Just seen on the listings that in a late change to the schedule Matt will be sitting in for Scott this coming thursday (feb 27).He's also sitting in for Scott on tuesday march 11. Looks like Matt has now replaced Huw as first choice stand in for Scott. Could that mean he's being lin d up to replace him when he leaves?

I never understood why Huw stood in for Scott. Huw is such a music DJ that he doesn't suit a show like Scott's. To be fair, though, around the time when Huw covered everything (last year after Grimmy, who stood in for Scott and Greg before, moved to breakfast) who else was around to provide cover?! Matt can now cover Scott full-time, as can Dev with Greg when Dev moves to weekend brekkie. Alice Levine, though, should get to do drive again she was great!

I think Matt will be Scott's permanent replacement, he's brilliant

I've got a feeling that Huw might decide to leave his weekend show and focus on his specialist show, and I think he will be replaced by a female DJ.Possibly Sarah Jane Crawford,or maybe Alice Levine. With Gemma moving to weekdays they need to increase the no of female presenters on at weekends. It could even h appen as soon as the end of march when the other changes happen

I would move Danny Howard's show to 1xtra. And move Sara Jane Crawford I that place. I think she is really great and I didn't realise how good she was until last week.

Also I think Scott would be great on the Official Chart when he stops afternoons

No no and no. Danny's turned into a great presenter and I think Dance Anthems is a really good show. It's obviously not to everyone's tastes but the music is great even if the show does start a bit early.

Sarah-Jane Crawford ? I'll admit I haven't heard much of her but Radio 1 needs more Alice Levines, not SJCs who add fuel to the "R1 is dumbing down" fire. Adele Roberts on the other hand is great. Really loved her covering Dev on early breakfast. Would gladly see her take over R1 Weekend Breakfast with Dev moving to weekend afternoons.

Absolutely no chance of Scott doing the chart full-time. I'd be very disappointed in both R1 for insulting him with an offer and him for taking it if he moved to the chart. It would be a complete insult to ask him to do the most dull show on the schedule when Scott is their most creative, entertaining presenter. Scott's a Lamborghini and the Chart has turned into a rusty old Astra - Big Top 40 has overtaken it in the ratings it as well.

Scott's last show on R1 should be in the current timeslot- I'd hate to see him slowly get demoted. Also, Scott's hinted that he'll know when the time is right to leave and if Cooper boots him off afternoons, I think that decision will be made for him.

I really love Sara Jane, she actually puts much more effort into her show than you think! She stays everyday from around 11am to 6pm!

That's not particularly impressive. Scott's in from about 12-7 every day and most working people do 7-8 hour days and I'd imagine the show team need at least 3 hours to prepare for the next show.

But Sara. Although people think she's just a tv dumb presenter, she is not. She cares about the show and the output, she puts much more effort than Fearne Cotton. I'd really love her to cover more on BBC Radio 1. Also she's doing really well on other online discussions!

I think we can all agree on the person putting the least amount of effort in to their show is Fearne Cotton!! The daily mail always seem to picture her arriving at 9 and I think she grabs her coat at the last song into Newsbeat!

Just out of curiosity, how do people know that Scott arrives as 12 and leaves at 7? Is that just a guess at an 8 hour day? I love as much as the next person but I really dont imagine he is there until 7pm!

No, I love Scott, but he's probably not their until 7- unless he has to be on Gregs show for some reason (like Gregs Ice bath), or a meeting. If not he might go around 5/6?

I wouldn't be surprised if that's true. Turn up at 9, research the music/ Live Lounge act, go through the running order and get through the show by reading out tweets/texts and fact sheets about songs that the producers have prepared. Oh, and saying "this is beautiful" or "I love this track" before every song to show that she reeeeeeealy cares and that she's such a massive music fan.

I'm sure she's outta there by 1. I remember when Greg used to be on at 1 and they'd do a handover/chat at 12:40 and then Greg would introduce the 12:45 Newsbeat rather than Fearne. Always found that strange. God forbid her and Holls have to queue for lunch.

