (

), that was great. Adele Roberts used it when she sat in last week. He could still use that ramp at other points in the show, but oh well, at least he's kept some stuff from the old show.

Holly and David are also still on the I'm Here All Week jingles, formerly of Dev, that Gemma Cairney has nicked on early breakfast.

Isn't this 'one' just an edited version of Holly? It sounds similar to her, they are using editied versions of old voiceovers now and again. Louis Mellis is constantly used as a 'one' voice

I did wonder if it was the pre-Holly voiceover.

Saying that, recent imaging hasn't contained much of the current female voiceover. The Weekend Breakfast Show's jingles are all voiced by the male.

Mike works at Radio 1 i believe so it's probably just easier and cheaper to use him. I've listened a few times now and im pretty certain its the old female voice, not a new one. That said, we're over due a change now!

Are these people that do the voices employed by Radio 1?

Or are they just a production company?

Eh? They're all individuals, most of them have an agency, yes, but they aren't all a big production company. For Mike Wooller (the best one IMO) especially, they're not allowed to voice things for other radio stations (exclusivity).

    • Just Vick and Katie on Wednesday (and presumably Thursday as well).
    • Unless people can provide a source for this information then it should be treated as false.   Why would Jordan sign a contract with the BBC in the autumn when he agreed a deal with Global?  He could have left in August and not had to deal with the BBC.  Vick who doesn't really like Global why would she recommend him to go there and then warn him in her post to be careful?   It's been whispered from October that Roman was thinking of going.  Roman and Jordan have the same management team.  Why would they put Jordan in a place where he would have to battle with the BBC.  They could have agreed a deal with Global for Jordan in the summer.  They might have had to pay first couple months but they would do they to secure him.  If they had known about Roman wanting to leave they could have paid Roman off to get Jordan on air quicker.  Global would also not had legal around BBC contract to deal with and would not have had to pay the BBC to release Jordan.  None of what people say makes sense and if it did happen the way people say then BBC are not the stupid ones.  It really is not a good look to be talking with Global for 6 months, to then sign a contract with a the BBC, continue to talk to Global behind BBC's back after signing and then couple of months later want to leave and to throw a hissy fit as the BBC are not giving you what you want when you want it. That not a good light for Jordan or his management.
    • Wow, surprised he signed a new contract in September but it says a lot about Jordan that he continued to a very high standard throughout last summer/autumn if this was all going on in the background.
    • They knew Roman wanted to leave early last year but wasn't officially announced but he gave them time to sort replacement. Found and offered Jordan a deal in June or July and needed time to get Jordan out of Contract at bbc and roman to do notice  Jordan had dinner with Katie Vick and Arielle to ask advice and all said he should go.
    • And they told Radio 4’s Feedback that it was an ‘experiment’ to ‘look at the best way to serve young listeners’ but reaffirmed that 280 hours commitment.
    • I doubt he wanted to go to Global if a slot before he found out kemp was leaving.
    • We're hoping to get some answers in the coming weeks
    • From what he's saying on the Pod he's been trying to get out of r1 for a while. Looks like he needed to wait for a show on global to be available. Jordan had bbq last summer with most of thr global execs and he's referenced the deal was in place then. Obviously the hold up was r1 being stubborn
    • All seems to be back to normal this morning.
    • Indeed and Jordan was already friends with Sian Welby, Will Manning and Jimmy Hill.
    • It's great to see those friendships still thriving. I think the days of Radio 1 DJs and Capital DJs being unable to co-exist is long over. You used to either be firmly BBC or commercial, and you don't get the sense that's the case anymore.
    • Maia Beth will be presenting the Radio 1 Happy shows from the 27th April replacing Katie.  https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001ydkr
    • Vick and Jordan together on Insta (with Ariel’s) in Ibiza. You do imagine Jordan’s ex colleagues have a very different attitude to him than management. Comments on Help! And very subtle comments on Capital Breakfast suggest Jordan was frustrated with Radio 1 / BBC management.
    • I can name quite a few people on this forum who would be better presenters than Danny.
    • His NYE shows were very good. Only thing I would say is he was shackled down slightly there. During his peak he played some great trance stuff in the late 90s and early 00s. So if he were to do a regular show that would have to feature more. Aside from I'd love to see him back.