I think it depends. I've seen tweets from Chris Sawyer saying he's just leaving at 7. For things like Transfer Deadline Day, I'd say they're easily there 'til 7 but day-to-day, it's probably more like 5:30-6.

I'd say they're there at 12 at the latest. They do the handover with Fearne at 12:35 and I'd say they have a meeting before that to finalise the show's running order and whether anything's happened that day which is worth talking about plus going through the Innuendo Bingo clips.

Actually I did see 1xtra headcam when they were sat down asking questions to Big Boss Ben. Scott, Chris, and Producer Cara were leaving the green room area to go to the office at around 4-45. So he doesn't leave until around 5-30 surely?

On another feature on another show I think someone mentioned Chris Stark is usually in at 9am, "checking the social medias"!

Wow, seriously ? Great enthusiasm if true. Main thing I like about him is that he's so enthusiastic and is clearly so pleased to be there and just seems very grateful to have the job he has.

    • Less so with 5 Live. But with Nihal, Nicky Campbell and Mark Chapman get what you are saying.6 Music does have that with Huw Stephens, Mary Anne Hobbs, Gilles Peterson, Marc Riley and Mark Radcliffe
    • Agreed, Martha seems to quietly taken over as host of the Tuesday Bass and Big Beats show that Annie Nightingale did would be good to have some promotion to be done for her show. Agreed with this on bank holidays on a Radio 1 dance day inpaticular would be quite good to have Sarah Storey, Jaguar, Jeremiah Asiamah, Charlie Tee and Martha presenting. I always felt that in Christmas and New Year previously having Victoria Jane to do a Future Soul take over playlist.
    • To be fair to him, this week and next week he’s on his podcast tour which was arranged well before he started on R1. After that I would guess he’ll start being on everyday?
    • It’s Jamie’s dream of a lifetime to be a full time Radio 1 presenter apparently, but he can only do it 2 or 3 days a week.
    • Radio 1 generation meaning??  Today's 10-30 yr-olds? I doubt it. They'll still know Pete Tong though, because he is rhyming slang!
    • There was a time when everyone knew Zane Lowe or Annie Mac or Judge Jules or Dave Pearce or Annie Nightingale. Does the Radio 1 generation know the current bunch?
    • Looks like it's off to Preston!
    • Would be nice to give more presence to the specialist shows over bank holidays. Surely the best way to promote new music credentials over anthems? As much as I accept it's very popular.
    • Peak radio 1 ! I agree with Bluestraw there was huge presence by specialist presenters then , certainly something I think radio1 could do more of now. Remember the takeover where specialist DJs would swap into main shows for a week? Or do we recall In New DJs We Trust, the competition on Chris moyles show where the winner would get a DJ set at radio 1s Ibiza weekend, and that is how Danny Howard’s radio career starters
    • Yeah. He started on R1 in the late 90's when they used do the 'Sessions in the Nations' where they used to split for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. He then moved to daytimes, firstly on weekends in 2003 then they replaced Mark & Lard on the mid afternoon slot in 2004.  Then he moved to late evenings as a specialist DJ.
    • Thanks for sharing that - I don't think I've seen it before. Didn't realise that Colin Murray off of Countdown and R5L used to be on R1! Several other current R2/R5L/R6M names there too.
    • 29th April has updated to show Dan back as presenter but still Nels in for Alyx on Introducing Rock. 6th May schedule has updated to show that the Radio 1 Big Weekend Shows will now be the following: 6am-10am 10am-2pm 2pm-6pm 6pm-8pm Still no presenters listed.
    • Where do we think Radio 2 in the Park will be this year? Personally I'm thinking Swindon after Scott's clue of it having many roundabouts and since Big Weekend is at Luton I can't imagine they'd go to Milton Keynes.
    • Yeah, I feel like they need a big push on Jack to cement him in his new position. But it shouldn't just be Jack, you've got Sian and Alyx for instance, who are relatively new faces.
    • Now in it's third week, the new Capital Breakfast Show seems to be settling down well and there are more of the informal, random Jordan topics appearing.  Though it is clear he wants to be seen slightly differently. It really is a very decent listen.
